I choose the dual trac. I used a blank tape marked my 20 yard then sighted in at 60 yards marked the location. Used that blank tape to match with BGs tape and it was spot on.
I would favor the SpottHogg because of the movable 3 pins. Who wants locked down pins? My older favorite is the CBE 3tl slider. 3 movable pins with horizontally mounted pins. Great comparison review here. The Hogg roller wheel speed and length of travel is awesome. That could be a game changer in the field hunting. Not very relevant at the 3-d shoot or practice range. What’s seldom ever suggested is you can ADJUST the draw weight if needed to EXACTLY match a sight tape. But for hunting? 👍👍
Spot Hogg is without a doubt a great sight but I didn't care for the weight. The BG has adjustable pins as well. I ran mine at 20 and 30 for deer season and it worked great. Thanks for watching! I appreciate it.
I’d like to see a non-slider, 2 and 3 vertical pin sight where the pins are adjustable. Trophy Ridge used to have one which was their discontinued Flatliner. I believe it’s a 5-pin Peak now. I have my pins at 15 and 25 yards, so I’m not sighting in at 20 yards, which seems to be the prevailing protocol. Resting and waiting.🙂
Unfortunately, I think your options are limited. I know the Trophy Ridge Non-react V5 is still available, but that's a 5-pin sight, and I'm not sure if you can pull any of the pins out.
I find that I still need to go through a verification step with the Spott Hogg sight tapes. I get it pretty close by shooting at 20 yards and 60 yards. But I usually find I'm a little hot at 100 yards and need to go one or two sight tapes faster.
Thank you for watching and for the comment. It's always a good idea to run through the tapes. At that distance, a yard or two off can make a big difference.
Great video! Love to see more product comparison videos. Spot Hoggs calibration tape is slick feature for sure. But for 3D and long range shooting the sight tape on the outside is kind of a pain since you adjust so often. Overall Black Gold definitely seems to be the more universal option for hunting and competition shooting.
I got to have the large sight housing and peep for low light conditions, we can hunt till an hour after legal sunset and an hour before legal sunrise SH for me. BG has some nice features to though.
I custom ordered my BG Mountain lite slider with the 2” housing and added micro adjustments. I went a different route and ordered it with only two pins as well. Pretty cool they allow you to do that.
I sighted in my pins and held my tapes up to see which was closest and then photocopied the tapes put that on. Then I walked it out and made marks with a pen from 40 to 80. The more references, the better in my opinion.
I would recommend running the smallest ring. With that, you should be able to get to 100. Have you checked out the Dual Track? I can get to 110 yards with my hunting arrow setup.
Couple things about the blackgold unique to sliders on the market. The blackgolds are the only slider i can think of that have an independent vertical micro adjustment. You can dial the slider all the way to the top for your homebase and then micro adjust your 20 yd pin or whatever you choose as your top pin in. And their fiber cover will adjust as the sun comes up or sets so pins dont Starburst.
Depending on your arrow setup, you could sight the BG in at 30, and 40 and just aim a little low at 20. It essentially turns it into a 3 pin sight. I ran it like this for Total Archery Challenge and it worked out great.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I've put a lot of time into researching these two and the axcel landslide and I'm thinking the BG is the winner, especially since the landslide is expensive and rare.
Just the video I was looking for, thank you, the roller wheel design was the difference maker for me
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!

The CBE would be close. Just change the mounting base.

I've been using a cheap truglo for years and I just inherited a nice bowtech with a spott hogg on it and I love it!!
Is it the triple stack?
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors no it's the hogg-it 7 pin I believe.
They make great sights

I ran the triple stack for a yr I do like it. It is very heavy. I ordered the black gold for my other bow but it's on back order. Great video
How do you make the 1st axis adjustment on the Spot Hogg?
It’s hard to explain but you have to loosen one screw and tighten another.
I did a review video on the Spot Hogg explaining the process in depth.
I got to have the large sight housing and peep for low light conditions, we can hunt till an hour after legal sunset and an hour before legal sunrise SH for me.

My Black Gold slider has the big 2” housing. You can custom order from BG the sight with any features you want.
I was not aware of this.

@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors absolutely.
Agreed 👍
How far were you able to run the spot hogg till you ran into clearance issues ??
90 tops. If you are using it as a hunting sight only, it's great but for TAC I would look at the Black gold dual track or the HHA Ryz
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors whats the speed of your arrow ?
Roughly 270ish
@Michigan AmBush Outdoors oh ok im gettin 288 fps so hopin i can get 100 yards at least from tbe bottom pin
I would recommend running the smallest ring. With that, you should be able to get to 100.

I can get to 110 yards with my hunting arrow setup.
Great review!
Thank you!
You could place a piece of shrink tubing on that Spot Hogg locking lever to cut down on that clinking noice
That's a possibility, or hockey tape 😂

Yes! A few other reasons why I really like the BG sights
Yes they are also unique in they will strip if you twist too hard
Are you un-locking the slide lock lever?
Does or is BG make a 3 pin slider
They do but not in a vertical pin.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I'd like a 3 pin vertical slider like the Spot Hog. BG wins out in your comparison

Quick fix for the locking lever on the Hogg is to use a piece of rubber/electrical tape
That’s a good idea. Thanks!
I was lucky enough to match the chrono reading to a tape and it shot great to 100! Doesn’t always do that.
Team black gold 💪🏻
Yeah, you got real lucky.
I walked mine out from 40 to 80, and once I did that, it was dialed.
Spot Hogg is too heavy.
100% agree. I'm running the BG Dual Track.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I've put a lot of time into researching these two and the axcel landslide and I'm thinking the BG is the winner, especially since the landslide is expensive and rare.
I wish I could get my hands on a landslide. I want to use that with the UV3 scope.
