I got lucky getting the pieces that I have. I sorted through 5 or 6 5 gallon buckets of rough and my payment was picking out some for myself.
(I got to pick too haha)

That fire agate turned out awesome. I think you should have polished it all the way around. I could see through the matte finish on the back some sagenite sprays in there and those are gorgeous! But it turned out beautiful and i love fire agate! not enough people in this community do fire agates!
Thank you! and I think you are right...I should've done the whole piece. I do have a couple unfinished slabbed pieces that have sagenite sprays. Didn't even pick them for the color haha
I have more that I had stashed away to polish. I was just waiting for a time where I had special bits to work them. Now I have the bits...I just need the time now :)

I love fire agate, and you turned that into one helluva rock.
I have some Aguas Calientes fire agate I've been playing with, but I'm using a knock-off of the knock-off Nova points & a mystery polishing stick. No bueno. They definitely need some cerium oxide, before they're considered "show- ready." Especially after seeing the shine you just put on that little beauty.
Well, at least you tried those tools as a reference point! It never hurts to try different things out to see how they compare.

Very beautiful you did a great polishing job on that! Absolutely is gorgeous! I didn't even know agate could look like that I was always under the impression that they were just a dull and boring stone, boy was I wrong you made me change my mind now!

I have some fire agate and am trying to figure out whether to cab or carve it. Any particular reason you went with cabbing here? The end result looks great, of course!
Each piece deserves a different way to be worked. I have pieces that need the nova points that I still have yet to try out but I chose to cab it because it was the easiest to do for the video :)
all the fire agate i have has no color where can i find some good rough to cab or polish a nice specimine for my xmas gifts i send out. If I go to Al and Merels would they help me find a nice piece?
I didn't get the fire agate from Al but I feel like he might have some...but I'm also not 100% sure. You can always call him in advance to see what he has! I should stop by there soon anyways.
Depending on when you plan on visit, send me an email and I can see if I'm free to make it to his shop!

It is not at the moment. But who knows - I may always change my mind since it's not the best piece I own!
