- Here Mike talks through how to be prepared for a Department of Transportation (DOT) Inspection. If you're pulled over by an officer, you'll need to have the following in your truck:
mastcdl.com/dotinspection.pdf
• Valid State Commercial Driver’s License
• DOT Medical Card
• Insurance Forms for the Truck
• Registration for the Truck
• Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Book
• ELD Guide + Instruction Sheet for the proper ELD unit
• Blank Logbook (or at least 8 blank paper log pages; we recommend 10)
• Bill of Lading for the load that you are hauling and Paperwork
• IFTA license + sticker with matching license year
• Annual Vehicle Inspection (AVI) Sticker
• A good attitude! Always remain respectful when communicating with a DOT officer
NOTE: If an ELD is malfunctioning, the driver will need a letter from Mast Trucking stating that an ELD malfunction has occurred, and he will be running on paper logs (an email version of this letter is acceptable). If an ELD is not working, this document is required to avoid a citation. This letter will be dated and valid for up to 8 days.
WOW am I ever glad I retired from trucking, when I did, way to much B.S. now a days. This has gotten ridiculous.
Is a ELD required now or can paper logs still be used?
If you on the road and your ELD isn’t working how do you get a letter from the company. Inspection is supposed to be on drivers side window. Never n 45 years has anyone asked for a copy of the driving regulations.
Tell them to screw a pig drive off to there scale get out throw the keys away , fight the whole dot
