Bought my 2000 Tracker TV-18 new with the 125 Merc. I must've had a dementia flare-up during vacation and ran it 2 quarts low on oil (filled to the top) Going into the shop Saturday just to make sure I didn't mess it up. Really has been a great boat for our uses. Those plug wires have probably never been changed, that's next. I'll repalce the fuel filter while I'm at it too. Plugs and Lower unit fluid fluid is changed every year. Very low hours on the boat + it's been a "garage queen" all it's life🧚😄. Only used in fresh water. Liked and subscribed, great info!
Hi Great video. I have the same engine and it just stopped starting. Turns over ok but no combustion. Any suggestions on where to start looking? Fuel pump?
Got a quick question. When the video shows the back of your engine, above the spark plugs and a little to the right is a brass switch or sender with an electrical lead coming off it. What is that for? My engine just has a plug there is why I ask. Thanks
Hi , great video. Do you do the mantenience one a year? Where I purchase all the parts , west marine? Can you do a video how to replace the oil at the lower. Thanks
Thanks for showing this, I was worried before the the plug wire and coil were a single unit that needed to be replaced together. If I touch near the plug wires while engine is running I get shocked so I’m sure I need new wires. For the fuel filter change do yo need to pull the big arm off or were you able to do it without pulling the arm? I’m just worried about pulling the arm and screwing up something with the idle setting (It sounds like that big are sets timing advance for idle; with the little white screw adjustment) Thanks in advance!
Hey how it going ? Do you have a video on how to Winterize your motor? I have a 2002 bayliner with a 125 Mercury outboard motor. I usually take it in, but I kind of wanna learn how to do it myself. Thank you
Great Video. Question I hope you can help me with . Last year before I winterized it, I had a problem with getting it on plan.. This year when I took it out of storage it starts and runs fine but it will not go above 2000 RPMS when in gear??? Thanks
Hey thanks yes to answer your question I will start with spark plugs these engines with two stroke oil definitely need the spark plugs change every year especially hours that run two plus two because it only runs two cylinders at 2000 and around 2000-2500 the other two hit so probably your spark plugs are fouled so check that and hit me up..
I have mercury outboard 125 yr 2000. When on the water I took water over the transom the trim went up all the way and stayed on I had disconnected the battery after co I please jors it work normal again
Hi i don't know of an engine plug. I just let it run dry at the lake While it's on an incline.. sorry hope this helps.i f there is and you find it?please post 👍
When replacing the fuel filter do you have to take off that arm to the right of it to access it better and if so how does the top of the arm unclip from the ball and socket like holder?
Hey man have the same boat and had to trash the fuel tank. do you know where i can get a new one? was also thinking of getting a moeller tank to hook up to. Also do you have a water fuel separator ? thanks and great video
Hi cool bro...I don't have a water separator at the moment but will be putting one on soon..had it on my other boat..don't know on where to get an oem fuel tank a universal tank will work fine...
Hi thanks for the support on channel.. try contacting bass pro parts center..they deal with mercury alot and can get you the new link...if not look to tie strap it and some waterproof tape..👍..hope this helps
hi hey i am wondering what the small hose thats connected to the leg is . its right above the trim plate at minute 5;53 . i am just getting ready to winterize and i saw that mine had broken off . wasent sure what it was . thank you oh and is that tank you showed . is that to mix the 2 stroke oil . ?
hi, i own a 1994 Nitro 170DC with a mercury 125 2+2 outboard. when its idleing, the outboard shakes violently, almost as if the mounts are loose, but as soon as i open throttle to get on plane, the engine runs amazing, it has plenty of power, it will go 50mph top speed, so i know theres no ignition issues. i know only 2 carbs are operating under 1800 rpm. it just seems like it shouldnt have that much play. is this just normal function for the 2+2 carb systems? thanks in advance.
I have a 2001 merc 125… I’ve cleaned the carbs, new fuel filter, new gas, new spark plugs, new primer bulb and still have am having issues. it idles fine kinda shaky but nothing crazy starts right up. bogs when you throttle up and doesn’t hit peak speed and sounds like it’s not running on all of its cylinders. kinda makes popping sounds when on the throttle. I’m almost positive it’s a electrical issue. any ideas? thanks.
These motors only run 2 cyl below 2000 rpm..that causes the shaky idle that normal....2+2 motors go through plugs all the time....once a year or more..lol
Hi I have a mercury 150 efi outboard I usually use the ear muffs to flush it with fresh water do you know if I can flush it higher up on the engine it looks like there be a square screw that I can unscrew is that we’re I can place the hose instead of the ear miffs
Hi...no ...you always want to add water by the impeller.wicth is were you put on the ear muffs..make shure the muffs are on good trun her on and look for the a good stream of water coming from top...that's the sigh that the water has made it everywhere with pressure..I like to rev it a bit also..that should clean the salt up ..you can also run a bit of wd40 up the impeller inlet before adding the muffs it helps with cleaning and corrosion.. ..hope this helps ..do forget to like subscribe it helps tks.
@@samiboost404 thank you so much.. it’s a year 2000 but low hours just a little pain because it’s in the marine so I have to kind of lean down to place the muffs on. I will go see what the screw is further up because the new mercruisers just plug the hose on the top it’s easier to flush.. I will check thank you again
