    I was back in the gym within 4 weeks of surgery. I have had zero restrictions on weight lifting. Just made sure I gave a good 4 to 6 weeks so everything could heal. After that, no problem!

      hello Mantic! I face the same problem with you and unfortunately maybe I am on the road for surgery according to the results of manometry and phmetry. I would like to ask you about your symptoms before the fundoplication. Apart from heartburn and belching, did you have any other symptoms of gerd? I am cosntantly burping even with empty stomach ( fortunately without noise, very short burps) but at the same time I also have a constant globus in throat and cough especially after eating. Additionally I have noticed that my heartburn is about to start again two weeks after stopping omeprazole. What was your cause of your reflux? Did you have a hiatal hernia? Sorry for the personal questions but I am quite depressed this period of my life and I worry if there is solution to my problem without future consequences in a case of surgery.

I am 6 days after surgery and getting around fine, struggling a bit with the diet but your videos really helped and i feel that i can have a lot more variety than i was having.. Also the pain after surgery is spot on although i had 6 incisions, have been moving around getting up and down from day 1. Am looking forward to resuming my usual diet i a few days. Thanks.

    • @jdix70
      @jdix70 6 лет назад +4

      It's been 2 1/2 months now and I'm doing great! Absolutely zero heartburn or acid reflux. I haven't taken any medication, not even 1 single tums. I'm enjoying foods that I've avoided for decades. Carbonated beverages are still a problem. I can have 2-3 beers and then I get very uncomfortable due to not being able to burp but that's a small price to pay for the relief that I'm experiencing. I was 245 lbs. before surgery and lost 20 lbs pretty quick. I'm still hovering around the 20lb mark and have seemed to stall at 225lbs. No regrets here, having that surgery was a good call.

    • @MsBoris66

      John Dixon thanks for your feedback, is it hurt of not being abble to burp and
      how long does it last ? I have Hiatal Hernia with trapped wind in the chest now and I just want be sure to get rid of this symptom afeter surgery. Cheers

    • @jdix70
      @jdix70 6 лет назад +1

      I think the "not being able to burp" problem is a permanent side effect along with not being able to vomit. I was told this by my surgeon prior to surgery but again, the relief I'm experiencing far outweighs the burping issue. On a positive note, by not burping my farts have increased substantially and my wife loves that, Lol

    Hey! Thanks so much for your videos! Huge help! I was hoping for the LINX Procedure, but it's too new and was denied. I'm shooting for the Nissen to be done in a couple months. For preparation, it sounds wise to focus on increasing core strength. Is there anything else you'd recommend? Also, if I have a career that mostly involves sitting and some walking, do you think back to work in a week or two? Thanks so much again--you're a Godsend!

    Thanks very much for those videos mate! Very helpful for the rest of us needing to take a decision. Could you please briefly outline what symptoms you had before the surgery, besides heartburn, and whether they have also gone for good?
    For example, I get very bad nausea, bloating, burping, abdominal pain, and a burning sensation ("heartburn") in the lower abdomen (stomach), presumably in an area lower than the LES. Did you have any this at all?
    Many thanks again, and all the best!

    Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't get heartburn instead I have a permanent globus senatation in my throat, phlegmy feel and constantly have to clear my throat and it has also given me sinus issues. The PPI helps but doesn't eliminate the problem. I did almost every test out there to include the 24 hr impedance ph monitor test which came out just 4% above normal and the manometry test came normal. I dont get it. If my doc says the it's only minor reflux and my manometry test came out normal, why am I enduring so much have in my airways (throat and sinuses). Wondering if you experienced anything like this. Also wondering if you were familiar with the linx system (magnetic bracelet) if so, why you chose the nissen fundo instead. Thanks!

