- Paolo Garbisi held his nerve to kick a game-winning conversion in the final minute to seal a deserved victory for Italy against Wales in Cardiff.
It had looked as if Wales had secured victory thanks to second-half tries from Dewi Lake and Josh Adams only for Edoardo Padovani to crash over with one minute on the clock after stunning work from Ange Capuozzo on his first start.
The result marks Italy’s first ever win away to Wales and their first Guinness Six Nations victory since 2015.

Damn it, I still can't look at this without shedding tears at Garbisi's emotion. Boy, has the Italian national rugby team gone through a long walk in the desert. What a weight finally lifted. And what a beautiful display of sportmanship from rugby fans from Wales and from all over the World. Sport at its best.

I'm one of the majority of Italian's that don' follow rugby very much. But just watching the highlights of this game triggered an unexpexted enthusiam which will surely encourage me to start getting into this great game. We need the Italian passion and flare in the 6 Nations, they brought the x factor that teams like Scotland, Wales and England were lacking this year.

You know what? Now there is the generation who was born with italy in the six nations. I have waited many years for this moment. The last two years due the missing of an absolute fuoriclasse as Parisse was a real pain but i ve always waited for this moment. Is not matter of one victory or 7 years of defeatings. I started to follow rugby since our very first time in six nations ( more or less in 2000, if I well remember, it was always against welsh, and we won ). I start to follow rugby because national newspaper start to talk about it, and I felt in love with this marvelous, marvelous sport taht before i totally ignored... So what i'm tryng to say is that, now after 20 years of six nations, of course we aren't on the same level, and maybe we won't ever be, but the movement has improved. Maybe not next year but I feel the time is coming for us, personally, to this life, I just asking to defeat England, just one time, just to jerk off on the Sun's first page...

He was born in France, he grew up in Grenoble, trained there, just due our stupid laws and maybe the fact that he did not find space in your great team that he plays with us. This was a great result. I'm a Welshman and I've been severely disappointed in Wales' performance this campaign. They needed a big loss and I'm so happy that italy won a match. They truly deserved it. Hopefully this was the wake-up call they needed.
@@DrPandachaun Italy played with so much guts and determination that I found myself hoping they'd win it towards the end of the match too. They've performed well in other games in this years 6 Nations but haven't been able to pull off the win until now.

this brought a tear to my eye, everyone has been shitting on Italian rugby for so long and its been unjustified, have they lacked full 80 min performances for a long time? yes. not anymore though, this team is leaps and bounds beyond what they have been before. immense intensity in defence and attack, big forward performance every game, and it really looks like they are starting to believe in their skills and abilities enough to be ambitious and take opportunists when they come. ITALIA LETS GOOOOO!
by my opinion we won the game when they did not try around the 71 min... in many other situations we were out of fuel and the others passes because they were stronger. When the ref did not allowed the welsh try at 73, that moment for me is the real key...
Capuozzo is such a talented young guy. I feel like he takes his play very much from the Hogg playbook, except he's younger and fitter so he does it better these days

With such a superb game, a great overall behaviour during the tournament, an excellent performance from the -20 Italians (with three victories in a row)... Italy's rugby may well have a bright(er) future.
Ange Capuozzo is about to leave FC Grenoble heading to the Stade toulousain, Paolo Garbisi delivers with Montpellier HRC from day one of the current season, and several other players getting experience and excellence in the Top 14 too... all this sounds great for the "Fratelli d'Italia".
I can't wait to see them perform steadily for the next editions !

As a Welshman, the days of Bowring have returned and it’s all down to the piss poor appointment of Pivac and all his coaching side. If they binned them all now, we stand a chance of getting out of the group stage at the 2023 WC.

I guess you’ve all got some Celtic influence. Even we colonial settlers will have Celtic influence in some regard, my ancestors were Irish. It’s all good mind, I guess humanity wins. I just want to see good rugby being played. I worry about wales and England though, as both those countries have a proud heritage and it only seems like a couple of years back when wales were playing really good rugby. I worry that England’s woes fall largely on the shoulders of Eddie Jones as he can’t seem to decide who his best team is….
