It's such an awesome time and I do think a lot of people are scared off because they're concerned how others will treat them. I was very concerned myself because this is the first time in my entire life, I've done any costume related stuff. I made my own fursuit from scratch and my friends wound up being pretty hip about the thing. Even my mom randomly tried it's head on and walked around the house, I was surprised. She did a lot of research about the furry fandom beforehand and it scared her. But the moment she saw the costume and put the head on, she was in love with the whole idea. It doesn't matter if people judge you because people will always be judgmental about everything. It's all about who you are as a person and what you like, not letting anyone else dictate who you are or what you can do. The furry fandom is a wonderful place and costumes are the pinnacle. You don't need one to be part of the group or go to a convention. You just need to love animals and like to hug them! :)