      You all really need to try diet before even considering surgery. No offense but i find most with gerd or lpr dont follow a daily or strict diet at first and then wonder why they fell terrible. Get on an acid reflux diet and eat strong probiotic foods like fermented ones. Its a must it isnt a fast recovery but it will heal you eventually and get rid of all symptoms. With this surgery it varies for some it works for some and for some they get 1 year of relief and for others 10 years or so. Diet isnt fun but itll make you feel better over time. Its takes time to recover it took me 3months to recover from lpr pr silent reflux it was very severe and painful diet helped me amd so did fermented foods and milk. I can now eat more stuff like burgers or pizza and so on but not like crazy like i did before you need to grow up and realize you cant eat like before and yes its sad at first but after a while you get used to it after 7 months on this diet i dont miss my trigger foods or care life is more impressive that baf food.your health is.

    I had a nissen fundoplication a year ago it was ok at the first few months but now it becomes even badder after the surgery and it looks like to have another surgery. I will suggest before you go for this surgery better check the surgeon before and make sure what is his success rate and then go for it otherwise waste of money plus alot of pain.

    First of all, thank you so much for sharing information about your experience. You have no idea how helpfull it is for many people like myself who are planning to go through such surgeries and have very little information to make such decsions.
    I have a huge hital hernia. about 10 CM ( 4 inches) wide.
    I live in Houston, TX, and planning my surgery in next couple of weeks.
    I have been told that this kind of surgery may not be permanent, and hernia would probably come back, it is only a matter of time. How long it has been that your surgery is done? and how satisfy are you with your results? If you dont mind sharing where did you get your surgery done, and if you recommend your surgeon.
    And Thanks Again for sharing such positive results regarding your feedback. Very encouraging. God bless you.

      @USMCbratt 3 года назад

      @@Luison40 It'll be 3 years in May and I haven't had any lasting negative effects. It was rough, very rough, but I survived. I was well worth to torture and it was torture. But if I went back in time, I'd do it all over again. Lots of people have told me that you loose a lot of weight (due to not being able to eat properly) but then you gain it all back. Not me. I didn't want to gain it back so I worked hard. I've now lost a total of 80lbs and not looking back. The other thing I will say is that my taste buds have changed. Somethings that I used to like, I can't stand and some sugary things (like jelly for instance) are too sweet for me now. Also, I can't handle dry bread (toast, bagels, buscuits etc) or bacon/sausage. That's find though, it keeps me from going to a fast food restaraunt in the morning hours. Overall, I am very happy to be off all my antacid meds and everything that goes along with the reflux. Thank God.... I am healed!!

      @USMCbratt 3 года назад +1

      @@Luison40 Torture is a bad word to use. Sorry. I just meant not being able to eat and when I did start eating (Mac-N-Cheese etc) it was hard to swallow. If I ate too fast, I would feel really ill. Hard to explain the feeling. There was pain, trust me, but it wasn't excruciating to the point I felt I was going to die. Don't believe people if they say there is not pain involved because there is. Really there is. But, like I said before, it was well worth it. I wouldn't let that stop me from doing it again. If you are considering this surgery, don't be fooled, it is rough. But it is well worth it in the long run. 2.5 years out and I feel no pain, indigestion, vomiting up acid in my mouth or even having sleep sitting up. It is the best thing I have every done in my life, just behind quitting smoking. God bless.

      Hi mantic, Just wondering before you process the nissen, how big is your cardia ? Is very big? or not very big?
      Bascially the health cardia suppost to be closed, and mine is little bit greater. I am 29 years. and have taken ppi and mozapry for the past 3 months,however, I still feeling unconfort after eating some food. My symptom were heart brun, hiccups, Halitosis. What kind symptom you have besides heart burn?

      +John Lee Hi! I'm not sure what the Cardi is.... but as far as my symptoms: Burping and heartburn was really it...

      Cardi is the area in the bewteen stomach and esophagus, while we eating it will open then close, the unhealth Cardi will become large, and acid will come out from the stomach due to the unopen Cardi, The purpose of the Nissen use the top stomach to wrap the top of Cardi . To close the Cardi.
