Brings back memories when i was still in SoCal. Fun climb too, keeps you in shape(!) even though now, i'd probably shred the climb since i've been living at altitude for a minute now (The Peavines, Sierra Nevada range, and numerous other ranges out here). Road ride brings back memories too-fun relaxer post ride; cruise by the beach on the way home.
That climb is a killer for sure . Always see lion $h1t too. Need to go back. 😂 i totally have taken a photo with Spider-Man. Keep up the vids! SoCal all day!
I always find that the super high speed stuff messes with the gimbal more than regular 10-20mph trails. When I was in whistler my Gimbal really did not like A-Line and similar stuff, but on slower speed tech stuff outside the bike park it never seems to struggle like it did on those Whistler braking bumps and huge G-out berms.
Are you using the Hero5 with that EVO SS gimbal? If you are, that would explain the jerkiness on the “drops” or harder hits. The gimbal controls were designed around the weight profile of the Hero4. I found I needed to add about 16 grams of weight to the edge of the side motor to counter balance the roll axis. This can be done easily using two 8 gram sticky wheel weights from your local auto shop. This completely eliminated the gimbal jerks with the Hero5 for me.
Zack, I know you guys run WTB tires, the Vigilante, I bought a new hardtail that came witha Vigilante 2.3 up front and the Trailboss in the rear. I'd like to know which model of Vigilante you guys like, I'm clueless on which model to get for So. Cali..Thanks a bunch, and keep Shredding.
We typically run use the Tough Casing High Grip Vigilante up front all year. For socal the riddler and trail boss tough casing out back is hard to beat.
I just posted my ride of this trail recently as well! Have you tried using an Evo chest guard as a mount instead of the chest harness? It will eliminate all those jutters you're getting.
You prob answered this somewhere but what is the rear travel on your Hightower? That is the new frame for the standard 135mm travel but are you running something different?
That's an awesome ride but.... it seems you sped up the play-head by 1/4 or 1/2 right? At that speed, I dunno how you didn't go flying off or slicing through some of those berms, especially the fact that some of them aren't exactly packed tight. I was just up there last week (again) and ya, it's dusty and loose in many parts. Awesome regardless.
R I P P I N G !! Tough lighting for the GoPro on that run. The gimbal didn't look to stabilize as well as usual...lots of quick little jutters. I cannot wait for the day someone makes a camera that does better in low and changing light, and more importantly...can eliminate the gimbal. Have you given the Rylo a solid chance at doing these forward facing chest mount videos? Is it the audio that is the Rylo killer more than anything else? I'm so sick of dealing with gimbals that I would be willing to get audio from a separate source...maybe another GoPro with dead cat on my helmet. From the reviews I've seen, the color on the Rylo looks better than the Hero 5, but haven't seen it compared to the 6 yet. Either way...SOMEONE INVENT A BETTER MOUSETRAP!!!
As a side note, please let me know if you decide to send it to Evo for a "tune up." I'm curious to know what they charge for that service. I'm sure it will depend on if it needs to have parts replaced, etc., but I'm just wondering. Reason is...with a lot of electronics like that, by the time you pay for shipping and the repair, it ends up being close to the cost of just replacing it. Buying from Evo makes sense with the USA HQ in Oregon, but if the cost of repairs is too high...it's really not a benefit. I'm stunned at how well my two Feiyu Tech gimbals have held up, but I keep expecting them to crap the bed any minute....knock on wood. STILL HOPING FOR SOMETHING TO REPLACE THE GIMBALS!!! C'mon entrepreneurs....develop a killer camera for us!
Come join our May Luge challenge. The more the merrier!! Plus it will give you more opportunities to say "Luuuge" . You were flying....most of us aren't that fast.
I could hardly recognize the trail at the speed you are riding. Good thing for me is my ride lasts two or three times longer on the downhill run compared to you. The ride up the road from Cook's Corner is no fun in the heat.
Trail Peek nice !...Can you tell me what was the worst fall you’ve had so far while riding clips ?...Something that you just could not unclip in time to bail out ...
Man you were absolutely HAULING down that trail!!!
theres mountain biker youtubers and theres trail peek, on a whole different level of speed
What a speed. Great ride Randy!
My Ripmo is calling for Da Luge...🤘🤘🤘🚴🏼♂️🚴🏼♂️🚴🏼♂️🚴🏼♂️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Holy speed of light, Randy!
Looks super fast and flowy. Definitely going to have to check this trail out :)

