- Experience old New York as your great-grandparents did. A 1903 AI Restoration of a vintage silent film taken on New York's Lower East Side. Now in 4K 60 fps w/sound.
Filmed at a street market in New York's Lower East Side, where several pushcart vendors have gathered to sell their goods. In the foreground are fruit and vegetable carts. An elevated railroad track crosses over the street in the background. While early automobiles were now being seen along manhattan's wealthier district, the horse and carriage was still the main source of travel in 1903.
AI restoration by Glamourdaze, using deep learning machines to help colorize, interpolate and upscale film shot at 15 fps, to high fidelity 4K resolution at 60 fps.

All these people are gone, we also will be gone, we really should make the most of it with our little time😮
Had the same thought…😔
👏👏👏👏
Whenever I worry about things, like my children or other seemingly “big deals” I think people and mothers long ago worried and felt like something was insurmountable and now no one remembers and that’s all gone. It sounds sad but it’s actually very freeing for me. It helps me remember that everything always works out, one way or the other.
Yes for sure! First thing I think we should do is stop subscription to Hollywood movies and streaming services that promote racial politics, sexual orientation, Satanism, and witchcraft! These are brought to the forefront in order to divide us, and keep us from holding the ones with power accountable. This would eliminate about 80% of our self imposed strife and infighting. then we could direct that energy towards holding the ones with power and money accountable to moral and universal law.
You are so right 💕
You might not believe how much I enjoy your videos. They've already helped me a lot with my anxiety. I don't know how to explain it, but this 'time travel' through your videos makes me feel nostalgic about times I've never even experienced. Somehow, it's very calming and feels close to my heart.
I'd really like to have one long video made from all the short ones you've created. If you include sounds like those from the city and people chatting, it would make the perfect ASMR video for me. I could just play it on my TV and leave it on for hours. It would be very relaxing...
Good idea, mate. Good luck for everyone out here. :)
Love these little moments of time travel, so amazing! Thank you!
Its hard to put into words how watching these videos makes me feel. I think the most prominent feeling is that life is so so incredibly fast.
My grandfather sold fruits and vegetables from a pushcart when he was a young boy in New York.
That's probably him in the video tossing the apple up and down, so...
If only these people knew that they would be watched by people 120 years later.
People in 120 years might say the same of us now.
And with so many views!
@@Urko2005people in the future will be so lucky because if we can watch videos from 120 years ago
That means people in 2300 will be able to watch videos from 300 years ago because technology keeps getting better
If only cameras existed in 1600 it will be nice seeing how they lived
@@sasorah6414 look at the streets today, homeless, drug addicts, vicious street crimes and home invasions. Take your pic, honestly.
Just to hear the background on this. No cars and it just feels a more "sedate" pace of life. Like these little visits back to the past...it's cool.
Alexander Imich was born the same year this was filmed. He died in 2014 at the age of 111 years. He was the oldest chemist, parapsychologist, zoologist, and writer.
The quality is simply amazing ! Looking forward to B&W movies going to color ! 🎉👏
I wonder what made people film these random street scenes at that time. Filming must have been very expensive at that time. Were they aware that they are documenting history? Were they just playing around with their gear? I would really love to know.
Ooohhh I love all your posts and this one is no exception. What a privilege to be able to see these wonderful souls roaming the earth way back then. It's such a treat to walk with them in their everyday lives. Thank you for doing what you do so well.
Its not real. Its AI
@@SpicyLoops it's actual film from that period which is steadied and enhanced using modern technology
This is magical thank you ! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Incredible! Thank you for this glimpse into the past!
A million thanks for the great videos sincerely Jose Silva.
We will be watched millions of years later.
Impressive footage
20 years has changed everything everywhere
That's a lot of Bowlers.
Just incredible. I truly get lost in these. Please keep making them 😮😮😮😮

Love Love it OMG this was absolutely amazing ❤️
This was a good example & use with GOOD of AI. Thank you
the LES 🙌🏼
all those poor people …. the way large families were cramped in teeny tiny apartments ….
i love all the lower east side history
🙌🤫
These are marvelous!
Thank you! It is wonderful to see.
1 OF THE POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT AI
Ahh yes..i remember...Both good times and not-so-good times...that was me pushing the cart at 0:24
Was that you pushing the cart at 0:24? So how old are you now?
Very old. Unfortunately, i must use a walker now.
@@filmsforsmartpeople3587 Some people of that time are already dead perhaps
@@juniorchavesopicassodeyahu988- Not, perhaps. All of them in the video are definitely Dead. The oldest living person right now was born in 1907. Yep, definitely all dead.😇
Awesome! 🎉
I love All your videos 😊
As hard as the lives of these (mostly Jewish) residents of the old Lower East Side were, they and their families had escaped the Holocaust that was to take place nearly 40 years later in Europe.
Dude stealin
its hard to believe the difference we see in NY streets then and now, only 120 years apart
♡
This is what 60 fps is for. Not Mad Max.
Nice! First thing that struck me is the policeman in the back. I guess there was no shortage of donuts in 1903. 🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩
Before the Titanic had even finished being built. ❤
Wondering about the added soundtracks to these silent films. Who creates them?
My old neighborhood.
Pretty sure that's me or my brother in the background as young kids walking on the sidewalk.
You don’t see people yelling and screaming about not filming them.😊
Lol!!! The majority didn't know what it was 😂😂😂
Bello ..ma triste
I wonder…where do all these people put their carts when they go home for the day? Surely they’re not dragging them up flights of stairs and squeezing them into NY apartments, right?
Where’s the selfies!?!? 🤔
Is the music added to the video or were people playing music off-camera?
Sound wasn’t a part of film-making until about 1927. These are soundtracks added
👏😊💕
Look at it now... smh
Ragtime
The speed of this video is too slow. Its recognizable by the apple the boy throws in the air, and the steps and legs the horse makes (even when the horse is not running, i know that... but espescially the toes of the horse would move faster, even when the horse itself is going slow). I speed up the video to around 1,5x ... and that looks more realistic.
As for every kind of these videos, the lazy AI restoration makes the video at best 'a vague impression of the colors'... the colors have a very narrow range, and are almost ever brownish tint - even when it comes to the greens (like the grapes), or the reds (like the apple).
The only thing which is well done by the allgorithms is the slightly increased resolution, and the frame interpolation.
Dont know why its always so important to be lazy with those restaurations.
*restorations ✌️
Very very few people have such specific knowledge of this. We’re mostly just grateful to see color over the ubiquitous B&W that divides present day from the past
And you worked for Steven Spielberg by the sounds of it?
im sure the general IQ at the time is... 3
The good old days before woke culture came to west 😢
little did they know how far we would advance with selfies and social media
Hello human Cheese. Your comment is cheesy. Cheeses should be cultured. But your cheese is spoiled.
