This was the most serious I've ever seen her, and the most anxious. Her videos were usually tongue and cheek, where she comes across as very confident. It takes a lot of courage to do what she does, and remain inside Russia. Extraordinary woman, I wish her and her partner well.

Despite how good she is, she is not as big as many other Russian vlogger. This is an opportunity for her, and it is understandable that she is nervous. Secondly, when she is making videos, she can edit out parts and redo them if it is not up to her standards.

Soon after the pact, Germany invaded Poland on 1 September 1939. Soviet leader Joseph Stalin ordered the Soviet invasion of Poland on 17 September, one day after a Soviet-Japanese ceasefire came into effect after the Battles of Khalkhin Gol[9] and one day after the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union had approved the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.[10] After the invasions, the new border between the two countries was confirmed by the supplementary protocol of the German-Soviet Frontier Treaty. In March 1940, parts of the Karelia and Salla regions, in Finland, were annexed by the Soviet Union after the Winter War. That was followed by the Soviet annexation of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and parts of Romania (Bessarabia, Northern Bukovina and the Hertsa region). Concern for ethnic Ukrainians and Belarusians had been used as pretexts for the Soviets' invasion of Poland. Stalin's invasion of Bukovina in 1940 violated the pact since it went beyond the Soviet sphere of influence that had been agreed with the Axis.[11]

But didn’t the west create “the Ukraine”? Wasn’t it part of Russias empire? It’s fine whatever if they’re separate today but I do struggle with the rationality of forcing Ukraine to remain together. When Yugoslavia tried to break up the U.S. said hold my beer and we’ll break ya all up. Today part of Ukraine wants to break up and the U.S. is like hmm this time we’ll force ya to stay together. If part of Ukraine are ethnic Russians and if 15000 has been murdered by Ukraine the past decade like let Donbas break off. The U.S. is 33 trillion in debt with 150 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Today the U.S. is paying part of Ukraine’s pensions but can’t even fund Americas own pensions? It’s crazy. The U.S. is going to have to hope inflation wipes away debt or force a ww3. Personally I’d rather let Donbas go tk Russia and end the war then potentially going to ww3 or making our debt situation far far worse. We’re like at 115% debt tk gdp with Europe and China basically looking weak with the U.S. trying to hold out.

One thing ya forgot was how France took Germans coal fields which led to hyperinflation basically as they printed money to buy energy and did they have to pay war retributions in gold? I can’t remember. Like some argue it was the west that essentially was so hard that they created ww2.

Thank you for giving Anastasia a voice outside of her RUclips channel. She's a bright young woman. I feel it's important that we don't blanket cancel all of Russia. Putin & the Kremlin yes, but someday this war will end & we'll have to look anew at Russia and our relations. It's people like Anastasia who are hopefully going to help forge Russia's future. If for other reason than age, days are quickly running out for the old grey men. Giving young rationale intelligent Russians like Anastasia and others like her ( Zack the Russian) a wider reaching voice can only be positive.
PS, Agent Nesty is not just intelligent. She also has a wicked sense of humour.

Yes is important to understand that not everyone in Russia is imperialistic and hateful but it's equally important to understand that it's the majority who are. Russia propaganda has been active for a decade and a half and has successfully steered the public to support Putin's policy. If Putin or someone like him remains in power, there will be international security issues in place for a long time to come. Putin realizes he's lost the youngest generation but he is already thinking long term by introducing patriotic training into schools to make sure that doesn't happen with the next generation.

The West is sly. They act in a passive-aggressive manner and turn their media machine loose until they provoke a response. Russia was told that NATO wouldn't expand. NATO expanded. NATO expanded again. Russia was still weak from the collapse of the Soviet Union and from the horrible exploitation of the 1990's. Putin pulled Russia out of the proverbial abyss. The West threatened additional NATO expansion into Ukriane and Georgia. The West supported the 2014 coup in Kiev and the subsequent deposing of the elected Yanukovych. The Minsk Agreements weren't abided by. Russia finally had to act in its interests instead of being poked additionally. I'm American. Putin has a reputation of being somewhat autocratic at times, but I believe that he does so because he's the one who pulled Russia out of the abyss, that he understands that the West desperately wishes to inflict the same ills ruining the West upon Russia, and really desires to break the Russian Federation up and to steal the natural and human resources. Putin won't permit for it to occur.

