I view using a winch as a thing that you do when you get stuck accidentally or you have to pull something out of a tight spot. People who do this for fun have an odd idea of fun.

i have actually competed against Seamus (the driver) multiple times and he knows what he is doing very well. for the program they pick the wrong line or go too slow on purpose.

Watching all this winching after watching the new Spider man movie with Spidey leaping from place to place with his webs, James doesn't really quite have the same finesse but he definitely should've been in that movie, I would've enjoyed it a lot more... 😂

Here in America we call it "mudding." Guys in big trucks with oversized tires will drive around completely drenched in mud afterwards. They don't even bother to clean it off.
