South Africans are fed-up with the high crime rates in this country and they get more angry and retaliate when foreigners come to SA for criminal activities. 2) Don't come to SA illegally. Make sure as a foreigner that you have the correct documentation and that you followed the correct procedures to obtain your documents. 3) South Africa is constitutional democracy with the most progressive constitution in the world. It's important to respect the laws of the country and abide by it and you will be loved in this country.
4) Definitely refrain from calling locals "lazy"...It won't go down well. It is also disrespectful to insult people while you are a guest in their country

I think you should also add if people have no skills or have low level skills please stay in your country coz our unemployment rate is high as it is already. So when people come here with no family support system to fall back on and they can't find jobs they resort to crime and I will tell you for free we are tired and have no more patience for immigrants who come to commit crime in our country coz we realised our children will have no home to enjoy at this rate. Nice content. I think that’s why most foreigners find it hard to blend with SA. In SA, there are protocols for approval of everything, you can’t just take short cuts. In South Africa if you embrace the locals, add value to their lives and never do any crime they will love you as their own. We also observe the same principles when we relocate and find ourselves amongst different tribes, if you don't act right you will suffer the wrath even if it's your country. In order to embrace the locals you can learn one of the African languages and learn their mannerisms. Adding value: Have a skill that we need, pay your taxes, keep the money in the country. Since they are desperate when they enter the country and will work for any salary, they get manipulated by unscrupulous employers as they know that the undocumented will never report them to the authorities. This results in massive employment of the undocumented and very little opportunities for poor South Africans who happen to be black as well. I have seen complete areas employ only foreigners especially in Joburg. This creates massive resentment among poor South African as the poor foreigners become the face of the missed opportunities. Therefore, this Xenophobic problem is due to failure or non existence of government policies to ensure that this doesn't happen. Otherwise South Africans are completely welcoming of any foreign people that respects us whether black or white, African or not.

I fail to understand why so many people want to settle in a country they describe as xenophobic. In my opinion, what you and others refer to as xenophobia is actually South africans' way of resisting xenophobic tendencies when some of our foreign brothers and sisters abuse our hospitality. What is xenophobic about a people who are resisting distribution of narcotics in their country or people who are fedup with people coming into their country illegally? These are just a few examples of what our people fight against. You will also notice that us South Africans don't emigrate to look for greener pastures when we are not happy with any situation, we believe in rolling up our sleeves to face the problem head on to effect the outcomes we want to see. Thank you for the good content, however I implore you to look up the meaning of the word "xenophobia" and see if it fits to your description of South Africans. I fail to understand why so many people want to settle in a country they describe as xenophobic. In my opinion, what you and others refer to as xenophobia is actually South africans' way of resisting xenophobic tendencies when some of our foreign brothers and sisters abuse our hospitality. What is xenophobic about a people who are resisting distribution of narcotics in their country or people who are fedup with people coming into their country illegally? These are just a few examples of what our people fight against.
You will also notice that us South Africans don't emigrate to look for greener pastures when we are not happy with any situation, we believe in rolling up our sleeves to face the problem head on to effect the outcomes we want to see. There are cases where South Africans take the law into their own hands when they feel abused by those exploiting loopholes in our system regardless of their nationality and that cannot be called xenophobia. Whenever someone calls us xenophobic, we see it as indicative of that person insulting us and having overstayed their welcome.
