    Okay, lots of songs here that you NEED TO CHECK OUT
    1. Maula Mere Maula - Anwar
    This song is a whole vibe. Pure bliss.
    2. Chiggy Wiggy - Blue
    Yes, that's Kylie Minogue. Composition by Rahman. A complete banger.
    3. Wo Lamhe - Zeher
    One of the best songs by Atif.
    4. Tumse Milke - Main Hoo Naa
    Watch it for Sonu. Or for SRK. Or for the pure madcap visuals.
    5. Tere Bina - Guru
    Another beautiful composition by Rahman. The visuals are stunning!

    7:02 KAJRA RE is like a must react to . Kajra Re (. Kohl-like dark (eyes))[1] is a song composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, written by Gulzar and sung by the playback singers Alisha Chinoy, Shankar Mahadevan and Javed Ali. The song became extremely popular among the masses[5] and was hugely successful on Indian music charts.[6] The Hindustan Times described it as "the reinvention of the qawwali by Shankar-Ehsaan-Roy and Gulzar" and called it "the item number of the decade."[7] Kajra Re featured on top in Rediffs 2005's list of top 5 songs.

    2000s, for me, is definitely the peak of experimentation in Indian music. There was qawaali, pop songs, rock songs, party tracks, romantic ballads, heartbreaking songs, disco beats...I mean, literally every kind of song was produced in the 2000s. Music composers like AR Rahman, Vishal-Shekhar, Salim-Sulaiman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Pritam Chakraborty, etc gave back to back chartbuster songs back then. There were versatile and energetic singers like KK, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mohit Chauhan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Mustafa Zahid, Atif Aslam and many more. Some of the 2000s songs which you should definitely check out are Tere Bina, Twist, Woh Ladki Hain Kaha, Suraj Huwa Madhham, Hai Junoon, Khuda Jaane, It's The Time To Disco, Sach Keh Raha Hain Deewana, Woh Lamhe(YOU MUST CHECK OUT THIS SONG SUNG BY ATIF ASLAM) and Zara Sa (this song is highly highly recommended). Believe, me you will enjoy every single song 👍

    Desi comes from the word Desh, which means country in a lot of Indian languages. So Desi in India means mostly like people from country side. Outside of India, initially Indians called themselves as desi, more in the sense of country men. But then white people caught the term and started calling everybody desi. I don't think so Indians mind that term being used for others too actually.
    And I agree so much with you on terms being not offensive back in the day. It is still common in India to address different races by their colour directly. Its this American political sensibilities have made shit complicated. People earlier used to focus on context and intention before getting offended.

    My understanding is that "Desh" in Hindi and a few other Sankskrit based Indian languages means "nation" or "country" so it is referring to India, for obvious reasons. Therefore, "Desi" generally means Indian. I don't know if the same term is used in other South Asian countries like Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc. Maybe it is now, but not sure if that was always the case.

    "Desa" means "country" in many Indian languages. So "Desi" means "countrymen" or you can say someone who is more rooted to our indian culture. It is generally used to differentiate from someone who is modern or influenced by western culture. So we use desi like.. Desi food, desi girl, desi boy, desi dance and so on.
    Btw Bangaldesh, Pakistan they were all part of India and influenced by indian culture. So they also use Desi, but its widely used in india especially in north and east india.

    You can have multiple long duration podcasts ONLY dedicated to EMRAAN HASHMI and still you don't wanna stop. That guy is crazy. He probably had the highest success rate in the entire country when it comes to chartbusters, music,songs & albums in his films. 2003-2023 this guy's songs are unbelievable unbeatable.

    Yes. Indian movies tend towards the longer side, compared to western ones.
    DESI - technically means local. But when an Indian person says “desi” we mean Indian (person, food, clothing, tradition etc)

  • @iReactat
    @iReactat Год назад +1

    Desi means 'from the country' a rough equivalent would be 'local'. 'Desh' means country in hindi, and in hindi most adjectives ends with -i. Widesi another word that comes from 'desh' means a foriegner. So it doesn't have to do anything with the geographical area. Technically and linguistically speaking you could be called desi as an American if you speak hindi. But you're not entirely wrong, the word being used for indian subcontinent people like Indians Bangladeshi (see the second part of the word has desh in it), pakistani etc., mostly because of the convention. I've not seen sri Lankans using desi though coz they speak mostly tamil and their other languages.

    @maryam77720 Год назад +2

    desi isn’t just specific to India. Most Pakistanis, Indians and bangladeshi would refer to themselves as desi. though bhutan, nepal, sri lanka and maldives also might use it but mostly it’s for ppl that were part of the british indian subcontinent aka modern day pakistan, hindustan and bangladesh

    12:30 Desi means Native or local.
    So anything that is native to your country or place can be considered as Desi.
    It can be Desi food, Desi clothes, Desi songs etc.

    The people from the British Colony of Indian before 1947 are called Desi.

    Yes, desi refers to people that are at all once originated from or closely culturally related to India, mostly India, Pakistan and Bangladesh because they all used to be one before partition.
