THAT is Bullsh*t. The APU is 6 years old and never was meant to compete against gaming machines. It was a really nice solution for HTPC or office PCs back then, outperforming the Intel/HDGraphics combination with its Bulldozer(?) cores and Integrated Radeon by a whole lot.

This board was my old computer a loog time ago. It was really reliable, I took it to friends places alll the time each weekend. It was not amazing, but with a "ok" graphics card it was fun to play a couple of older titles, and as an emulation machine it was fire. I kinda love that old thing.

I think since he was using a stock heatsink, and fan it came with preapplied thermal paste which in this case was good enough, but I could be wrong.

The cheapest motherboard on the platform you want should be good enough if you're not overclocking.
Unless you're going for looks or something.
Nope, just look out for the CPU support and features (overclocking, M.2, etc.) you need, but among boards that supply those buying the cheapest is generally not a problem. Although Linus didn't test it, but I'd bet this -POS- board performs identically when compared to anything else with FM1 and this CPU.
I honestly wasn't able to tell much of a different between L Unit and normal Linus...

There is nothing wrong with cheap motherboards, if they work for you. All they need to do is support your graphics card, processor, ram, and psu needs. If it works, it works, you can add usb hubs, you can ad 3rd part audio gear, you can add even core mother board cards too like NIC's, I run an MSI 990 FX mobo for an 8350 and 390x, its old, its not the newest pc, but it edits 4K like a champ, it plays games at 60 FPS, and I have everything I need.

People should avoid building systems with cheap mobos like this one... people need to educate themselves and avoid buy pre-built systems.
i have an old cheap motherboard which last had a bios update in 2012. running an 3770 + gtx1080 perfectly fine. although i did have to get a seperate soundcard as the audio especially at high volumes was lacking.
edit: i tested performance at 4k ultra in bf4 on various single player missions and it happily stayed around 70-90 fps

I'm using a £40 motherboard and it's perfectly fine, I've overclocked my 4690k to 4.9ghz and have a slightly overclocked Rx 480 and it's running perfectly fine, so cheap motherboards are awesome

it's 2018 and I still use a6-5400k and an A55 board by gigabyte with 4gb of ram with a 768p monitor and a 500 watt psu with mustard and ketchup cable.
Can I still play some next Gen games,, or my mother board drags down the performance of the over all built. With this setup I need help.

I have one of those, i play bf3 and bf4 at 60 fps. Idk why he ridiculizes so much this hardware as it is not meant to play triple AAA games or to run with a fucking 1080ti. It is a mobo for basic things or light gaming..... simple as that and it is pretty cheap.

Although I find Linus's insistence on reviewing absurd products somewhat disappointing, I certainly would appreciate it if he would review some reasonably cheap products since the highest volume motherboards/GPUs/etc. at the low end are rarely reviewed by big-name tech journalists.
Would you even trust their reviews though? Luke is likely the only guy in the whole studio who sorta kinda understands computers besides Linus, and even he doesn't quite have the methodical meticulousness to pull off a good benchmark or to notice some significant pitfalls, and he's better at it than Linus. The rest of them can't even assemble a computer from a bag of parts. I think it's a lost cause. Take it for what it is, computer-centric entertainment.

You're right on. These products are a joke and a waste of time. They focus on the extreme ends of the scale which both represent a poor value, which only tells us not to buy extremely cheap or expensive products. It would be preferable if they compared mid-range hardware that 90% of their viewers are going to buy.

My general advice for buying motherboards: find out what motherboard chipset you want, what socket you want, what I/O you want, and what form factor you want, then get the cheapest one that fits those parameters. Aesthetics is really the only reason to vary from this formula because all that matters in a motherboard is the chipset and the list of things you can connect to it.

+Carl Kun Watch the video again, if you still can't understand whether or not this is a good motherboard, just buy a PS4 Pro or Xbox1X. PC building can get complicated, but this video should be *very easy* to understand.
Seriously, even a regular PS4 would be better than this motherboard, this is *not* suitable for gaming. Although I wouldn't recommend a regular PS4, Xbox1, or Xbox1S. As someone with a PC from 2005, I am very disappointed with the regular PS4, I refuse to play any multiplatform games on it, even my 2005 PC can watch 4k videos, regular PS4 can't even do that. The PS4 Pro and Xbox1X are what the 8th gen should have been to begin with, almost all new TV's are 4k, and you will want to take full advantage of that.
If you want a suitable office PC where you won't buy a GPU or be playing any games, this motherboard will work as it is only suitable for typing word documents and internet browsing! And it will work with all your outdated used parts from 1998! Want to dig out your parents first keyboard? It will work here!
