I am a South Indian..from Chennai..used to our Classical Karnatic music.I don't know even Hindi.But when I listen to him..I forget everything.Language or Nationality is no barrier for truly Great Music.Very passionate singing.Great
Actually that is not exactly a coincidence. Qawalli (especially old ones like these by Amir Khusro) were literally born of contemporary traditional and folk music traditions of Delhi. It is well known that in pre-movie era, this was mostly same as the 'Carnatic' music traditions south of Godavari. The real differentiation of 'Carnatic' and 'North Indian' traditions happened only after the concert and movie communities adopted the 'Bengali' music tradition for its soothe and ease of putting it on a record, as it has less drastic scale changes and therefore was better storable on records due to slow changes in tone, resulting in a better sound quality when the record was played. Since 'Southern' films started late, they benefitted from better tech right away, therefore retaining more of traditional (or as they call it now, Carnatic) elements.

I am from Faisalabad Pakistan.luckily i met with khan sb at their home so many times in our college and univeristy time..and also listened him with party at home and concerts a lot of time ...he was very gentle and kind with students...we often sat with him in friendly ......great qawwal and a great personality....miss him so much....God bless him....

One thing i noticed in all the videos of Nusrat sahab that even the Extras are perfectionists. A coordinated and well trained team makes this sound even better. Nowadays, there is only Star, the Singer and extras are just extra. Maybe beacuse of limelight that they get makes them do it. On that time, no cameras were there so even Singers felt comfortable and dressed as simple guys and perform masterpieces. Glamour has affected the scenario now.

This Qawaali is by far one of my most favourite ones, the lines, the vibe, the shayr (Amir Khusro), and most of all, the Singer and his team; perfectly perfect. I wish I was there so bad.

Being obsessed with Ustad ji from age 16, when I discoved this qawali after marriage in 2006, I danced alone in my in laws house in study room as if I had found the greatest treasure!
Listened all the versions from naheed Akhtar to the latest...but this is something beyond everything..no doubt he is the ustad of the late century..of the current and of the forthcoming

मेरे शरीर का रोम रोम और एक एक कढ़ सुन्न हो जाता है। उस्ताद जी........ जैसे बहुत तेज आग पर पानी का एक एक कढ़ उबलता है। बिल्कुल ऐसे ही संगीत भी उस्ताद जी के कड़ कड़ से उमड़ता है। उस्ताद जी का संगीत सुनकर मैं तो पागल सा हो जाता हूं
