You're funny. 🤣 Here's the thing about Fabian, she's a master at building the story arc from beginning to end. Never assume you know everything about the song just a bit through when she's working. She's has top tier vocal technique and recognized as having a supernatural emotive ability on stage. She has amazing powerful belts, but even more impressive is how rock solid she is singing so so quietly. And she keeps her technique seemless so the singer doesn't take center stage away from the story. She composes & writes (in French, English, Italian and Spanish) most of her own pieces. Like Adagio here. Everyone will be recommending her Je Suis Malad from this concert From Lara With Love which I totally can recommend too - it was the jaw-dropping gateway drug to Fabian for me. But I want to recommend for you her Pedere L'Amour from this concert. It's a cover in Italian. I think there's an upscaled version available. Oh my gosh I didn't realise you hadn't heard Lara. She is one of our (Québec's) national treasures. She is a Canadian/Belgian dual citizen and probably the finest singer of the chanson genre of the past 25 years. Quick note-- it's LARR-uh (rhymes with "car") Fah-byahn (equal accent on the syllables.) You MUST listen to her sing Je suis malade (same performance as this one) and Je t'aime-- perhaps her greatest hits. I'm seeing her in Montréal first week in October-- haven't seen her live in two years. CAN'T WAIT!

As a french person I must confess that I am ASHAMED. In France, she's not very popular. She has her public, sure, and she's selling lots of CDs but its kinda a laughable thing to say "I'm a fan of Lara Fabian". She only got the recognition and love she deserves in other countries. Actually I’ve never seen anyone react badly to the first part of this song before… This is a first! Most people are transfix from the beginning, but that’s probably because most of them did not watch a cover or two before watching the original. I mean most reactors.
Lara's great strength and the progression she offers to the song. It really lives in the text and suddenly is not demonstrative from the start. The end is all the more explosive. The other performers are sometimes more inclined to be demonstrative of their capacities from the start. Lara, confident, can wait until the very end and exude more subtle emotion at the start.

You are an honest reactor. I’ve watched many people at the moment they realize that Lara’ voice and performance are incomparable. Jen you should know at this point that you never have to judge a book by its cover... You underestimated Lara before she even started to sing just because you like the Other two artists. Consider that this is recorded at the End of 1999 released in 2000. Not only the power in her voice but her technique and ability to emote is what made her becoming a role model to lots of Singers in so many different styles. The truth is that Dimash learned how he wanted to perform this song from watching and listening to that performance by Lara. I also love Dimash's & Floor's versions, but this is a Lara Fabian classic.
She’s a brilliant singer. I prefer Floor’s higher register but Lara Fabian has great definition around the lower notes and amazing power. I think that her version feels different to Floor’s in that there is an emotional sadness - a pain - that she explores in her vocal (you should watch Fabian sing Je Suis Malade to get a stronger sense of her ‘feel’). In Floor’s version, she has a more positive sense of longing, tinged with expectation rather than sadness. At this level, there is no, better or worse, just preferences. I haven’t listened to the Dimash version as I can’t stand his histrionic singing, in the same way that Mariah Carey leaves me cold.

Plenty others too, but keep them live versions, those are the greatest. Once you really love Lara, try Je t'aime live in paris 2001.

She actually praised Dimash and watched Dimash singing Adagio back in 2017. her comment was " wow, such a big voice,.." " talented". Dimash and her follow each other on Instagram and support each other such as birthdays and other events. To me, Dimash's version has the most insane technical vocal skills to its extreme, Lara's version is the original and is moving.

