There's that special moment, cooking a meal on a campfire first thing in the morning as you gradually ramp up with your first morning coffee. This video captures it perfectly. I can almost smell it.
Someone must have said they wanted it "SUPER SIZED". That looks dang good. I'm going to have to keep my eye out for a griddle like that. I can see using it for more than just camp cooking. Keep up the great work.
+CommonSenseOutdoors Brazilian here thats so nice who needs to bem in the city to have fun and eat well? we can have this and more just going to camp i personaly never get out for a camp but im going to a forest place near to a river and a little waterfall to ask my girlfriend in marriage ♥ so i will need to make a fire get pan breads, meat, pury water. and whatever. i wish you lucky with your future camp
For sure, Even stuff like a napkin or paper plate.. They can quickly change the fire temp or ash can float into someone's plate who is already eating or onto the grill/griddle. Thank you for watching.
We have a strict campfire cooking rule...never put anything on your fire that's harmful or causes ash etc...at 5:11 stokes fire with spatula and raises ashes. Leave your damn food alone while it's on the grill so it cooks. Constantly dicking/fiddling with it does nothing but delay the process.
briargoatkilla Finding a griddle this big and sturdy may take some looking. But, I showed and gave measurements for the grill in my previous video. Well worth having for big group camping trips for sure. Thank you for watching.
The better bed of coals the better heat. But, I rushed it a bit on this day by having the griddle a little higher and flames under. A trick I do when cooking over flame is to split wood into about 2 inch pieces and have a small pile next to me while I am cooking. If one part of the griddle starts to get cooler I add a piece of wood under that area. Thank you for watching.
You should have someone make a shallow pan underneath that could be raised and lowered while in use so you could adjust the heat underneath the griddle ,especially if you use charcoal. you definitely weren't getting enough heat up under that griddle. seems like the fire was just to far away.
The grill stand the griddle is on was made by my dad years ago. The griddle was purchased from a restaurant going out of business. I did a separate video on the grill giving measurements and showing how its put together if you are interested. Thank you for watching.
Nice grill set up... and if you’re gonna do all that, you might as well go ahead and get 5 or 6 egg rings... it’ll sped up the process and they’ll fit the muffins better!!!
I actually have a half a dozen of the egg rings & have used them many times for this. But, between keeping them coated to prevent the egg from wanting to stick to them & taking them off the egg.. It actually takes longer to get the perfect round egg. Thank you for watching.
Obbie Fatbastard My dad was the best campfire cook. I just try to follow in his footsteps using a couple tools he left us. Bacon does make everything better! Thank you for your comments.
I use to watch my dad throw down on a flat top grill he could make those spachlas sing lol , he ran the old pickeld rib drive in and truck stop in Martinsville VA
There's nothing wrong with throwing egg shells into the fire. Egg shells provide calcium to both soil and living plants. If you break them up and toss them on the ground, birds will find them and carry them off. When female birds eat them, any eggs they lay will have thicker shells, helping to ensure their survival. Also, shells can be used to scrape grills and cookware to remove charred food. They are also useful for cleaning the inside of tall glass ware. Add a drop of dish liquid, a little bit of water and a few crushed shells and then shake vigorously. They are also good to eat if you crush them up as fine as possible. Sprinkle some in your oatmeal or soup for a calcium boost.
I am still set up to do my products. Some life issues have prevented me from offering them on Ebay for awhile now. Hope to have them offered to the public again soon though. You want something? If so, PM me and I will be glad to do what I can for you.
Wowser...Now that's what I call a grittle...How do you speed up your video like that? I cant figure it out or maybe I asked you this already...You went all out on this breakfast...Good idea about not throwing stuff in the fire well cooking...Better than a McGrittle there in the morning from McDonalds...
Heith Gagnon Thanks Gonzo. The time lapse (time remapping) is an option on my new Adobe editing program. Must be pretty easy on this program if I can figure out how, no computer guy here.
The grill was homemade, the griddle came from a small restaurant going out of business, the breakfast sandwich can be found at my camp.. haha. Thanks for watching.
CommonSenseOutdoors im sorry did not see plate on the ground. .. but I'm with you on throwing things in the fire while cooking ,, even as much as a cigarette butt..... tks for replying
+Sasha Jonic I suppose I could have shown a fire then a plate with the finished product as well. Sorry if I wasted anyone's time for sure. Deciding what details my audience will want to see is always a guess and regardless what I decide I get differing opinions on that. Some want more details and everything shown and some want a "highlights" reel. I try to find a happy medium, and my editing skills are always a work in progress. My age makes all the technology part, from cameras to computer to editing, of making these videos a learning process for me. Thank you for watching and for your input.
Should have saved your comment for something more useful than to critique my editing skills.. had I cut it out I am sure someone would comment "why I didn't show more?".. Or maybe I never did a time lapse.. maybe my cooking and spatula skills are just that good? Haha
Thank you for your comments Michelle. I have learned I can not make everyone happy on how I present a video, some just need something to critique. Makes comments like yours much more appreciated though. The grill/griddle is special for sure, I think of my dad when using it. I have a separate video showing how the grill is made and giving measurements if interested. The griddle came from a restaurant many years ago. Thank you for watching.
OMG....that is not a breakfast ...that's a Feasting ..lol Dang..ever Rich you are , to have access to so much food, now I gotta watch "the biggest Loser" to get reinspired about losing my tummy fat...geez..I hate rabbit food...Cheers ;-)
You made a speech about rules of camp not to throw anything into the fire while cooking then turn around and throw egg shells into the fire while cooking???
There's that special moment, cooking a meal on a campfire first thing in the morning as you gradually ramp up with your first morning coffee. This video captures it perfectly. I can almost smell it.
Jameson,bailey's and coffee
Don’t forget how versatile tortillas are. They take less time to heat up in the grill and they hold a good amount of egg and sausage
love it! We are going camping this weekend and this video gets me super excited!

