First time I ever heard Stevie Ray Vaughn was in college in 1982 when a friend popped SRV'S first CASSETTE in my hand. I immediately hit my room and listened to the WHOLE thing in one sitting...AMAZED. YOUR REACTION VIDEO TOOK ME BACK TO THAT MOMENT IN TIME. I just kept smiling and laughing cause our reactions were IDENTICAL. Kinda like finding blues music ultimate bliss.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Stevie Ray Vaughan here is a list of must see Texas Flood and little wing live from El Macombo, life without you live at the Capital Theater look at little sister live in Austin, Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland and last but not least his guitar sound check here he is wearing a leopard coat
Yes!!! All of these!!! I can’t wait to see your next reaction to Stevie. Another MUST from his El Mocambo show, is “Lenny.” Even though it’s an instrumental, it’s one of the most beautiful love songs ever written!!!
Blown away...that is the appropriate reaction especially to first ever listen to SRV. Here, SRV is covering a song originally by Jimi Hendrix. As with Jimi, SRV makes heavy use of a foot pedal to add a certain sound to the notes. I hear SRV is actually using Jimi's foot pedal on loan from the dad of Jimi Hendrix. SRV learned a lot from Hendrix, including stage showmanship. If you watch more SRV, you will see a number of tricks that Jimi originated, performed by SRV. I won't describe all the tricks but will let SRV surprise and amaze you as you watch him play and perform. SRV took what he learned from Jimi Hendrix, some 15 years after Jimi's death, to the next level and became the greatest rock/blues guitarist who ever lived.
It makes me sad that Jimi and Stevie never got to play together - the two of them trading 4's would have been insane. RIP Jimi and Stevie. You both died far too young.
his guitar was named First Wife... when he touched her she would scream with joy and never complain... sometimes watching SRV play feels like watching something forbidden and private but unbelievingly good...
Absolutely must see LIFE WITHOUT YOU 1985 Capitol Theater. For a spiritual experience Riviera Paradise and Lenny are instrumentals that he wrote. A must-see is Texas flood at El mocambo, actually the entire concert at El mocambo is a life-changing experience. His entire concert at Austin 1989 is when he was sober and very sharp and sexy. If you post SRV videos all of his fans will come.RIP SRV
You must listen to Stevie Ray performing "Texas Flood" live at the Mocambo. You will hear even more great guitar and see things you may have never seen. Great performance.
And here's the third side of the coin. Young 10yo Taj Farrant covers both Jimi & Stevie at the same time. Blessed be the children for keeping this sort of music alive. ruclips.net/video/87eB1ttgZSE/видео.html
Hi Ms. P., Mr. Stevie last name is pronounced as only one syllable Vaughan rhymes with Lawn.. Greatest Blues Guitarist ever.. Several performances to check out, U should review his "Sound Check" it is better than most others show.. ♠W.G.
Sometimes Live is Best like with this song. But Sometimes It is the studio version that can't be beat. One example is The Three Degrees "When Will I See You Again" No live version can capture the breath they way the studio did and that is what makes it special. Then there is Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale". It is the haunting sound of the organ that made the song and what everyone remembers, but it is missing in the live versions that used an orchestra. Now for live versions. Deep Purple "Smoke On Water" from the Made In Japan Album. Chicago "Ballet for A Girl In Buchannon" Tanglewood concert. Be sure it is 14 minutes long because there are cut up versions. Also Chicago "25 or 6 to 4" from the same Tanglewood concert. It features Terry Kath of Chicago and he is up there with the guitar greats.
Please check out "Tina S" playing guitar on "For The Love Of God". She is only 17 but plays better than most other professionals with many more years of experience. You will love her!
Now that you have lost your Vaughanginity, "Texas Flood" live at the Mocambo is your next step in the journey! Try to find a bigger screen to watch Texas Flood on! You are not ready! Buckle up buttercup!

It was actually named Number One, he only referred to it as his first wife. Before Stevie found it, it was owned by Christopher Cross

Yours is one of the best reaction vids, I assume your not a guitarist but you are so into the sound, genuine and appreciative.
Please watch him play Lennie!! And then Little Wing. That’s SRV at his absolute best.
