My skin care products are dry skin brushing, clean Vegan diet, steam and sauna baths, jojoba oil, and drinking nearly a gallon of water daily. NOTHING else needed, not even makeup!
SO glad I've found your channel. I'm super passionate about natural skincare and love the single ingredient concept. So refreshing to see someone on RUclips doing this!
Hey Blue Ollis, you mentioned in this video that you once suffered from hyperpigmentation and skin issues. Please share how you cured your skin off these problems
I've just watched every video of yours since your 'Monthly resolution challenge' in the last few days and am loving your content, cannot wait for more. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much, Ashleigh! Your support really means a lot to me. I'm so glad you're liking the content. Comments like this keep me going, inspired and motivated to create more!
Ahh thank you so much! I heard a lot of people recommending coconut oil to remove makeup, but it broke me out so bad and I don't usually get break outs or black heads from anything. I'll definitely give almond oil a try!
Simplicity is the best when it comes to skincare! Loved this video, it's great seeing what other people use, your skin seems pretty similar to mine too so I might implement some of the things you said to my routine and see how they go. :)
I completely agree. My skin is oily and sensitive. I love using oat-based masks and cleansers (homemade, of course) to reduce redness and improve tone. I'd start with that!
I have oily skin, too. I find that it cleanses without stripping the oils away completely so your skin is left balanced and doesn't produce excess oil anymore. The more you use it the less overly oily your skin will be! :)
Katie Burnopp I would love to try witch hazel, but I really can't find any that come in glass packaging where I am. The only ones I can find are on etsy, and I'm not sure if it would be better to just use the plastic bottles and recycle it or cause the emissions of shipping :/
Hi Sophie, thanks for the video. It's very interesting! May I ask where you get your rose oil? I have some pigmentation I want to try to see if it works for me. Thanks
Hi! I bought mine here: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002ATE0LE/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=sophschoices-21&camp=1634&creative=6738&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B002ATE0LE&linkId=48d6b2966e79a73cb83cb5836d6a9c07 I hope you find that it works as well for you as it did for me... I believe it to be the single best thing for hyperpigmentation and acne scarring!
I find that my usual moisturiser works great under the eyes - ruclips.net/video/CKngg5RDLDk/видео.html - If you want to add more moisture you can add some vitamin e drops to thicken it up.
Hey I'm from Germany and I just discovered your great channel! What is the oil called you can use for dry skin (it was the oil you mentioned before the tea tree oil)?
I al realy used few of this, the oatmeal is next to my list thanks for the idea! I need a zero wasted moisturizing lotion for my face and a sunblock, any ideas?
I don't use sunblock as I live in a cold climate (and I need all the vitamin D I can get!). Coconut oil and shea butter both have an SPF of 4-6. If you need something a little stronger you could use carrot seed oil which has an SPF of 35-40. These will all double as moisturisers and sunblock! I hope this helps.
What do you use for shaving? (Sorry if you've covered this) I had wanted to try a homemade coconut oil based product, but oil is no good for down the drain (especially in rural areas in single septics, like where my parents are) so I used some old aloe vera gel, and it seemed to work pretty well. In the future I'd get a plant rather than purchasing the plastic tubes.
hi Sophie, what do you use on your face as a day moisturiser? I'm using up what I have and then want something natural and preferably zero waste. TIA :)
I adore my facial oil DIY - ruclips.net/video/CKngg5RDLDk/видео.html - but if you're wanting to wear makeup on top you may want to use a cream in the day, too. I'm currently working on a recipe and will be sharing very soon!
How often do you apply the oatmeal cleanser? I've read that one should use it as a course, meaning, for instance, using it for ten days, then stopping for ten days and then using it again. But the duration of the course differs in different sources and i'm unsure, so it would be great, if you could answer me🙂 Btw, love your vids, keep going! P.S. Bear with my english, it's not my first language)
Sophie Ollis thank you for the reply) I've used oatmeal before and i am going to use it in the future. I have a lot of pimples as i am in my teens and it helps me to clear the pores and prevent more acne.
Sorry for digging, but i have some questions: 1. when i use an oil to remove my makeup, does it has to be in a glass container? or can i use plastic? (i mean' the oil is in a big glass bottle, can i fill a a little bit of the oil to a plastic container?) 2. Can i use neroli or geranium oil for acne marks ?
Aside from the environmental concerns, some plastic containers might dissolve slightly over time when they contain oil. That means that the petrochemical components of the plastic will leach into your oil, but also that the bottle might start leaking (especially at the side and bottom seams from the production process). Generally when an oil comes in a plastic bottle, you should be good to go, and you can keep it in there. For transferring into a smaller bottle, try to reuse a plastic bottle that already contained a similar oil, or use a smaller glass bottle. I have used plastic travel bottles (for toiletries) in the past, and these would always leak all over the place... Especially the soft plastic MUJI bottles, and similar :/ As for the neroli and geranium oils. Those are essential oils, and I wouldn't recommend using them directly on the skin without a carrier oil...
I live in a climate where I don't need to use sunscreen. But if I were I'd use coconut oil or shea butter (SPF 7) or carrot oil (SPF 40) for super hot climates.
I don't use coconut oil as a moisture on my face, only to remove make up, then I rinse it of and use a natural 3 ingredient olive soap to cleans my face. Is that fine or should I switch over to almond oil ?
If you fid that works for you then by all means stick with it. It's all about finding your own routine that your skin loves. I like to use almond oil because my skin is sensitive and prone to breakouts, but coconut oil works really well for some people.
Yes! Oatmeal is wonderful for clearing up acne. It's a natural anti-inflammatory so will reduce breakouts and redness. It's also anti-microbial so will kill acne-causing bacteria. AND it absorbs excess oils, preventing clogged pores. I would highly recommend if you're going through a breakout or have sensitive skin.
Sophie Ollis thanks! Do you happen to have a recipe for the body moisturiser or just apply coconut oil directly? Really hope to try it as I have pretty dry skin. Hopefully won't stain the bed sheets or make it smell :)
I use plain coconut oil. It'll definitely help your dry skin! If you want something thicker for super dry skin I'd recommend shea butter! Neither will stain or smell. The coconut oil sinks right into the skin after a few minutes.
Sophie Ollis thanks for your helpful tips! I have been using natural ingredients (ACV and green tea) for my toner as well and it has been amazing in tightening pores and keeping my face clean. You should definitely try if you haven't! Have a great day!
I haven't come across anything I'd recommend yet. I'll keep you updated if I do! There are plenty of natural DIY mascara recipes online, though, if you'd like to give it a go!
I once tried the oil cleaning method but it didn't work for me so I switched to Aleppo soap. And for toner I use acv and as care I use olive oil. For spot on treatment I use tea tree oil
How do you apply the oils? I tried applying a 50/50 mixture of jojoba and rosehipseed oil on my wet or dry face (3-5 drops) but my skin seems to get even more dry. Would be awesome if you or someone else could help me!
Sophie Ollis thank you! As far as I understand your blog post my base oil is the jojoba and the nourishing's the rosehip. I'll try adding some other ones as well. Do you apply the oil onto your dry face?
Yes, that's right. That'll be a really nourishing, moisturising mix :) I always apply after I've washed my face, dabbed with a towel and apply the oil while my skin is still moist. That way it locks in the moisture.
@@blueollis Hi. Read this and some other things. It gave me a thought if we can try it as a toner: thestream.sodastream.com/transform-your-beauty-routine Do you think it is useful? Using it as a toner? Thanks for immediate reply 😊
I believe I bought it from Amazon, but it was a little while ago now (it lasts years). Here're some: www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_11?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=pure+bentonite+clay&sprefix=pure+benton%2Caps%2C136&crid=2GF0DCPN7YNR7
You don't have to blend oils, it's just a good way to get different kinds of skin benefits into one bottle. You can use just a base oil on it's own.

