Can literally see the day go by as we watch the video and the backdrop of the top right corner! I think you're right to call for caution with people getting hyped about prices, lot of correlation with wider macro trends
Yes Sospirited!! Glad you like my plants, my flat is like a jungle XD I've got a video coming on Monday too!! We've had a bit more info regarding reprints 👀 appreciate you as always !!
to the people that were there when Bandai mentioned reprints, it was literally said in passing when something else was being discussed....there was no major announcement or focus on it
The only sets getting reprints are op05, 06, and 07 coming after May. They already showed the schedule timeline of all sets to be released this year up to op09 coming in December.
@@mikegutierrez479 I more mean like cards that are reprinted in starter decks, like zoro and nami or tournament pack reprints. Not when they decide to reprint a whole set.
some crazy card shop by my house is selling early booster boxes of OP-06 for $350 each. Utterly insane these prices and the shit hasn't even come out yet
I mean, OP05 literally has been confirmed by Bandai at the GAMA Expo that reprints of OP05 (as well as OP06/07 they said too) would be getting another print run after May. As for the earlier sets, there's no specific confirmation on any of those ones yet though. But they DID announce they were going to be doing a new reprint set of the best cards of the first block of the card game (which includes sets 1 thru 4). It will supposedly release in Japan in July, which means it will PROBABLY release in English in October or November, but the English release hasn't been confirmed officially yet though. So at least as far as players are concerned, I do believe most of them would probably be less inclined to pay a premium for an older set if they were able to get the cards they're wanting in the upcoming reprint set. Also, I wanna say about the Sakazuki banning, I think people are taking it differently from when Whitebeard was banned for a couple reasons; 1) this is coming from Japan themselves and not just western Bandai, who've always had flimsier rules and idiosyncrasies with their banning policies that differ quite a bit from Japan. And also 2) they are printing a whole new Sakazuki leader as a promo card as a sort of "replacement" for him with a much more balanced ability. And because of that replacement Sakazuki they're taking time, effort, and printer space to create, I personally do feel like the chances of them unbanning the original Sakazuki is much lower than it was when the west decided to suddenly ban Whitebeard. At the very least, I can't imagine any sort of unbanning anytime SOON. I feel like if they did, it would completely defeat the purpose of printing a worse version of the same leader (same color combination and everything). But Bandai is pretty crap with communication and who knows, I could be completely wrong, and/or the west may end up doing something completely different than Japan. In fact, I'm more worried that they'll actually add MORE to the ban list than Japan as historically they have. But hopefully not 🤞
Very nice analysis Kamikaze as always! I agree, with pretty much everything I do think if they dont reprint the older sets like for like they probably will hold a premium still. But yes that new sakazuki is a completely new leader whereas a lot of people thought it had been errata'd but thats not the case. I'm quietly confident the normal sakazuki will come back but that all depends on bandai balancing meta, which I hope they carry on doing. Love the insight :) keep em coming!!!
these prices are bonkers XD as always, great video and information. You are the man. also proud to say I'm on episode 902 of One Piece so I'm almost cought up!
Thanks Manny, I appreciate you dude :) 902!! Great effort smashing through the episodes, how have you found it? I've recently started Naruto again from the beginning :D
@ContemporaryCollectables it has incredible moments of joy, sadness, heroism, but then incredibly boring parts of scenes dragging on and unnecessary fluff that's boring and doesn't move the story further. They could cut these episodes in half tbh
Great video as always, curious did you see the premium booster announcement? They will be reprinting “old cards” with new art, I think this MAJOR and nobody is talking about it. I think people want to FUD prices so they can buy. They are legit dedicating a booster to newer players while not hurting the OG cards, can we discuss this and bring light to it?
Erik you know I was supposed to mention this and I completely forgot, you're totally right. This is such a massive W for everyone! I'm going to film this video for Monday and some other stuff too :) Thanks dude !
The saka ban is jp only. I think a lot of players and content creatures are confused. Sakazuki won’t get unbanned in op07, because it’s not even banned yet! Sakazuki in jp will ban 4/1 , weeks after op07 has been out in jp. It will be banned for a foreseeable future especially with the new saka card leader with same color identity
Can you help me understand the concept of the related bull markets? If the logic is people are taking profits from stocks/Bitcoin etc. and all markets rise and fall in unison, why would people pull out of those assets classes and into another that’s going up?
