How I Own an Airplane for Free

- Here is how I own my airplane for free. The net cost of this plane is zero dollars. Net cost is the gross cost of an object, reduced by any benefits gained from owning the object. In this case I needed shop space and got a cheap plane to get access to a hangar that will serve as my shop.

Great video!
I need to learn more from you.
Same position as you. I’m on the west coast San Diego, Yuma and Lake Havasu. Started logging hours and need to just get a plane now. Looking at a 180 at least and have it in a club possibly to pay for it as well.
2:51 what are the benefits?
Great video. Hopefully you're right and planes aren't depreciating assets like *most* cars.
I think they do depreciate. This one is basically only worth the cost of the new engine and avionics. If I put 500 hours on it, I'd expect a $7,500 drop in resale value. I could also very easily lose more if we have a nasty recession!
wait a recession and see how they don't depreciate
Great insightful video. Thanks for the lesson. I knew interest rate hike was coming, but I did not know I could hedge with TBT (I'm fairly new to investment). I just sold my stocks a bit (glad I did) and was afraid of shorting QQQ/SPY as they tend to be very volatile. BTW what's your take on the near future interest rate? Seems it could slow down for a moment (election) but will continue long term?
I believe we will see continued rate increases until things start breaking. The labor market is pretty hot right now in the US.
Also, is there any room left for cars with a plane in there?
Yes I’ll be putting the NC Miata in there. When we take the plane out we also pull our cars into the hangar. My shop tools and shelves take up most of the space though.
You forgot to say the whole reason why you got a plane is to avoid traffic haha
This is true 😆
You already had a pilot license?
Nope I bought this plane to get the license
Haha I legit just started buying a lot of TLT.
What is your thesis for entering TLT now?
@@ZentRose It's the most oversold it's ever been historically, to me it's like buying oil when it went negative in 2020. I will be buying a lot more haha, only started accumulating. I've been hearing Yellen will also use the Treasury to start buying bonds as well very soon.
Good move
So even provided you make all your money back selling the plane, it still costs $2000 a month to own. So no, you don’t own this plane for free, you just aren’t paying anymore than you already would be with a different investment
A bet on interest rates and not throwing away money on something else makes it free?
No, it's free if I sell it for more than I bought it. I don't make bets, I make money. Cheers!
Hmmm, an airplane you say….
I’m in TMV, and will get out when the fed stops raising rates.
Hell yeah 🤙🏻.
All my investments are negative, wish I was smart like you
Yep, my retirement accounts (mostly stocks) are in the red as well. This was more luck than anything!
one of the idiots that buy while market bubble
