I am surprised you didn't mention gaming capabilities. The 10" tablet form factor is great for playing mobile games, where the iPad would win due to running iPadOS (which in my experience has much better controller support compared to the same games in Android). The Surface by contrast has access to PC games and emulated Android games through Windows Subsystem For Android. Or at least I hope it does, and doesn't lack some virtualization feature. Yet at the same time, PC games are effectively limited to very undemanding titles, and I'm not sure if the performance is sufficient for a wide range of Android gaming either.
Update: The seller has given me a partial refund. had chosen the more expensive "Excellent condition (Refurbished)" and instead was sent one that was acceptable ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA ."Excellent condition- Cosmetic condition: Excellent (Screen: no scratches. The iPads software restricts alot of software programs to run on it. For example : if u do office work on ms excel . Excel is kinda half baked in iPads app with less features . Also the typing experience might not be as comfortable As typing on a laptop cuz it's small and the keyboard with it is small too
i wanted an ipad but i didn’t have a laptop so i bought a surface go. it worked well as a laptop and perform less like a conventional tablet. i bought another laptop recently and my hand is itching to get a proper tablet that could write and i was gifted samsung a7 lite . it is a proper tablet but no writing. oh my ipad..
maybe i get the surface pro to pair with my more beefy surface laptop. but idk yet XD cuz I want a tablet so I can draw on, sync with my other devices via Google Drive. Also want a tablet with desktop like features such as web extensions.

I run a small business and work from home and would just use it for simple use like emails, MS office and the internet. I do travel sometimes and I like the fact it’s smaller and portable and not as bulky as a traditional laptop. I’m Curious in your opinion if the surface go 3 will be enough or should I just look into a full on surface pro?
Very IMPORTANT !!! the IPad cannot stand on its own . The Surface is well known to have a great edge in this respect . Dont be fooled by the specs as well , the Surface screen actually looks better . LCD is better for the eyes actually .

I plan on learning I.T. and getting all my certifications at some point. Right now I plan on getting my Apple certifications for Device Support and Deployment & Management, as well as getting my Microsoft Fundamentals certification before diving into getting my CompTIA+ certs. For the Apple certs they recommend getting an iPad and a mac that can run the latest OS (have the iPad, need the mac. Probably gonna get a cheap Mac Mini for that) and I plan on using a PC of some sort for the Microsoft Fundamentals certs as well as the CompTIA ones. I don’t really need a super expensive PC, but I don’t necessarily want to get a $50 ebay find either as those are usually bulky devices back from the early 2000s lol. All I really need is something to learn the basics on such as active directory, command prompt, etc. as well as being able to dual boot Linux on, which from what I seen is possible on the Go tablets. I don’t care about the touchscreen functionality of it or not needing a keyboard since I already have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse that I use with my iPad from time to time. So with all that being said, would the Go tablets be a decent option for learning IT, or should I just try to stick with a cheap regular laptop from a third party like Acer or Lenovo? I just like the form factor of the Go being a tablet so it can fit comfortably in my backpack alongside my ipad and keyboard/mouse.

Quite a few Reddit posts on how to do it - I presume the appeal for this device would be its form factor and transportability on top of learning IT on it, in which case I would agree that this is a good option - However, that is predicated on you not running anything too intense on the PC. It won't be able to do too much, so if you're only doing basic to mildly complex tasks, it should be fine enough. But, make sure you do some more research on this topic. You might see, I just started IT school, about a month ago I started building an Excel based invoicing system for my business, and found out that my iPad is basically worthless for anything to do with macros or writing code. And we are a mobile service type business, so I’m seriously considering getting a surface to work on the system when It’s not practical to use the laptop. And the surface tablet may become general issue once we implement the system.
why do these yoyos make comparisons that no one cares about, if you're in one camp you're not moving to the other.. let alone a goofy tablet OS vs a full blown Windows OS...
The surface go and pro lines are not laptops, they are tablets with laptop features. Microsoft said it themselves

I tried emulating android games on my surface go 3, it was laggy as hell :p

Yes you can use the USB C to connect it to an external monitor.
