I believe that the tweak Penix made to his throwing motion at his pro day was meant to address the accuracy on his short and intermediate throws. He looked good at his pro day but he would need to work on it for a long time to lock it into muscle memory. Penix works the pocket really well though I would not expect that to work with the poor interior play on the Vikings offensive line.

I just hate it every time someone questions Penix ability to threw in the middle, especially that one game. Did someone watch Penix through out the season? Ever questions Washington offensive play calling? Or personnel on the field at the time in the middle? Ever consider who is his trusted WR1? Experts can say Penix does not like to threw in the middle all they want but saying he does not have the abilities to? If any at all, it would be a timing thing with his WR3 for a guy who is known for throwing deep & on the spot. Penix got the ball out of his hand quickly too. Penix mechanic a major problem?

I think the only thing that is holding him (Penix) down is his medical. Obviously he is a risk in that sense but they all are for one reason or another. Anyone that has sense and watches the film can see he is a really good QB. He has great ball placement and he's good at avoiding sacks and improvising. Watch the play against Oregon St in the rain. One of his low Comp% games but it was raining with a lot of drops but he has a play where he scrambles to his left and throws over 2 sets of defenders to hit his guy on the sideline in the endzone. If we end up with Maye, McCarthy or Penix I will be excited.

    Purple Daily,
You might want to move away from QB talk. You’ve exhausted this topic.
Even on draft night. The topic is exhausted. Nothing can be said that hasn’t already been said.
Viking fans basically had their omfg moment when they traded up for #23.
I would talk about current Viking players.
    1. JJ ( really compare a trade vs extension)
    2. JA ( how good is he??)
    3. Do the Vikings have enough high level play at Safety??? Are metellus and Bynum really good enough?? Or are they just avg to above avg???
    4. Is Chandler a long term solution??
    5. Should the Vikings draft a TE to replace Hockenson ?? Can TJ hold up.
    6. Is KOC really good at developing QBs?? If so, why did Dobbs regress from an explosive 6 quarters to unplayable just 13 quarters later???
Certainly there’s an, on the fly aspect to this. KOC is supposed to recognize what will be successful with Dobbs short term. And he failed. Miserably.
    7. What can the Vikings do to keep Flores long term???
    8. You could each do a mock draft and then have the fans vote on which draft they like the best.
But you have to move on from this QB discussion. Everyone has contradicted themselves 10000 times by now. Nobody knows anything. And the conversation has just gotten pointless.
I know you talk about it bc you think that’s what fans want to listen too…
Check the comments. The fans are spent. Especially Viking fans.
They got overloaded with the trade up to #23 and it’s like they’ve basically been up waiting, without sleep, ever since.
    Change the discussion.
    Be original.
Be authentic. ( aimed at Judd)
Take risks. ( aimed at JUDD)
Own mistakes ( aimed at Judd)
Be vulnerable. ( aimed at Judd)
    Take it from me.
Your fans are telling you they are drained of the conversation.

Lots of Penix fans coming out of hiding. I’d be upset if the Vikings pick him at 11. 23 is an okay risk I guess but would rather trade back to 30-32 for him. Hoping they draft McCarthy but would be happy with Daniels and pessimistically optimistic with Maye or Penix. Nix would be meh.

JJ has probably told them who he want to be the QB or he’s gone. My guess is he wants Penix or JD - With JD not likely, it’s likely going to be Penix.
Personally, I see Penix being the cool bro that’s really good to mesh with the team. I see McCarthy as the precious coaches boy.
Penix in many ways is just the dog that this team will get behind. We need him here in Minnesota and JJ in my eyes is no where close to the skill of Penix

I'm interested in Jaren Hall starting week 6 with this amped up offense and defense adding all are draft picks. This is going to be awesome if it happens. Don't waste any of the pics on a quarterback you're not going to get who you want. Start Hall he's a baller. Hear me out even if we do get a quarterback in the draft eventually the Vikings are going to see it in Hall will be our future quarterback.

So Mackey says, out of the six QB rated to go in the first round. It’s likely 4 will be good or serviceable in the NFL. I’m sorry but years of expressing a top ten QB (Kirk) isn’t going to win a SUPERBOWL. To now not draft and develop our Mahomes is so disingenuous. I realize Kirk wasn’t a serviceable option. But Mackey’s now expressing the soft bigotry of lower expectations is ripe lol.
