Why is San Francisco Mexico called San Pancho?
There is an easy explanation for why we call San Francisco Nayarit, San Pancho Nayarit, The region was originally named San Francisco by the Spanish conquistadors after St. Francis de Assisi. In Spanish, “Pancho” is the nickname for “Francisco” and thus “San Pancho” is the nickname for San Francisco.
San Francisco, also known as San Pancho, is a Mexican town situated in the State of Nayarit on the central Pacific coast of Mexico about 50 km north of Puerto Vallarta on Federal Highway 200.

While your video is appreciated, the information you have provided is not 'specific' to San Pancho itself, but most of the activities you mention are an hour away, or more. Also, while some of your photos are of San Pancho (with several of the photos clearly older, as there are many more homes on Playa San Pancho in 2023) many of the photos you have put on this video are not of San Pancho. The Rhythm of the Night show is in Puerto Vallarta, which is an hour away. However, to clarify, one of the founders of Cirque du Soleil founded Cirque de Los Ninos, which is a beautiful facility located in San Pancho. They train local children, offer classes and camps teaching acrobatic art. They have yearly fundraisers which always sell out. There are many reasons to love and visit San Pancho. It's a small boho-chic, hippy beach town, with great restaurants, a one mile beach, an awesome 'beach' club called Tierra Tropical, and there is also a beautiful state of the art polo club called La Patrona. Both facilities are located in San Pancho, and are owned/operated by the same team. Polo is seasonal (Nov - May) and the beach club is open for visitors for a small fee which allows you to use their beautiful pool, gym, massage facilities, yoga, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. Tierra Tropical Beach Club is stunning, worth a visit. They are located at the far north end of the beach, in the Las Olas beach area, and can easily be reached by walking the sandy beach north and look for the massive palapa and restaurant. The beach club restaurant is open to all, usually reservation isn't needed, but, worth calling ahead because they will sometimes close for large events and weddings. The "high" season (aka best weather) in San Pancho and the Riviera Nayarit area is November - end of May, with June - July the humid weather begins -- with August-October the most humid, often it rains heavily at night, and tropical storms can appear and really wreak havoc on the beach. The end of October (Halloween time) Mexico celebrates Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) - usually @ Nov. 1. Sayulita (the town next to San Pancho is a 10 minute taxi ride) is extremely lively during this holiday. San Pancho also holds their annual San Pancho Music Festival, usually held at the end of February, and during this time it is very busy in San Pancho. You do NOT need a car if you plan to stay in San Pancho; it's a very walkable town. Parking is a problem in San Pancho, and becoming more so, as the local town managers are making street parking more restrictive (April 2023 onwards) so, unless your hotel or Airbnb provides an assigned parking, it's best to consider having NO car. There are white local taxis in town and they park at a taxi station (ask someone where it is), and while Uber does work well while in Puerto Vallarta (the larger city), the chances of getting an Uber while in San Pancho are more challenging. If you meet a taxi driver it's best to get his phone number and pre-arrange a return to the airport. This info posted July 2023. Tierra Tropical and La Patrona, as well as Cirque de Los Ninos are all found on Instagram, and have websites as well.
