DSiWare version. This 'port' was made from scratch, featuring a different voice acting for Jim and slightly updated graphics, though without 'Big Bruty' and the secret 'Who Turned Out the Lights?' level.
The selfie mini-game that's exclusive to this version is not shown since the camera function isn't emulated on Bizhawk's melonDS core. What it gives as a reward is some extra ammo according to various sources.

Didn't even know this was on the DS. Strange. It's like they took the original game and sped the animations up.
That might explain why its so short.
When you have all the assets for a retro game, but forget how they're supposed to be arranged, how there's a rhythm to them, and to use them all.
except for the original vocal files which added so much. this is a trainwreck.
The games looks fine to me.
well yeah, while it might LOOK alright, when compared to the MegaDrive and Super NES versions you can see where this port is lacking big time.@@cnk9822
Bought this for my DSi from DSiWare shop. It’s one of the few DSiWare games that’s not transferable to 3DS and locked to the DSi. I still have it and fire it up once in a while, good game
This version includes Intestinal Distress, notably cut from the SNES version!
I believe it was actually made as an exclusive level for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version, not as a level which was to be on all versions of the game but then removed on some platforms due to hardware limitations.
The SNES was powerful enough for this level to be included, but it was left out due to Nintendo's strict censorship policy at the time,,which forbid controversial content. Intestinal Distress was deemed a little too extreme in nature so it was simply cut. This same policy that gave us a bloodless Mortal Kombat and no religious symbols in Super Castlevania IV. After the universal rating system was adopted, Nintendo changed it's policy, which is why we can now see this level on a Nintendo system.
An official cartridge port of this by limited run games would be sick
That second screen really helps.
Nice that they used spritework straight from the original game (probably from all of its versions). Too bad some of the frames are missing.
6:50 Man, there's even an image from EWJ2
Probably the most obscure and underrated version of Earthworm Jim I would love to have this on my DS (too bad DSIWare is gone RIP) not to mention it's Eartthworm Jim HD but it has the Genesis New Junk City and it sounds great (sigh) much better.
Earthworm Jim is so cool and badass!😎💪✊👊
Nice gameplay and speed.
Cool remake
Ports! Ports everywhere!
Dat bass in New Junk City is slappin'!
Holy Cows from EWJ2!
Way better than that notorious GBA port.
With the exception of the Game Boy version from Eurocom And the Genesis version on NSO this is the definitive way of playing Earthworm Jim on a handheld console
@@angryjadengamerreviews2827 Yeah but there's PC handhelds that can play the Windows versions or any other console version

@@alelauguz Oh yeah forgot about that at the time I wrote that
Great memories
😮never knew this was ported to the DS a lot bit better graphics than the SNES and Genesis better sound too is maybe I'll play it on drastic (lol of course with cheats 😏)
Same..
this version lags in some areas, and the animations are downscaled and are missing frames, definitely wouldn't call it better. It's pretty solid on it's own however and not a back way to play
I Like that Queen Slug-for-a-Butt Screams!
and instead of summoning flies she shoot yellow energy laser beams from her scepter
Doc Duodenum's backstory is actually pretty horrifying if you think about it.
You have this unknown individual somewhere out in the universe going about their life completely unaware that one of their internal organs is tired of life thereas, so it just leaves the body somehow, with no word as to whether this poor sap survived.
And then a mutated earthworm packing a blaster obliterates it.
Ótima versão. Pena não terem feito isso com as versoes do gba.

Boss 2 Ghost
Boss 3 Nerd
Boss 4 Bully
Boss 5 Minions
Boss 6 Officer
Final Boss Nerd
A conversion of the Mega CD version would have been better.
My god, Jim sounds like he is from Southeastern Kentucky… More specifically, Harlan County…
DSi ware games can be emulated properly now?cool i mean, groovie. Now i can try out hero of sparta
Framerate seems to have increased in this version. Will we ever see Earthworm Jim 4 that was supposed to be in development for Intellivision Amico ?
I wonder about that myself. While it would be cool to see Jim be on many platforms would Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft be willing to offer that deal to Jim's creator?
Esa consola no saldrá nunca al mercado.
No we are definitely not seeing earthworm jim 4 release. They ran a scam, lied about features and even got sued for how close amico is with amiga.
@@SpeedsterBlur The Amico situation is a mess but the Amiga legal action over a "similar" name is spurious and normally wouldn't get very far. As for EJ 4 I think it was only a proof of concept/taster trailer and nothing else unfortunately. Rumour had it they wanted to get the "band" back together. Maybe the attention will see something pop up somewhere else later
Btw, doesn't Who Turned out The Lights exist in this version either?
Very very underrated version
The animation is still pretty smoth not that much but still looks better than those awfull gba ports
It’s also on 3DS.
Was.
@@kingmonster Yeah 😔
Has anyone managed to run the DS port of this game on emulators? I've failed so far.
Must mod 3Ds to have this game
for those wondering, you get 5 plasma shots for completing the selfie mini-game
Where i can download it?
WTF!!! Earthworm Jim is Nintendo DS? 🤯
Slow loading sequences between consecutive Snot a Problem levels are depressing. And the crude bottom-screen tutorial text for that battle seems to apologize for the stage's mechanics.
Now if someone could upload video of the lose-life animation and game over screen of this version
Someone already lost a life
@@alelauguz Link?
Looks like a mobile Java game
Why does it sound so god aweful?
still on N jim is broken)
On NSO?
I'm not sure if this a legit ROM or not it's cheaper and more convenient just to use emulators

Это тупо порт с мобильного телефона java на ДС, от тех же Gameloft
Java game? 💀

I recently got to play this on a cousin's DS and honestly, its horrible, Jim moves too fast and it feels like crap to play, I wouldn't recomend you to play this at all, just play the snes, genesis, or even the special edition version if you can, if you decide to play this, have in mind that its going to be a horrible experience.
Abomination
Terrible version of the game
I feel sorry for the player. They have incredible endurance.
