Bravo Alex!!!
Two players who are a joy to watch having had a great week. Good to see Kei back n playing some superb tennus n Muller in such fine form that he took this title❤
Kei's forehand and specially his backhand was on fire the whole week. His serve wasn't penetrating enough in the final but hats off to Muller for keeping his cool through out the week as he lost the opener in every match and still toughen it out to win the trophy.
Damn... Muller's 2023 GrandSlam run consisted of loses against Sinner in RG 1st round, Alcaraz in Wimbly 2nd round, and Djokovic in US 1st round... Talk about luck of the draw ! Happy Muller won a title, hopefully he'll get better draws from now on !
Muller is really an inspiration for the people who are fighting with chronic diseases, he just hangs on and keeps fighting, doesn't have any extraordinary weapon but just keeps fighting.
The ATP has got to sort out this grunting. I can understand as you strike the ball, but not after the ball is already in your opponents side of the court, that is hindrance. Well played, Muller, but those grunts are a bit exaggerated. Kei Nishikori is always the gentleman, in victory and defeat.
People don't grunt on purpose. Or at least the vast majority of players don't (I guess some do once in a while to mess with the opponent). It just happens when you exhale right after hitting hard. The reason why it didn't happen before is just because tennis got harder. Everything is faster, peole run way more, hit harder. It's just become a more intense sport than it used to be. I remember it all started with the clay players who used to win RG every year through sheer power and top spin heavy games. Tireless players like Costa, Bruguera, Berasategui, Kuerten, then Nadal. All heavy grunters. Now everyone is a baseliner. Even on grass the rallies last longer and people hit harder. So more and more people grunt. Anytime you get to a decent level of effort, there will be grunters. It's just a natural thing that happens. If it's still weird to you, maybe you're just a serve and volley player. Or your level is just too low...
Congrats to Muller...it's nice to see players from the Challenger Circuit level up and even win titles...even if he's not one of my favorites good for him. Looking at the highlights the match was tighter than the score shows and it was mostly (like in tennis and other sports as well) how you play certain points at key moments. Even so i'm sure if Nishikori was 100%...Muller who had a great run here would've won this 6-1, 6-0 but hey imo he's not but im really grateful he's back!
wow great win for muller. gotta feel for nishikori but he played well all week and in the final as well, he has nothing to feel down about. ppl will be quaking in their sneakers to see either of those two floaters in their se tion of the draw
The groaning is just nerve-racking and so unnecessary. I have no idea when this trend even started. In the 90s, tennis was definitely easier on the ears. Whenever I hear an amateur player groan like that, I can’t help but laugh. I really don’t get why it’s acceptable for the pros. Apart from that: great match! Nishikori’s game, in particular, is a real joy to watch.

Muller's grunting is annoying. It's this delayed guttural sound that comes out not when he is striking the ball, but as the ball is crossing the net toward his opponent. .
いやホントすごい。あの時の錦織が帰ってきたって感じ。このあと見るのが楽しみになりました。

Great to see Nishikori at this level again!! With all the injuries over the years I forgot how good he truly is when healthy.
and congrats for Alex? no?

Muller has Crohn’s disease so that makes his performance even more impressive.

I’m speechless - great starting final match for 2025! Yeah let’s go tennis 🎾 😂
Is it just me or it looks like Nishikori is hitting with more power than before?
錦織選手は他の人にはまねできないステップワークがある特に横のボールに入るときのステップは素晴らしい。
Congrats to Müller, surprise! Kei maybe can make a comeback. His service motion looks better than before....