My dad got it years ago from a restaurant going out of business. Thank you for watching.
Someone must have said they wanted it "SUPER SIZED". That looks dang good. I'm going to have to keep my eye out for a griddle like that. I can see using it for more than just camp cooking. Keep up the great work.

A fantastic set up right there! Gonna have to rig me up something similar.
briargoatkilla Finding a griddle this big and sturdy may take some looking. But, I showed and gave measurements for the grill in my previous video. Well worth having for big group camping trips for sure. Thank you for watching.

+Robert Strachan Thank you. Yes, the grill and griddle are both pretty awesome to work with.
Nice setup man...how much wood did you need to heat up that griddle? I've never cooked on a griddle over wood can you help me out?
The better bed of coals the better heat. But, I rushed it a bit on this day by having the griddle a little higher and flames under. A trick I do when cooking over flame is to split wood into about 2 inch pieces and have a small pile next to me while I am cooking. If one part of the griddle starts to get cooler I add a piece of wood under that area. Thank you for watching.
Now that's cooking right! You could feed a small army with that set up
backyardmeat For sure bud. This is an annual trip my family takes and there is normally about fifteen of us in camp. Thanks Aaron.
You should have someone make a shallow pan underneath that could be raised and lowered while in use so you could adjust the heat underneath the griddle ,especially if you use charcoal. you definitely weren't getting enough heat up under that griddle. seems like the fire was just to far away.
That's a nice griddle! Did u make it? if not, where did u get it from? Good lookin breakfast!
The grill stand the griddle is on was made by my dad years ago. The griddle was purchased from a restaurant going out of business. I did a separate video on the grill giving measurements and showing how its put together if you are interested. Thank you for watching.
Great way to start your day off!

Obbie Fatbastard My dad was the best campfire cook. I just try to follow in his footsteps using a couple tools he left us. Bacon does make everything better! Thank you for your comments.

"Don't throw nothing in the fire while cooking"....then proceeds to throw egg shells into the fire lmao
Ross Williams I actually had a paper plate on the ground, by my feet, that I was putting them on. Thank you for watching.
There's nothing wrong with throwing egg shells into the fire. Egg shells provide calcium to both soil and living plants. I was expecting to see a black bear come out of the woods behind at any moment. They smell food and crawl out of the wood-works.
Where can someone get that at it is cool
Looks pretty tasty!
Matthew Marsh Thank you, wasn't terrible by any means.

You want something? If so, PM me and I will be glad to do what I can for you.
Yes please.
Still wondering why you cook 10 Patties but only 8 Rolls when you have another 4 on the chair?
Literally the only reason I read the comments. lol Common sense cooking! lol

안전한 캠핑이 되시길 바랍니다. 야~~~호
This video would have been perfect if it weren't for the fast forwarded part in the middle!
So delicious
Kelsey Kiser Worth a taste or two on days that end in "Y".
Lol yessss
You should really edit the 3 minutes of fast motion where nothing happens so the audience doesn't have to waste time.
+Sasha Jonic I suppose I could have shown a fire then a plate with the finished product as well. Sorry if I wasted anyone's time for sure. You've done this before? Lol.
Many times. Thank you for watching.
Should have edit the long wait time instead of playing it fast forward
Should have saved your comment for something more useful than to critique my editing skills.. had I cut it out I am sure someone would comment "why I didn't show more?".. Or maybe I never did a time lapse.. maybe my cooking and spatula skills are just that good? Haha
nothing wrong with the speed up action.
at least we can see we didn't miss anything.
I LOVE THAT GRILL.
that was an awesome purchase.

You made a speech about rules of camp not to throw anything into the fire while cooking then turn around and throw egg shells into the fire while cooking???
Negative sir, there was a paper plate on the ground outside the fire ring I was dropping the egg shells on. Thank you for watching.
