As a 9 year old, this was undisputedly my favourite kids show. Stu Francis was great on this. Would have been great fronting a Saturday morning programme instead of Mike Read when Swap Shop finished.
I don't think Stu was the problem with Crackerjack, trouble was that he wrote his own jokes as opposed to having a team do it and it got a bit samey. He was great on live TV and loved doing kids TV
@@michaelwalton9528 I know what she means but the way it was worded was totally wrong. I'd like to turn back time and be 7 again when this was broadcast, my hubby was only a baby that year. My eyes were only for Stu Francis😘😘😘😘
I was in the audience aged 12 right at the beginning Stu stood on my toe as he was walking along and looked back at me, I net everyone at the end talk talk and toyah etc as my uncle was the producer director happy day I went 4 times in all.
Its funny now watching some of the other 1982 episodes, as on the first few, Stu and the Celebrities put on the plastic macs and hats that were on the take a chance chairs, to protect themselves. After a while, they just stopped wearing em.
itsjemmabond sorry Ms Jemmabond this was def the pre Krank era, although I think the big chap in the high cut silk shorts @ 36 minutes was def. ‘taking a chance’ long before wee Jimmy slipped out on to the scene!
@@langdale55 Hate to break it to you, but the reason I remember when The Krankies were on the show during the Stu Francis era is because I used to have a crush on Jimmy (Don't ask). The format was a tad different then; there was a comedy sketch featuring the duo towards the end, and some of the games such as In The Box weren't featured at the time (You could tell they were trying to copy Tiswas). I also remember the theme tune used at the time - similar to the one here, but sung by the cast, and if I remember correctly, The Krankies and Stu got pied/squirted in the opening credits. I did some research and discovered The Krankies were only on the show for two series (1980-1982), after which Downtown Julie Brown joined as a hostess - I clearly remember my mother saying "That's the girl who won the disco dancing contest!" when she appeared on screen. Keep in mind this episode is from 1982, and it's possible a new series started after the last one with The Krankies. More hostesses came and left, new games were formed, Chas and Dave re-recorded the theme tune, but the The Krankies never returned; instead they had their own Saturday show on ITV called The Krankie Klub. Again, I remember this because I wrote a report on them as part of my schoolwork and coloured a photo of Jimmy, but my classmates informed me his school uniform was actually red as opposed to the green I imagined he wore, but cut me some slack, we owned a B/W TV...
itsjemmabond thanks for claifying Its. Just one question: is Jemmabond really your surname? I went to school with a chap called Thats Jemmabond. He wouldn’t be your brother by any chance? That would be fannydabbydooty!!
Watching that first question in take a chance, doesn't/didn't it seem a little unfair on the MSG question? I feel that could be open ended since they were/are still known for boxing, wrestling and basketball over the years.
Thanks for putting this up. I'm in the audience and never thought I'd get to see myself 😀
No worries!
wow Talk Talk were on it ! used to have a major crush on Sally Ann Triplett

I agree with you, but then it was the BBC. ITV had livelier Saturday morning presenters.
Time sure does fly.👍

Oh my! It's Downtown Julie Brown!!!
Talk Talk, as endorsed by Orville the duck. Brilliant. Thanks for uploading this, I'd never seen this performance of theirs before.
Retro Adidas tracksuit never go out of style
Remember this from when I was 8 Years old. Great show.
i was 17, loved toyah and the CJ show, watched it since very early 70s

This was the series that the 'Take A Chance' gunge tanks were introduced.
If Stu pulled that stunt where he climbs a ladder to shake the tall guy's hand today, Twitter would go mad...
Love the fact Toyah is in this.....not as Crackerjack as Dollar!
Wonder if she ever thought in 40 years time she'd be shaking her thruppenny bits every Sunday during a pandemic
Thanks for this.
Aww I was 12 in 82 remember this show well 😊
When I watched this as a kid I never saw the two girls as fanciable. Until now.
I fancied Stu Francis and I was only 6 when this was transmitted 😂
Downtown Julie Brown!
itsjemmabond I always knew I recognised her from something, didn’t realise it was this!

Me and dave was 14 in 1982 .
Sadly not. It's taken me over 30 years to get this one, as I feature in the audience
This is actually a 1982 edition of Crackerjack.
This was pre-Krankie. We Jimmy took the show to a different level!
Post, actually.

Do you have more of these videos please?
tekmin No that was Double Dare. This is the last version of Crackerjack, hosted all the way through to its in end in 1984 by Stu Francis.
how shit were the 1980's? Met Stu Francis on my 18th birthday in 1989, he was still peddling crush a grape gags, nice guy, shit jokes

In the middle. Right front of Stu Francis at the start. Blonde hair, NHS specs and a hideous shirt, tie and tank top combination lol

Was Peter Simon on this?Am sure he was.
No, he presented Double Dare and Run the Risk.
Poor Keith Harris. Largely illiterate.
I remember this era of Crackerjack being awful to my 11-year-old eyes at the time. Seeing it again now, I wasn't wrong.
I much prefer the original Eamon Andrews version back in the 1960s. Seems wrong to have an out and out comedian as host.
