Totally in agreement when it comes to Seasons. After it was introduced as an expansion in Sims 2, there is no reason why it shouldn't have been included in the base games from that point onward. Zip. Nada. I would even be fine if it was just rain in the base game or something; anything to change things up a bit. But making me pay for something like that not once, not twice, but thrice?
    Heresy.

yes, even just wet/dry and cloudy/sunny is enough for a base game...

Ideally, if Sims 5 ever comes out, a bare bones weather system and calender are in the base game from launch. But knowing EA, they'd separate the weather, calender, and holidays into their own packs for Sims 5.

The only thing I could do with those four lots in Magnolia Promenade is a New Orleans style wedding destination (I did this way before the wedding pack). The big lot is the St. Louis Cathedral, then I made Cafe du Monde, Bachelor Bridal & Photography and then the last lot is a vacation rental. I love ts4 graphics with all my heart, which is probably why even though I love the gameplay from ts3 the most, I keep coming back to ts4. Though, almost all the packs for ts4 do suck and I wish I didn't spend so much of my money on this game.
Personally, just a few of the stuff packs, parenting, seasons and city living are all that I need to play the game. The awesome modding community is definitely what keeps this game running IMO

Expansions for the previous games are objective depending on the player. HOWEVER same for ts4 expansion packs. I like playing with get together and city living. I would put seasons higher because I actually play with holidays and like some of the clothes. Idk WHY they didn't put mount komerebi in seasons at least to make it better with the skiing/snowboarding and would love seeing all the trees turn pink for spring but whatever missed opportunity on ea.

My fav thing about the sims 3 is you can easily load only the packs u want. I know a lot of people don't like playing with the supernaturals all that much but I like them. The Sims 3 Supernaturals was one of the first packs that made me say I have to get this game (I still mostly play Sims 2 and I have not touched Sims 4). I haven't played enough of it to really say how great they all are but, having had a werewolf sim in both 2 & 3 I have to say I like Sims 2 better. And I can definitely do without sparkly vampires. And I feel that Sims 3 did nothing with zombies except make them annoying.
Sims 3 definitely did pets the best. I love that you actually have some control over them, I love that they put Horses in. :D I love their different personalities. That had to be the best pack! Add to that the fact that the first pet I owned in Sims 3 was a cat named "Evil Genius". How could I not love that cat?
Sims 3 University annoys me but I like Sims 2 Uni. It's long, yes, but I can live with that. In Sims 3 Uni I'm always trying to figure out how my sim is supposed to go to all these parties and stuff when all I ever seem to accomplish is getting him to study enough to pass, and eat. After that he's always too tired to do anything else.
Great list. I really like it!

'the nice parts of la' LOL. i'd disagree on any part of la being nice. i did not realize that sims 3 actually has more expansions than 4 bc my brain has started to mash game packs and expansion packs in ts4 together. the idea of rotational play sounds like a nightmare to me and my tiny, tiny adhd attention span so i haven't tried sims 2 university, so i quite enjoy ts3's university bc i love to minmax. however it is DEFINITELY a risk bc i prefer sending my sims' children instead of my first gen sims, and after playing at my glacial pace, there's always that chance that traveling just won't work at that point LOL. same reason i've been scared to try traveling to the world adventure towns. i do have nraas traveler but it still can be funky. overall, and esp compared to ts4, i am completely happy w the money i've spent on 3. the only two expansions i've never bought and don't ever care to are showtime and into the future. i use a little bit of everything every time i play, be it traits, skills, careers or towns, and it's kept me entertained for hundreds of hours across dozens and dozens of family's since i was like, 12. i had such a hard time really digging into 4 that i started to think i'd grown out of the sims, till i picked 3 up again and got immediately drawn into the save file i made for months!

