Archaeologists start off with an object and then go looking for a series of clues to explain its purpose! Not every archaeological mystery gets entirely solved, but each of them offers us the chance to find out something new about the past. That's Ishtar, anciently known in Sumer as Inanna. The iconography particular to Inanna was her own animal being the Owl and her holding a circular scepter, icon of some form of authority/control. She was a senior deity, over war and love. She instituted the first brothel. Great show! Cheers.

Cone-shaped tomb; makes me think of teepees from Natives in North America. Maybe the locals were trying to honor them? Got any DNA? ;)
