Tbh they probably do have a pro shot hell since Sophia, but sometimes companies don’t release it. 🤷🏾 Usually they record full shows to pick spots for decent advertising, like an example would be Hamilton, all of the advertisement shots are the same ones in the actual Proshot version on Disney+.
if you ever get the chance I highly recommend it. I only got to see it as it was a late bday gift but I'm so so glad I got to see it in person at least once. And maybe check to see if there's a theatre near you that does lotteries for unsold tickets - the one at my theatre is really nice, $25 each for a max of 2 tix if you win.
What I think a lot of people don't realize is that Beetlejuice wasnt just trying to get Lydia to say his name, but was effectively using tactics to keep her from killing herself (people who commit suicide are kind of cursed into servitude, ie like himself)
Yeah, he was more just trying to distract her by trying to get her to say his name! He knew it wasn't that easy but just needed to keep her busy so she wouldn't jump

i really like the way this lydia sounds! she's in a comfortable range (from what i can tell) and there's not much strain to reach those higher notes, which is good! i also really adore the quick way she says "beetlejuice" as if she's desperately trying to quiet him to get the last word in, it's really effective for the scene!

I got to see this musical when it came to Denver and i’m not kidding i literally cried. this musical was one of my all time favorites besides Heathers, so getting to see it live was one of the best things I’ve ever witnessed. When someone goes “I think I’d rather just jump off!” Then someone else, a split second later yells “no!” The person yelling no, didn’t say no logically. They said it out of a genuine reaction to the situation at hand.

It’s why their friendship is so toxic-he cares about her, but he doesn’t know how to care in a healthy way, so he ends up being manipulative and possessive and lashing out when things don’t go his way. A huge part of his character is how desperately *lonely* he is. He and Lydia’s arcs about feeling invisible and alone purposefully parallel each other, so they have an instant connection not only because of their shared interests and compatible personalities, but because they’re both caught up in the feeling of being seen. It’s also why BJ reacted SO INTENSELY to Lydia betraying him. Yes, it ruined his plans-but it ALSO meant that his one and only friend abandoned him in the same way his parents abandoned him. BJ’s character is undercut with self-loathing and an intense hatred for his circumstances, so in part he doesn’t want anyone else to go through what he’s going through. That “soft” part is just hidden under his selfishness and cruelty. I think that’s why he gets to be an “antihero” by the end of the musical-he’s not an evil person inherently, but his tragic past and circumstances tamped down his goodness and nurtured his selfishness and meanness.

The musical is intended to be a mix between the movie and cartoon. In the cartoon the two were best friends. In the musical after day-o they did enjoy one another company, but they knew it wouldn't blast forever, and Lydia especially knew that BJ wasn't gonna be satisfied with being only half alive

I seen this at the Opera House in Detroit! They're awesome! Super loud though for anyone with sensory issues, also heavy epilepsy warning. Other than having a panic attack at end of intermission it was absolutely amazing! I even drew the Betelgeuse sign before the show!