Ofcourse mate, since 2021 when everything TCG went 10x a lot of investors/ speculators saw the chance for massive profits in the TCG space. Graded cards, sealed vintage, so much more became part of a more modern portfolio esp with younger investors. Now, stocks and crypto is at an all time high which means a lot of those people are in large profits and one of the things investors do when that happens is to diversify their portfolios and offset risk by allocating money in other assets like the TCG space and One Piece is one of the hottest TCGs there is at the moment so a lot of money will have flown into the One Piece TCG market because of what I just mentioned, which accounts for the crazy price run we have all witnessed. Now, if the stock/ crypto market drops, or a black swan event crashes the markets (like a war starting) then the same crash that happened in 2022/23 will happen to an extent in the TCG space again as some of those investors will sell their TCG products due to FOMO. Basically the TCG market is so big now (millions invested into it) that it will be impacted by wider macro crashes due to the flow of money across the markets. Hope that helped :D
Great vid bud, still in the middle of watching, but i was curious if you were on the One Piece TCG discord server? There were some images shared under their announcement channel that i was curious if you saw? If not, it doesnt seem like a secret since they were shared on one of their channels, but i'd like to share them with you if you are interested in seeing them. Gimme a shout lemme know

@@ContemporaryCollectables ok roger that brotha, yea i didnt want to say it here in case id be sharing info that shouldnt be, but if you saw the same thing i saw i think that makes certain sets a "safe bet" to put money into 😉 i hope its true honestly
I have a question. Rn I don't have too much money as a student, but I really want a few cards that are above 100USD such as the Katakuri alt art. Do you think it is wise to buy now or wait? Do you think the price will drop?
It depends, if they reprint the set exact like for like the price will drop - if they reprint the cards but with different art like theyve stated then this could keep the price of the original high! But then again if BTC and stocks tank then everything will drop probably... its a tough question! I'd say to just be careful with your money :)
All depends on when they plan on bringing it back from being banned! As soon as they unban the card will go back up, at the moment its like catching a falling knife could go lower !
Well thats the interesting thing my friend. It seems Bandai has no problem printing cards with new art or reprinting cards with different stamps. Really solid and smart coming from Bandai. I hat to say it😂❤
Hey CC and everyone! Firstly, great content and analysis, already learnt a lot in this Video. I'm about to get into the TCG verse and searching for the best way to start and invest. Any tipps and recommendations for shops in Europa?
Thank you SilentPlaceGames! I'd say try and find a good local store that sells the One Piece products for MSRP, learn how to play the game and make friends connections and then I'd do a lot of research about what you think would be a good card to hold onto, whether you want graded cards to collect or raw cards, or crack some boxes and have fun basically! Its all about fun and the chase :) this community is a good place to start! :)
I agree that other investments also determine disposable income that people can use for hobbies such as TCG. There is still inflation though that we have to keep in mind as well
I think reprints are coming. I see tons of shops here in Europe pulling out stocks and selling OP01 to OP05 at ridiculous prices. They want to get rid of it, make profit until the reprints arrive. Scalpers and shops are killing it and Bandai joins their game with their strategy
there is one shop around here that has OP-01 through OP-05 in stock but of course at TCG/market value. Pre-orders for OP-06 to OP-08 are from 200-300. Which is strange because the 20+ other shops have literally nothing when it comes to booster boxes lol
Ofcourse mate, since 2021 when everything TCG went 10x a lot of investors/ speculators saw the chance for massive profits in the TCG space. Guys crying for reprints are the real "investors" and scammers trying to make profit. Players can get most singles relatively cheap, except for a few sts, borsa and kata. They saw the game grow and now they are upset they can't have op01-02 AA and seled product for cheap, so they want the market to be floded ruining everyones collection. If bandai reprinsts op01 it will be a warning not to buy other pf their games at the beggining...

Reprints for scalpers or the general public?
As someone who got in at op04, I’m fully in the camp of reprints with new art. It’s just the best way to do things. Again, 🔥 video!
Why would there be new art? It’ll probably be just the same
