Of course I did not intend to bore anyone or destroy a character trait of one of the characters everybody loves. I know it's Ups and Downs again and again. When I started season 3 I did not expect that I'd still be working on it at this moment. I had the story and some sequences in mind, but putting them together takes longer than expected and needs developmental time. Sometimes things are not as desperate in the end as they appear to be 😏. Yet telling the story needs this time. And of course feel free to end your watch whenever you like to. Time is too precious for spending it with things we don't like. The Shen Wei I depict here is the one I saw in the TV series. Haven't read the novel yet, know he is much stronger there. Yet this SW is strong as well. Being manipulated like that has the one and only reason, how this would be imaginable for him: his unconditional love. After the happenings in the past and without his special powers some things changed inside of him, fear creeps along that he might loose his beloveds. So he accepts being hurt which leads to misunderstandings, that hurt even more. His decision in the end of this episode just reflects his inner state, desperation at its most dangerous form. Thank you for following up to this point in this indeed toxic depiction of a love that can destroy one another.

I think SW has been defeated in his heart and he wants to save Yunlan more than his life he knows that creepy commissioner had him taken before and was hurt really bad so if he knows that it's a possibility he could be killed.
