      Hi! I think you can play this song very well if you listen to this video at half speed and try to master it as slowly as possible and work your way up to the fast tempo. Like you, I get frustrated learning songs because I try to get it perfectly up to speed the first try with both hands. But I find that not caring about how the song is SUPPOSED to sound and instead just learning all the fingering in each hand before getting to higher speeds helps me. I learned this song in 2016 and its my favorite sonata by far! I think you should give it another shot :)

    This has always seemed like one of the most fun 'really hard' pieces to perform. Not like Liszt, where you're wondering if fingers can even move like that or Rachmoninoff where it seems rather splashy at times. Similar to Moonlight's 3rd movement or Flight of the Bumblebee, it seems like a hard song that you'll have a ton of fun learning to be honest.

      It's not that hard, late intermediate to early advanced at best, definitely easier than Liebestraum no 3 or Rach's Prelude in C# minor, especially if you don't push the tempo. It's far, far below harder Liszt or Rach pieces but the piece sounds super impressive, and is certainly a blast to learn.
      Basically, don't make it out to be as hard as you think it is and go take a crack at it.

    Beethoven is what I can, without any single doubt, call a genius. His compositions were only meant to be played by the most skillful musicians that ever lived. He, who was born almost 253 years ago, is still one of the rarest human beings of exceptional creative and intellectual power, setting new standards, levering very high bars to future generations to surpass. Imagine directing an orchestra you can't hear? Imagine creating musical chores for the piano and an entire orchestra? He was temped to take his own life when became completely deaf but destiny had other plans. He had conscious that he was extraordinary and his Art held him back in his suicidal thoughts. With his own words: “As the leaves of autumn wither and fall, so has my own life become barren: almost as I came, so I go hence. For, ah, it seemed unthinkable for me to leave the world forever before I had produced all that I felt called upon to produce.…” And he produced, produced, produced still and left a legacy of ingenuity & musical maestry. Thank you "Flaming Piano" for sharing your impeccable work with us.

      If it’s played too fast you don’t get to savor it as long :) I love this tempo. My son is playing this entire sonata for one of his high school diploma pieces. He plays it your speed . When he tries to go faster it can get a bit sloppy. As long as there is a big contrast between the grave sections and the fast sections it’s fine.

    A great piece and very well played with a good tempo chosen. Personally I'd ditch the repeat, although I accept it is requirement of sonata form.

    • @user-ug7xo1by2y
      @user-ug7xo1by2y 4 года назад

      The repeat is there, it's how it is supposed to be played

    • @Aaron-ou5mw
      @Aaron-ou5mw 4 года назад +4

      aiming forthesky Yes, the repeat is there, but the piece can get repetitive. Repeats were put in pieces back then to really drill in the themes and motifs of a piece. There were no recordings back then, so you would only hear a piece once and never again, or hear it a couple times if it was fairly popular.
      Performance wise, repeats are optional. Exposition repeats are usually fine unless the exposition is incredibly long. However, a repeat of the development+recapitulation, which is the majority of the piece, often now doesn’t get played too much because it is really tedious.
      You have to consider the background of a piece rather than just think that the sheet music is law.
      People use pedal in Bach, but is it in the sheet music? No, because harpsichords and clavichords did not have the pedal. Can it be used to enchanted a piece? Yes. Do people add crescendos and diminuendos in Bach? Yes, if it is appropriate. Could you add these dynamics when playing a harpsichord or clavichord? No.
      Baroque music is the clearest example since it’s the oldest era with really popular stuff (periods before this doesn’t have that much popular music, with a few exceptions, like the dies irae motif).
      The classical and romantic periods are more recent, but context is still important. Repeats don’t need to be played since the original purpose of the repeat is now kind of obsolete.
