Maybe of Islam faith. All dogs in Islam are seen as a danger and unsanitary and any contact with a dog is taboo and forbidden. It's just something they are taught from birth and seen as the same as eating pigs or drinking alcohol. Some people also have a lifelong fear of dogs after witnessing or having a bad experience being attacked when younger. Myself I couldn't live without my dogs and I'll go straight to any dog I read as friendly.