I felt like I had grown out of the sims as well!
Except that was with the sims 3!
I just didn't like the art style at all, (style and lighting does a lot for me personally) the sims themselves looked like they were made out of some kind of clay?
And some things were a bit too realistic?
like mentioned in the video I don't want the sims to be like our world with our countries either, I like it being more vague and its own thing.😊
I think sims 3 was more "americanised" somehow and it wasn't my thing. (Although it still had great gameplay!)
I really thought the sims wasn't for me anymore, which felt sad. But I'm having a blast with sims 4 Although it can be quite problematic in several ways.
      EA cash grabs....

Because Sims 2 CAS isn't great anyway, it's way more fun to see how the genetics play out more so than making Sims. Also the premades are so good already. Had to watch this since I've been playing Ths Sims since 2001 with the Deluxe edition that included the base game and Living Large playing all the way up until about 2014 with every TS1 and TS2 pack and a chunk of TS3 packs. I've played a bit of Sims 4, but TS2 is my bread and butter with everything involved in it,
Watching through your ratings, some of them I can relate a LOT with. I do agree with you that FreeTime, in hindsight, is actually an AMAZING pack. With TS2, I find it really hard to pick between NightLife, Seasons, and Apartment Life with my favorite EP. For TS1, I'd probably rate Unleashed and Making Magic up there with Vacation.
Whenever I do a reinstall on TS3, I have to agree that Ambitions is the FIRST, sometimes ONLY, EP that I install with TS3. The only other pack I love and vividly remember with TS3 is Supernatural.
I also agree with a LOT of other simmers. With TS2 Seasons (which they planned for base game release, but had to work out bugs), WHY WERE THERE NO SEASONS IN BASE GAME TS3 AND TS4?????

I've only played the sims 3, but I have to mostly agree with you takes. For me it's probably
    Supernatural
    Ambitions
    Latenight
    Showtime
    World Adventure
    Island Paradise
    Seasons
    Pets
    Into the Future
    University
(and I don't own generations as I'm one of the plebs who only plays as young adults with aging turned off)
I feel Seasons and below are especially bad because I don't like them for what they actually add, but just the side content such as CAS/Build content and new interactions. With seasons, I just like the weather system and season system itself while actually finding the things such as festivals to be nuisances. Like I don't want to lose a day of work for a dumb festival when I'm speedrunning getting to the top of my career.

Sims 3 Seasons is beautiful to look at though. Also, I'm not sure if my mind is playing tricks on me but I also have the Diesel stuff pack and I think you get Diesel outerwear options if you have Seasons installed. I did not notice Diesel brand men's coats without seasons.

Out of all Sims 3 packs, Generations is the pack that I get the most frustrated with and consider deleting the most because there is so many freaking proms and then your lesbian teen that you have nearly managed to get together with her girlfriend, starts randomly making out with her male best friend and now all of a sudden she's labelled as a cheater. And don't get me started on the graduation ceremonies and ALL your sims get a day off and of course you're always just about to get that big promotion and just uggggghhhhhhh. Also imaginary friends are cool when you feel like playing with them, but the rest of the time they are annoying wastes of space.

for the most part i agree, but id put the occult packs a slot up, and ALL the sims 4 packs a slot down. item per item, you just don't get the same amount of value from sims 4 packs. there's less content and polish in the sims 4 overall. and the prices for the packs? as someone who does rigging modeling, and a bit of coding... yeah. EA needs to give QA more recourses, and get a few more people on the sims 4 team. you can tell they are running underpaid skeleton crews now, its glaringly obvious.