Disagree, Russians only do anything if it affects them directly. In 2011 there were massive 100k+ protests that last multiple days associated with election. There were also labor strikes and other less public but more effective protests. Withthe ave of social media organizing large labor strike would be easy. But when Russia invaded Georigia, Chechnya, Ukraine and then starts 2014 Ukraine conflict.... Nothing. Additionally Russians pay taxes to putin, and what does that fund? So just bc they might disagree with the invasion they enable it

But for you to tell others - especially if they are not only politically oppositional but also homosexual -to risk imprisonment, financial destruction or casual violence- that they will regret leaving is shameful. If you would agree to substitute your hide to substitute for any persecution they might suffer, I might agree with you. But I suspect you won’t.

The most beautiful thing about the west is that their citizens can openly speak against their own government and politicians, while being on their own soil.
Sure some passerby may heckle you ( if he's from the other side of the divide) but no cops or government agents will come knocking at your door.
This is the single biggest thing I like about the west. Because, let's face it, most politicians are rotten. Whether western or Russian or Chinese. And if you are not allowed to call a rotten guy a rotten guy, it boils you from inside. So I would like to live in a country where you can call its politicians names.

I would love you to interview "Anna From Ukraine". She puts out daily videos about the war and life in her country from the perspective of the average person. One of the most important RUclipsrs of today, and she needs more subscribers. She is absolutely brilliant.

    "The planes"
Russia has essentially seized commercial aircraft belonging to Western leasing companies that were previously operated by Russian airlines. What this means is they cannot obtain new parts for Boeing or Airbus aircraft and the maintenance schedule required in western countries can no longer be verified.
This means that these aircraft are being operated without regular parts inspections and replacement and their Western insurance has been cancelled. They are all well built and no doubt Russia has skilled ground crews but there is a fear that one day one of these planes will go down with due to a mechanical failure that would have been prevented with proper inspections and verified new parts. These aircraft are now effectively worthless because their maintenance records have been broken. There are stories of some aircraft being cannibalized to keep others airborne. Anastasia is right to be concerned about flying there.
    Outside voices.
After coming to power in 1933, the Nazis moved swiftly to pass laws making it illegal to listen to foreign radio stations. Meanwhile they took total control of the film industry and newspapers. The German people were fed propaganda and lies. The truth came back with the dead from far flung places but because it could be spoken publicly went underground. Something very similar is happening in Russia where only folks who are internet savvy enough (usually young people) can find alternative news sources and get a sense of the truth. Everyone else get the official government version. This is just one of the striking parallels between Putin's and Hitler's regimes.
    Russia is bad.
Ever since I was a kid in the 60s we were told that Russia was 'bad'. Worse than bad, they were communist.
It was hard when you were young to envision Russian people as ordinary folks just trying to get by, pretty much like us.
After the fall of the USSR in 1991, I recall there was real hope that Gorbachev might be able to reform the Russian government and economy and join us in mutual prosperity in the West. All of a sudden vast sums spent on the Cold War could be put into education or health care or social programs. People even started asking why we needed NATO anymore, since the threat facing Western Europe was gone. Sadly Gorbachev failed to pull off his economic and political reforms and I understand that for some years Russians were even worse off than they were during the USSR. After Yeltsin basically gave away public assets to the Oligarchs and changed the Constitution so all power rested with the President (him) who could override the State Duma, Putin took over and gradually life seemed to improve for ordinary people. Many to this day credit him personally for turning Russia around. Now with his invasion of Ukraine, his desire to restore the old empire of the USSR is clear for everyone to see and the 'evil Russians' narrative is back. There are decent people there like Anastasia there and others who have left. These young folks represent the best and the brightest of a nation with already in serious demographic decline. No country can afford to lose the cream of its youth like this.
    The Victims
Of course the principal victims of Putin's violent kleptocracy right now are the Ukrainians who have lost their homes, schools, hospitals, power stations and worst of all their loved ones, but I see ordinary Russian people as victims too. Some day the massive reconstruction of Ukrainian buildings and roads and bridges etc. will begin and someone is going to have to pay for it. This war was carried out in the name of the Russian people, whether they supported it or not and most likely they will end up being forced to pay for the damage. There will be a steep price for Russia to once again take its place among the other nations of the world.
I've followed Anastasia's channel for a little while now.
I doubt I would have had the sheer guts to speak my mind to the world when I was her age. When people condemn all Russians as a group because of the war their government started, we would do well to remember that there are people like her there too. I hope she continues to speak out and to stay safe.
