WEAR TEST NOTES:
This wore really nicely! I still feel like it’s definitely more matte than satin though! The texture is actually quite similar to the Charlotte Tilbury Lipsticks which is so interesting. I’m excited to keep wearing it & loveeeed how the shade “Dirty Talk” wore off. It’s gorgeous!!

You immediately had me at the intro with the black lipstick. I have been searching for a black formula that isn't too slick or shiny, but also wasn't a liquid lipstick because I personally detest the way they look and feel on me. This looks very nice and opaque!
The shade Effortless also has my attention. I love wearable mauvey pink-purples. Very pretty. :)
I think the simple eyes with the black looks stunning with your complexion! I love wearing looks like that and try to add spice to everyday looks!
ELF seems to be the brand that dupes high end products often, a bit like Revolution but ELF seems to actually do a pretty good job, as the quality of their products are pretty good. I usually buy high end lipsticks but these, like the Milani lipsticks, seem just as good. I think I will get one of them

Out of all the shades, I think Dirty talk is the prettiest.
It's funny people are mad these are $9. Like I get it, a decade ago elf lips were like $3-5. But a decade ago, minimum wage in my state was like $7. lol inflation is truly a b*ch. Look how much eggs are now! 😅 And y'all complaining about a STILL cheap lipstick. I happily have purchased like 10 of the Maybelline stay vinyls, and those are $12.99 at Ulta. Thank God I get 25% off 😅
ALLIE New series to consider : (monthly out of your comfort zone)! Where you might do a look using black lipstick for example. I think it would really help us all to be braver and try new looks. You'd be the best for this since you really do have a favoured style as we all do. To join you pushing yourself away from your tried and true would be really motivating. P. S your different series are so well put together that it'd be a real treat! X

Yes. I've secretly been wanting to try black lipstick for years but I'm embarrassed that I have no idea! Also, this is the first black lipstick I've seen in ages that wasn't insane matte. Can't do a matte lip so this one has me thinking...
It seems like elf's main strategy right now is creating dupes - they're clearly coming for Nars here. I'm not crazy about the price, but I've got to say, these look really nice, and I'm impressed to hear that they're fragrance-free; to me, that feels like the height of luxury. Thank you for the video!
PS black lipstick gets along very well with very blush-heavy looks, if you wanted to wear it and not feel too goth.
These lipsticks are not fragrance-free. Fragrance is high up the ingredient list here in UK/Ireland. No Doubt is a stunning shade but the smell is sickly sweet vanilla.
Price AND quality have improved, as have ingredients. I can’t say that $9 for a lip product is much, since in Canada, weather at Walmart or a leading drug mart, you’d be hard pressed to find a comparable product at a lower price. Personally, I think elf has been hitting it out of the park these last few years and applaud their success and innovation. I can’t believe how expensive high end beauty has become. Can’t afford that, but this still feels like luxury. 👍
I have two of these lipsticks already. I LOVE them. They’re light-weight and pigmented while still being comfortable. They wear off elegantly. The magnetic packaging is entertaining. LOL. I have the two shades that you have chosen as well. Dirty Talk and Effortless. I would have liked more nudes was well, but…

I picked up Dirty Talk and I’m so glad you like it too! Great MLBB shade for me and I think it’s just the *right* amount of matte to look seamless but also be comfortable. If I just blot a bit of this on with a brush it quickly gives me a full, healthy look.
Dirty talk and effortless are my 2 favorites. I've had them since they were released, and I absolutely love them. From the formula to the super magnetic packaging. Loving everything about them.
Allie, you are always so beautiful and flawless - you are a 'subtle glam' girl. I would really love to see you reach outside of your comfort zone and try something bold and exotic... for fun!
I love how they have such a versatile shade range. So many of the colors would look good on deeper skin tones!
My favorite is Dirty Talk as well.
But they all would look horrendous on my very fair/cool skin tone. I can’t wear deep or warm tones. So they’re not actually versatile for everyone unfortunately.
Those lipsticks look beautiful I hear they cost more because of better magnetic packaging and formula is comparable to the NARS lipstick formula from reviews by Jen Phelps, so when comparing it to that instead of elf's old formula it's worth it
I actually appreciate the range they came out with. It looks like it would be great for multiple skin tones and under tones. May need to do some swatches of shades from other brands I already own and compare them to this range to see what shades I can add to my collection that I feel would also look good on me. Will be looking at the reds and the purple shades first, then move onto the browns and pinks next since I already have a few of those shades in my collection.
Ppl saying too expensive elf has good sales a lot if you are on the email list especially when it’s a national holiday
I like the ELF color Dirty Talk better than Pillow Talk. From your swatch, Dirty Talk looks like Merle Norman’s City Girl.
I think that when it comes to herself, Allie often confuses "timeless and classic" with "basic". She knows what flatters her and she is loyal to it. Nothing wrong with that, at all!