@@Rekowcski All you have to do when in Buildmode is using the cheats "testingcheatsenabled true" and "buydebug". You can build an Apartmentbuilding from scratch or use the shells like those in bridgeport. You can find the shells in the debug menue. I always use the filter to sort out all the other expansion packs but you can do that beforehand in the launcher I guess. Of course the shells belong to the late night expansion pack. Now you can bild all you want. Create the entrance, maybe something like a little gym for the people who live in the appartment, place elevators or stairs etc... When you finished (And this is important ALWAYS finish your building!) you go into the debug again. To make things easy use the filter again. You'll now need the basegame objects. Somewhere at the top you'll find some metal looking balls. These are markings for hidden floors, hidden rooms and community rooms. If you use them you can't change your building anymore that's why it's important to finish it before using the markings. When you use the hidden floor marking a complete floor will dissaper within the life mode. This is perfect for building skyscrapers. This way you'll see the entrance hall and when your sim uses the elevator they will step out at the highest floor (allegedly where you've build your apartments). The hidden room Marking is important for the Apartements of the NPC Sims. You don't have to furnish them considering the sims can't visit their neighbors directly. You just build an empty room and place the hidden room marking inside. When you now press Ctrl. and Shift and klick on the entrance door leading to your NPCs apartment you can choose "Create NPC Door". That way you can make sure this apartment will be inhabited by an NPC Sim. And last but not least we have t use the markings for the community rooms (or common rooms I actually don't know what theyre caled in the english version of the game, I'm not a native speaker lol). These markings belong in every hallway or every room you consider being used by all of the sims living and visiting your apartmentbuilding AND (VERY IMPORTANT) INSIDE of the elevator shaft. The Sims can not use the elevator unless you place this marking inside of every shaft in every single floor!
(If you want to use the apartment mailboxes and the garbage chute you can find these ones in the debug folder as well)
      I hope this was understandable

The Sims 2, I love it so much to the point I have to set some time limit playing it and school and later work in real life. Not going to lie the sims 2 is crazy fun and very addictive. The sims 3 it's fun but didn't play as long, it's like a healthy balance of play time especially seasons and with a mod just to run paradise Island smoothly. As for the sims 4 just play it casually, it's hard for me to get into it ,expect for Eco living the only expansion pack so far I like. Not sure about the Sims 5, hopefully they go back to thire glory days.

Generally I think expansion packs SHOULD be niche because if everyone needs all of them to enjoy the game, something is wrong. It's great that I can choose what I want my gameplay to look like. I really enjoy the options in Sims 3 because I can choose to have a game that is as realistic as possible with seasons, pets, jobs, etc. or I can go all out and have supernatural sims run around or visit the future. I probably would buy all the packs if I was rich because I'm curious, but generally I don't think my gameplay is missing anything without Showtime, Into the Future, Island Paradise or World Adventures. Only Ambitions and Generations would probably be nice to have on top of the ones I already own.

If they could get restaurants working in 4 like they did in Hot Date everything would be cool. Also the build/buy stuff was really nice. I can totally see why you gave it a "meh" rating, but believe me - this was the expansion pack where I really wondered what they could still do with the game.
The best one for 1 is still "Unleashed" though, for obvious reasons. Not only did it bring pets, (and I mean a lot of them) it also gave you a lot of new lots, allowed you to visit places in your local city, extremly good build/buy stuff.

I don't have Get to Work, but a video I watched suggested the retail part wasn't much of a step down from Open for Business, so I always figured thinking lowly of Get to Work would also mean thinking lowly of Open for Business. The retail system for get to work is probably the best part about the pack so if that’s your angle it might be worth it on sale. However it’s not the same as open for business (you can open lANY kind of business you like) and get to work is strictly a retail store.

I had actually watched that video before watching yours. I think all I had seen from videos I'd watched was the retail part, so I didn't originally know Open for Business allowed things like charging for venues. I guess Get to Work is just a sampling of what Ambitions and even Open for Business offer.
The video that I think suggested the retail portion in Get to Work was almost as good as in Open for Business was one of LGR's videos (it's mostly his videos that I saw the pack in action). He suggested that Get to Work allows the player to run a coffee shop from Get Together. I've been wondering if something like that can be done in Open for Business. Would I have to set a business as a restaurant instead of a retail in order to do that? If so, is it possible to change the type of business after it's been purchased (I already have a retail, but I couldn't see how to change the type of business)?
I've been wondering if what Open for Business and Ambitions have to offer pretty much render Get to Work and Dine Out unnecessary...
