Seriously. Saw them in Chicago in 2022 and watching them on RUclips live does no justice. You feel the music through your whole body live from how loud it is.
The song was a reply to the constant "they're glorifying Naziism"-accusations. They got the accusation again most recently for "Angst", where someone in the "Stern" newspaper talked about how they "use red white and black like the Nazis". The Stern's logo is red white and black.
This song does refer to a heart as such, but it has an alternative meaning. It's a political song. This song is a response to several media outlets and other figures who brandished them as Nazis. This was based on things such as their first album cover, which has them standing together with some members having dyed blonde hair, and this was supposedly representing the Aryan race according to the critisizers. Alternate art of the album cover was later done because of this. They also attacked Till for rolling his R's like Hitler. Plus other things but this meant they were Nazis according to the criticisizers So as a response ,this song was made and the "left" meaning they are left wing. "They want my heart on the right spot, But then I look below it beats left there"
so tired of hearing this "explanation". Almost noone has ever thought Rammstein were "nazis" and they were never really brandished as such. Stop repeating this horseshit.
@@Monscent When they started to become famous in Germany in the mid-end-90s there were some people who thought they are "right wing". Because of the way Till sings (the rolled "R" like Hitler did), the way they presented themselves on some album art etc pp. There definitely were accusations back then. But very soon everyone with at least half a functional brain realized they aren't particular political and - if at all political - 100% not "right wing". I (loosely) follow their career from the beginning. I was a teenager when they popped up and I am from the same city as they are.
One of my all time fav live songs. It's just an unbelievable feeling singing this alltogether with thousands of others. I hope this f*cking covid pandemic is almost over in Mai and June for Leipzig and Berlin. And i really hope you can see them live in North America! I am so curious about your reaction after the concert!
In this song, Rammstein explains that they are politically left-contrary to the rumors that they are politically right- they were, not all together, a punk band in the DDR. LG Christian of Vienna
Banger! Damn rigth they play it live, it´s one of their bigges hits from their earlier years next to "Du Hast" and "Sonne". If they don´t ask for the complaint book.
In words of Flake: "If you think this song is about being left wing you receive the wrong message, this is not about being on left wing, is simply a response to the media, that we can make powerful music without being nazis". Every member has their own political opinions. The "left 234" is a walking pace. Links 2 3 4 they did to reject the false accusations of the media that they are nazis, Amerika they did in response to the Iraq war, but all in all their art is apolitical. "Not everything is political, but it is a very German thing to try and find the proverbial fly in the soup. Plus we're German. @@Serphe666 Bro, all of those apolitical. Mention of society facts or history in songs doesn't make them political unless they clearly promote a mindset of a political party. They just provoke, like they always did.
Oh, this IS a political song. And definitely about being left. Context matters. And there’s a lot of context… Btw. Flake is married to the grand-granddaughter of one of the first MP of the GDR. I know that especially in the US it is very hard to comprehend what it means in Europe to be left. But after having followed Feeling B from 1989, having read Flakes and Till’s books, having spent two days with Till, following Flakes podcast, believe me, it is a strong statement. „They want my heart in the right place, but when I look down: it’s beating on the left…“
This song is BRUTAL the way in which they have such crowd control...great reaction as always! IDK where you guys live but there are plenty of tickets left here in the U.S. if this Rona shit ever goes away..Chicago in September form me..I'm a little STOKED ...Mind you I'll be 57 by then..From AC-DC to ZZ Top I've seen all the greats in their prime but Zeppelin..never looked forward to a concert so much! Keep up the great reactions!
That song is not about hearts, its a political statement. It was written at a time, when they were considered by many as a nazi-band (Sie wollen mein Herz am rechten Fleck / They want my heart on the right spot). To me the song playes on 3 levels. There is the miltary style beat and the marching, which seems to confirm the accusation. Then the main lyrics are pretty much none-sense - german proverbs about heart put into the form of a question. And then there refrain, that contradicts the accusation (Da schlägt es in der linken Brust / It beats there in the left breast). This could also be a reference to a book by one of the social-democratic leaders at the time Oskar Lafontaine "Das Herz schlägt links" (The heart beats left). That we will never know, since they never discuss their songs in public. As so often, the actual meaning hidden in the song is the opposite of what it seems at a first glance.
Yeah don't worry. They do that one in every show ever since that song exist. Same as Sonne, Ich will, Du Hast and Keine Lust. 5 never missing live songs.
Links 2 3 4 was the second song from their 2019 Stadium Tour show. It will probably stay there during the 2022 shows. The red banners didn't just unroll on the main stage but also on the speaker pillars between the audience.
I’m sure that you guys have heard multiple times by now, but it’s always worth checking a different live performance for a different WOW factor…same song, just from 2016 festival ruclips.net/video/-IWTgYnQsgQ/видео.html
hey guys, so since you like rammstein, slipknot and sabaton you can check out TADIO TAPOK. if not on your channel, then just in your free time. so radio tapok is a guy named oleg abramov, he's a russian cover artist who translates the lyrics to russian, plays ALL the instruments and even remakes the music vieos if it's possible. guys from sabaton like him so much that they covered one of his songs (which he recorded in the style of sabaton) and he performed with them on their tour in moscow.
They made this song because the right wing of the German government kept trying to say that rammstein were nazis so they made this song as response. They lyrics are like saying essentially "they keep saying my heart is on the right but it's on the left and the left should start a March and that their still around." The left being the left wing but his literal left side of his chest where his heart is. Nazis were very right wing and the fact that the right wing German gov was trying to say rammstein (who are very very big leftist ant anti nazi, anti right and anti authoritarian) are nazis is just ironic so they just wanted to respond cuz till personally got tired of that kind of slander they were receiving.
In Germany left and right are standing for opposite political directions. Left is for socialistic, peaceful, democratic directiom and right is for Nazi, antidemocratic, violent direction. Rammstein is often put into the right direction, because of their hard, harsh sound and their sometimes brutal behaviour. Even the rolling R in the German launguage stands for Nazi Germany (Adolf Hitler did that too in his hateful speeches). But Rammstein was a Punk Band and Punks hate Nazis ! So they are singing : My heart beats links (left), in the left chest ! So they are trying to make clear that they are no Nazis. It's difficult to explain to foreigners... Germans carry a kind of trauma !
It seems that Halloman has beaten me to the punch here. Yes, there were people that believed that Rammstein must be a bunch of Nazis because they are from Germany and play heavy music. Idiots.
