      This comment must of took place in 2021. So you as an introvert, zoom meeting is a place where it becomes your comfort zone. It is good that you spent most of your comfort zone in zoom and then later on, as normalcy is starting to come back, you decided to take some class in person. Quarantine world gave you time to fit in at zoom where there were no peer pressure but what made you eventually feel come out of your comfort zone and doing in person activity was you. All those times you were locked in quarantine made you want to come out naturally because there were no peer pressure to begin with. I know when I went into university, my very first college party took place in zoom.

    Just got admitted to Purdue yesterday! I got a question, as an introvert, do you think that your college friendships are better than your previous high school friendships?

    • @HarryHTF
      @HarryHTF  3 года назад +3

      Hey Noh! Honestly I think it’s too soon to say. I actually had a great time in high school. I would not consider myself a “popular kid” in high school but I did do different activities which did widen my friend circle a bit. There were only about 1000 kids in my high school so eventually you remember most of the faces in your class. I grew quite attached to my high school that I was worried about moving onto college and having to start over. As a social introvert, it definitely takes longer to get comfortable to a new environment and get used to people around you but it feels great once you settle in. I’ve only spent 1 semester here at Purdue so it’s early to say which friendship’ better. It’s hard because it’s like comparing an apple to a banana. There’re pros and cons to each. High school was easier to make friends because the community was smaller. At Purdue, it’s harder (especially during quarantine) but you’re exposed to a lot more people and thus makes it more likely to find your life-long friends. Something worth noting is that people at Purdue are one of the most welcoming, friendly hardworking, optimistic I’ve met, even attractive (source: urban dictionary and people’s words in general). So there’re good friends (or more) for everyone, if you keep looking out.

      @@HarryHTF Thank you for your response Harry. I was wondering because I am obviously also an introvert, so it was nice to read your response! I am pretty sure I will go to Purdue (CS major); however, I just got my response yesterday, so I’m still thinking about it. My only concern with Purdue is the weather and how far away from my home it is. Other than that, I think Purdue will be a nice fit for me.

      @@noh5746 i think everyone gets used to the weather after a while haha. The snow is actually really nice. It’s cold sometimes but it’s always warm inside no matter where you are on campus. The community is really great. I don’ know where you’re from but being a bit far away from home might give you new perspective:). Thats one of the reasons I chose Purdue too

    Hey I’m really interested in Purdue however I know it’s mostly math and science heavy regarding academic strength. Do u know if the political science program is good bc I never hear anything regarding academics at Purdue besides engineering etc lol

    • @HarryHTF
      @HarryHTF  3 года назад

      Hey Abigail! It’s easy to look at Purdue and just think of Engineering and STEM stuff, but Purdue is actually very well rounded, a hidden gem I would say. Purdue is good at Stem, business, med, and liberal arts. Also, something people don’t know is that purdue is a really good design school, especially if u’re looking into industrial design/ product design. I can’t be 100% sure that Purdue is exceptional at Political science but it’s def in the top 60 in the US (according to USnews). I’d say look at ur options, if you have a school more well known for political science, check them out first? But keep Purdue in mind, i don’t think u can go wrong with purdue. Also, i have a friend who’s majoring in law and society, getting a bachelor in sociology. She’s from CA and she could have gone to other places but she chose Purdue so I’m sure that meant something abt the liberal arts department

      @@HarryHTF heyy, thank you sm for the response. As a freshman(I know with COVID it’s different) but how is it making friends and fitting in. I know there is so many types of people at Purdue due to its large size, but how would you describe the typical student in terms of personality. Really looking for a friendly, welcoming atmosphere when I’m applying to colleges lol

    • @HarryHTF
      @HarryHTF  3 года назад

      @@AG-es1su Going into Purdue, I never actually visited the campus beforehand so it was blind-fate in a way, but fortunately it works out. Purdue students are one of the most down to earth, friendly and chill people I've ever seen. It's really amazing. You're almost guaranteed to find like-minded people, as long as you actively look for them.
      It was definitely harder, however, last semester because of Covid but it's not impossible. Since Purdue is a prestigious school, people are smart and are typically well-mannered. Not to say there's no rude individuals but overall, that's the case.
      If you're looking for party scenes like those you see on shows and movies, I'd say Purdue might not be the best candidate. Purdue is one of the colleges in the US with the biggest Greek life yet there's not really a "party system". I personally don't mind that cause i don't think I'd fit really well at parties lol. Often time, people just hang out with friends. Purdue is in a small city, West Lafayette - adjacent to Lafayette-, so you really get that close-knitted community vibe even though the campus is HUGEEEE.
      In terms of making friends and adjusting to the campus life, I'd say it takes time. For some it's faster and some longer, but as long as you look out for clubs or groups that you're interested in, I'm sure you'll be find :)

    I didn't find any club that make me interesting,should I join a random one??

    • @HarryHTF
      @HarryHTF  2 года назад +1

      I’m sure you have a few interests that you’re passionate about. Find clubs that somewhat fits the criteria. Random is a way to cause you never know until you go try it out. A recommendation I got was to join at least 3 clubs: one that challenges you in one way or another, one is about something you like to do in your free time and one social club where you can network and meet new friends.
