I've never seen this and don't really have the desire to. I think the original is a solid film. The women even in the original had something distinct about them. It could even be seen as feminist. Olivia Hussey and Margot Kidder are good examples of this. There's also the whole obscene phone call thing in the original. It's said by a character you're supposed to dislike. I think it's more about how the film is written. Sociopolitical undertones can work in a film but there needs to have more dimensions to it. When you don't have that, your film runs the risk of being preachy. This film seems like a bad version of a Diablo Cody script. It thinks that its smarter and hipper than it really is. The original balances this better by having the women be characters all their own, but not making it look like an echo chamber in movie form.
