If you got one of these from September 2022 and onward you need to hold F and 4 during power up to unlock the expanded frequencies. F+1 and F+7 will enable VFO but will not expand the freq.
Have you checked the VSWR on the antenna? It appears the the one it comes with is for 70cms , other whips are available for 2 mtrs or both bands, but might need a female/male SMA gender changer to fit the RT-85
Typically I do. If it's not in one of the videos though, I cannot help, unfortunately. This radio was given away during a livestream. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance
It is. I have a new one arriving soon and will be seeing if uv88 firmware loads onto the radio. I think it will. Also, I understand this radio is now supported by chirp
That is a good question. I don't know the answer. Initially I would say the cables seem similar, but I did not test. I have another RT85 on the way and will test it out and get back with you
I wasn't sure so I went to google and typed in RT85 Reset. This was the information I got: 6)RESET Mode Press [ ] +[3] [5] key to enter Reset mode, then press [ ] key to enter.[ ] or [ ] key to select ALL/VFO/FULL 1.ALL:initialize all setting. 2.VFO:initialize all setting under frequency mode. 3.FULL:initialize all setting under frequency and channel mode.
I don't know what to tell you. I saw you posted on multiple videos. It's a ham radio. Can it be modified, maybe? It's been a while since I used this radio and I no longer own it. Maybe contact Retevis. It aooears they posted some kind of mod. Good luck
@@joeyybiernas8294 You can try other option. It starts the same with turning the radio on with F and 1 buttons pressed, but then go to Menu->Reset->All. It should give you full available range 136-174, 400-480 MHz. Be advised it's a full reset so it will erase your programmed settings.

Thanks
Two pok on the Amazons for $25 right now is a great deal even with the much less common SMA female on the radio.
Cheers and thanks, I just bought the two pack as to make a video to show if these are the same (nearly the same) radio as the Rapid Radios.
