You have to remove the lever to do the re-key process. The Kwikset rekey works with Kwikset key KW1. Our house has E-Z Set lock sets (a secondary brand of Kwikset) but uses KW1 keys and it worked fine. If you don't remove the handle as instructed, your SmartKey tool isn't seating fully.
Thank you so much for this video was very helpful. I was having trouble with two of the parts. One was the handle and also programming. But after watching this like I said it was very helpful. Thank you.
Great tutorial but I can’t figure out why my door won’t close from the outside. It will if I enter the code but you should be able to close the door without doing that. Any ideas what I did wrong or if I have a defective one maybe?
Is it possible you have the part that goes into the door jamb hole backwards or upside down? Around the 25 second mark. Or maybe it is protruding too far out?
Hey brotha, nice video, I need help I got a question. I have the opposite of your problem with the handle, both handles open it and so it wont lock.... where before you programmed it how the handle would move but not engage. Any suggestions?
Only thing I can reckon is if the lock lever on the inside is turned to the right. (Horizontal) It should be vertical to be in lock mode. You might have to put the battery in and switch the lock lever back and forth.
I lost my allen wrench that came with it and forgot what it looks like. Is it just a standard one or is it a special wrench. If so can you please tell me what size or name its called
Nice video I was thinking about this with most of my doors - inside - my son is on the autistic spectrum and storing cleaning supplies and other hazardous stuff away from him and keeping him out of basement is my reason for these
It will automatically lock. If you flip the lever on the back to disable the auto lock function, I don't believe you can lock it from the keypad. At least not without using a physical key.
Just hooked one up. It works nicely except I can’t stand that it won’t lock with a touch of a button from the exterior keypad. Seems like I need to manually leave it locked from the inside or use my key. Anyone else notice this or am I doing something wrong. My dead bolt locks I can hit kwikset button and it automatically locks it. Pretty dumb
Door knob on the outside popped off, thanks to the video figured it needed the key to be able to tighten up the screw. Thanks!

You have saved my butt every time I need to program our locks!!!
Hell yeah brother!!! Finally, someone that can speak with a correct vocabulary. Thank you😎

thank you for the 90 deg. key reminder for tightening the exterior knob!
Great video, well detailed.
Thank you.
Thanks for the video!

I believe it's a standard 3/32 allen wrench. Good luck.
Just installed mine today. Thanks for the tutorial short cut.

Thanks dude. Installed in under 10 minutes
Excellent video. Thanks!
Thank you! Very helpful video sir
Saved me so much time thank you
Thank you so much for this video ❤
Can you unlock the door with just the key?
Yes, indeed. If you don't want to use the keypad, a key will unlock it as usual. This is also important if/when the battery dies.
Could you lock door from keypad?

When i unlock it with the key it lets me in but if i unlock it with the inside it doesnt work??
Not sure ... Unless the battery is dead. You should hear the electronic lock unlock when you turn the level inside to the unlock position.
@@franklylivin The battery is still completely charged since I got it like 3 days ago.
How can I open one of these things I'm locked out
Uh oh... Insert key, turn it clockwise, then turn the door lever. (while key held in clockwise position) If you don't have the key, I'm not sure.
Thank you!!!!!