That looked like it was in 1.5x speed. Nice line
Talk about pining it! What a killer trail, awesome video!
Now this is a trail. Well done!
That is a super cool trail, only done it once and loved it, I must say that you must be crazy to ride it that fast!
Damn Zach you killed it! I haven't ridden there for years. That climb sucks hahaha
That climb is a killer for sure . Always see lion $h1t too. Need to go back. 😂 i totally have taken a photo with Spider-Man. Keep up the vids! SoCal all day!
TP, holy moly dude your speed is insane!!,.....thanks for sharing the fun dude!
Randy thanks for posting. I've heard The Path Podcast talk about this... now I see how rad this trail is.
Like I said, its a classic trail!
That speed! Amazing!
pushing the limits man, fast as hell. love it
cheers for sending 2 T-shirts instead of 1 Dane. Really appreciate it man.
You're welcome! Glad it arrived safe!
That's awesome, I have wanted to see this trail ridden, they talk about it on the "Path" podcast all of the time! I'm on the wrong coast I think.
Brakeless MTB riding! That’s a new one...
Dannnng! that looks like fast forward lol! Rock on and ride safe
Been waiting for this one since the IG preview!
Fun to see you hitting one of my regular stops - I'll be there again tomorrow night as matter of fact.
Rad trail to have close by!
I have no idea how you go from being in the sun to being in the shade without losing the trail. Wearing those blue blockers fisherman wear?
Like cool runnings with dirt 😁
Dang we need one of those here at Water Dog
do u think a gimbal is still worth it? some mtb videos and filming my kid around park playground etc. i like how the gimbal moves around effect view
dude, you were SOOOO fast. That was sick! 🤘
Thanks brother
up for a super blood moon and I'm watching this, haha

Chris Spinner nope this is the GoPro 4 black. Probably just our gimbal getting old!
how quick are your runs - flying through that straight fast part about mid way down the run
Damn those high speed manuals must feel awesome.
Love giving the back wheel some love
Damn. are you getting even faster!
Socal trails, straight and fast!
How does the DVO fork compare to your previous fox 36?

Evo isn't rated for warp speed! Sweet trail and thanks for sharing it.
I just posted my ride of this trail recently as well! Have you tried using an Evo chest guard as a mount instead of the chest harness? It will eliminate all those jutters you're getting.
We use the Stunman Chest mount. I think the gimbal is falling apart from the beating its taken.
The problem is with the gimbal. Its basically broken. Im using the stuntman.
You prob answered this somewhere but what is the rear travel on your Hightower? That is the new frame for the standard 135mm travel but are you running something different?
Im on the standard frame so 135mm rear travel
Uhhh, that's not Randy y'all. Dude, best riding vids on RUclips hands down.
We are all Randy haha Cheers!
Riding alone lately, where is your brother?
He couldn't make it on this trip
Damn that was fast
Dude, fast!
That's an awesome ride but.... it seems you sped up the play-head by 1/4 or 1/2 right? I think you are looking at SoCal "winter" conditions.
Hahaha! Now that's funny! "Winter" here in LA area and Long Beach? Hahaha!
Yeaaah Wide angle!!!!
Superview!
Do you even drift bro!? lol
Fine and dandy is good ol' Randy.
Yew!
Only sometimes haha
Bananas. Sweet video.
How do you go that fast..
LMAO, Love how you just tame the beast.
really like your content man but please use more footage from your 360 cam, love those shots
We'll get some 360 footy soon!
When you're wearing a t-shirt in the middle of the winter and im here almost freezing to death wearing 2 thermo layers
MountainMatt it was 80 here in Socal today 😅
Winter aka when temps get down to 60 or maybe even 50F

I think I'll post up a video using just Rylo footy soon. This gimbal is a little old so its not working too well anymore
As a side note, please let me know if you decide to send it to Evo for a "tune up." I'm curious to know what they charge for that service. Sometimes i think that these two lack a sense of self preservation. Very impressive riding indeed
Where’s Dane?
Working lol
🌎
I’m pretty sure that your brakes don’t work! The only way no go that fast is to not have brakes.
I always properly lube my brake pads before every ride
Nuts
Here before 1000 veiws
I bet "EVO" moments like that make you wish that Rylo had a bit better video quality.
Not only that, but the Rylo is easier to use. Cant wait for that thing to get a bit better
I could hardly recognize the trail at the speed you are riding. Good thing for me is my ride lasts two or three times longer on the downhill run compared to you. The ride up the road from Cook's Corner is no fun in the heat.
Its just super exposed and you bake in the sun. Worth the DH though!
I always forget to ask ...Flats Or Clips ??
Clips!
Trail Peek nice !...Can you tell me what was the worst fall you’ve had so far while riding clips ?...Something that you just could not unclip in time to bail out ...
So it's not just a clever name I see
I think I went half that fast once
Dude, you were ripping, so fast. Looks like I was watching a video in fast forward, but I wasn't.
One of my favorite trails. Last time I went I fell on the loose part. Check it out! ruclips.net/video/VTrUo28nM8U/видео.html
Pinned bruh!
brog name is like wearing hat on backwards is that a big boy name? needs upbeat music
FAST.