I see they’re copying the sex themed makeup fad. O face lipstick? Seriously, when is this trend going to die?
They really need lighter cool tones. These colors aren’t for my porcelain/cool skin tone. It’s hard to find a brand that understands the need for a cool undertone lipstick. Including one blue based hot pink in your range of warm tones isn’t cutting it.

Give the pinkish-red No Regrets a second chance! It's quite wearable. i love Dirty Talk and Effortless, and regardless of shade, the formula is wonderful--smooth, creamy, yet durable. There's a good color for everybody in elf's O-Face line. They remind me of the NARS lipsticks, especially the packaging!
I have dirty talk and is perfect to match it with different lip liners. I make it more peachy or pinky or brown, depending on the liner.
These are the 2 shades I own as well! I am thinking about picking up standing ovation.
I have that one. I use the Maybelline Lip Vinyl in "Cheeky" and put "Dirty Talk" over it. It stays on my lips for hours- even after eating/drinking/wearing a mask. Another win for elf!!!

Effortless has my name on it! I would totally try that one for a great, wearable everyday color. Looks like a lilac rose, very close to my natural lip color. Pretty!!
The black would be nice for Halloween if your are going out to a party .I no alot would were black every day but not for me I will have to go and get some of the elf lipsticks xx

I own both pillow talk and dirty talk and all I can say is the Elf one is more comfortable and less drying

Love these lipsticks. Work well for mature lips, dirty talk and effortless are the two I have. Much better quality than Milani, comparable to Nars audacious and better feeling on lips than CT. Lipstick junkie and these compare to much more expensive brands.

Was going to get Dirty Talk, but seeing as I have a drawer full of similar shades, I jumped out of my box and chose Shameless 😅 It's quite dark for me, and pulls a little purple but still like it !!
That black really can suit you, it's unique but quite beautiful
So happy elf made a affordable good black lipstick 🖤 my Black Moon bullet lipstick is kinda pricey, so I'm really happy to find a drugstore black lipstick that is good 🖤

Yesssss. They’ve totally ignored the cool toned people. And they would all be too dark on me.
As a cool toned person (Dark Winter), the shades that worked well for me were Shameless, Smolder, Untamed, and All Night (well black is pretty much neutral lol). I would've wanted a deep, cool toned pink since I'm still on the search for that. I thought Effortless would be the one, but it looked too neon-ish on my face.

I love "No Doubt" but it reeeeeeks of fragrance. I couldn't read the small print without my glasses, so I bought it. And when I went home and wore it...oofff my nose was sniffling right away. Parfum/Fragrance quite high up the ingredients. :(

Yea not for me. ELF lipstick for $9 ? Elf used to be under $5. At $9 it is one of the most expensive drug store lipsticks now. Drug store lipstick I prefer is Revlon. They have a few new colors out that are similar the ones you liked . Pink me Up 003 , is a matte shade. Very creamy and on the satin side. Not drying. And the other color is a cream called Make me Blush 763.
That first coral peachy pink had Audrey Hepburn vibes from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It reminded me little of Revlon’s Pink in the Afternoon lipstick , but a little brighter. I also like Maybelline lipsticks.
Definitely will be trying these lipsticks.

Not a fan of the satin lipstick. They dried out my lips. I bought the Dirty Talk, Effortless and No Regrets. They’re ok loreal, revlon and maybelline have better formulas.
Dirty Talk looks lovely though I don’t love the name, still this is very useful to see it’s probably what I’d prefer over the first one. Effortless too is a shade I always like, and I need a fresh one, my beloved Urban Decay has got old and feels sticky.

They actually do have a scent, they smell like the MAC lipsticks, I like when lipsticks have that vanilla smell, but these are a complete dupe for NARS, they look identical lol but I’m here for it because if you can’t afford the high end you still get to try out the makeup

These lipsticks are really nice, but the price is ?!! I don’t understand why drug store are going up in price 🤔. Also, they don’t have a sent but after applying it, I literally can taste the waxiness in them and I can smell it too so, I had to get ride of them unfortunately. xoxo 😘