you shouldn't use either tea tree oil or vitamin e without diluting them with something, they are very irritating for the skin even if you don't notice it
Good point - I add a few drops of tea tree to a dollop of aloe vera gel when my skin is breaking out :) I guess you could mix vitamin with rosehip or almond oil for moisture
Hi! So for the oatmeal cleanser after you blend it up, you mentioned you add water and make it into a paste. Do you add the water in the blender and store it as a paste in a jar? Or do you just store the oat flour dry and add water to a small amount when you cleanse? Thank you!
My skin care products are dry skin brushing, clean Vegan diet, steam and sauna baths, jojoba oil, and drinking nearly a gallon of water daily. NOTHING else needed, not even makeup!

I love argan oil for my skin which is really dry but also acne prone !!
Ahh thank you so much! I heard a lot of people recommending coconut oil to remove makeup, but it broke me out so bad and I don't usually get break outs or black heads from anything. I'll definitely give almond oil a try!
That can be the case as it's comedogenic so easily clogs pores. Definitely give another oil a try!

Sophie Ollis all right then I'll continue w/ that oatmeal.... thanks
I also think that witch hazel is a great toner! It's also an astringent so it is also good as a quick cleanser/toner duo.
YES! Witch Hazel is great.
It feels so cooly and some people hate the smell but I love it :)

hi, coconut oil is NONcomodeogenic, it has much too thin of a molecular structure which explains why its solid at room temperature
Coconut oil is high on the comedogenic scale which is why it can cause breakouts if applied to facial skin.
