- I stumbled on a repost on The PR Girl Manifesto's LinkedIn page which was about whether or not it is a good idea to puruse a Master's degree in Communications/PR. The original poster emphasized the point that from her experience, having a Master's degree doesn't give that much of a competitive advantage in terms of salary and access to senior roleds.
I decided to do this video to share my perspective on the topic and also give some tips for professionals who are considering whether or not to get a Master's degree in Comms/ PR.
I have stumbled into a career in communications from a background in engineering. It tracks when I remember that I was a reporter in primary school and the sole news editor in secondary school. A masters in communications is a non- negotiable because I need the proof of education since it would help me advance in my career. I have enjoyed learning about Comms so far. I hope I’ll enjoy learning more.
Yes, I believe the master's degree will be valuable for you as you keep learning.
Ms Doyin! This was so timely, I’ve been feeling a nudge towards a Masters in Communications recently. Thank you for this
Master's degree in Comms and PR is definitely a yes for me. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry... The only formal education I have in comms are short professional development courses. And for someone who is just starting out (about 1-2 years of experience), I can already feel the knowledge gap.
I agree...that knowledge gap can be quite daunting and formal education helps to close the gap
Your topics are always on point 💯 💯
Thank you so much