It's crazy how much opinions can differ.. haha. As much as I love Floor, to me Lara's version is sublime from the very first seconds.. and only gets better and better. As for Dimash, ofc I can't deny that he is super talented and his range is insane, not to mention that he seems to be a very nice person, but I just don't like that style of singing.. at all.
I just don't think Floor's version added anything special to the song, it's was kind of pointless just as all the covers she made until now. I mean, Floor just tries to creatively build her own version of the song if she can't sing it properly (like Stargazer, for example) or if the vocal lines are really easy and flat (like some Nightwish songs with Anette), otherwise she will just aimlessly replicate the song for nothing. Lara is really so good at what she does.
Lololol great take-back! Lara has astonishing expressive range. In one song she will whisper or sigh so light you can't hear her, then absolutely rock star RIP that microphone apart! And she LIVES that song.
Lara was one of Dimash's idols when he was growing up. She knew he did Adagio which she co-wrote and was really impressed. They finally met at Igor Krutoy's 65th birthday celebration, and they became good friends. They sang in a trio with Russian opera great Aida Garifulina the song "Ti Amo Cosi" and it is stunningly great. Check out the You Tube performance.

Salut Jen , tout dans ce concert "From Lara with Love" sont des "Master-class" elle est la seule a chanté en anglais français espagnol russe italien etc etc... dans une diction parfaite quelque soit la langue . Pour Dimash Lara est sont modèle de perfection vocale ou scénique, a mes yeux ,elle a été non pas sous-estimée mais plutôt empéchée (surtout aux USA) car elle aurait fait beaucoup d'ombre à beaucoup de chanteuse de sa catégorie, C'est l'artiste (vocalement) la plus accomplie depuis bien longtemps et cela en plus de 10 langues,ce qui n'est pas à la portée de bien d'autres chanteuse, Lara is the best and a beast on stage ,un grand salut du sud de la France, peut-tu mettre les sous-titres? Jen you should know at this point that you never have to judge a book by its cover... You underestimated Lara before she even started to sing just because you like the Other two artists.
Consider that this is recorded at the End of 1999 released in 2000. Not only the power in her voice but her technique and ability to emote is what made her becoming a role model to lots of Singers in so many different styles. Maybe in the States she didn't be recognized as she should have... She is a singer (at least 12 languages) a composer a true artist loved and admired all over the planet.

5:14, that’s what you get for opening your mouth about “which is better” when the song just started! Come on, this is the standard. As much as I enjoy floor, she didn’t bring the emotions that this song needs at all. I mean smiling? No, this is the way to sing it. And the vocal performance was pretty much the blueprint for what floor did.
That being said, all the versions are good in their own ways. I am glad you were able to admit how wrong you were at the end.

The truth is that Dimash learned how he wanted to perform this song from watching and listening to that performance by Lara. I also love Dimash's & Floor's versions, but this is a Lara Fabian classic.
She’s a brilliant singer. I prefer Floor’s higher register but Lara Fabian has great definition around the lower notes and amazing power. I think that her version feels different to Floor’s in that there is an emotional sadness - a pain - that she explores in her vocal (you should watch Fabian sing Je Suis Malade to get a stronger sense of her ‘feel’). In Floor’s version, she has a more positive sense of longing, tinged with expectation rather than sadness. At this level, there is no, better or worse, just preferences. I haven’t listened to the Dimash version as I can’t stand his histrionic singing, in the same way that Mariah Carey leaves me cold.

Lara is all about the story telling and the build up and that is why Floor and Dimash pick her songs. That's why she is one of Dimash's idol.
Je suis malade, Caruso from the same concert are great. Plenty others too, but keep them live versions, those are the greatest. Once you really love Lara, try Je t'aime live in paris 2001.
Lara Fabian's version is my favorite. Besides being a fabulous singer, the timbre and colors of her voice are beautiful. I would like to suggest the song "Je suis malade", a live performance in this same show (Lara with love). There is a video with English subtitles. Prepare a handkerchief, because you will cry hahaha 😅

She actually praised Dimash and watched Dimash singing Adagio back in 2017. her comment was " wow, such a big voice,.." " talented". Dimash and her follow each other on Instagram and support each other such as birthdays and other events. To me, Dimash's version has the most insane technical vocal skills to its extreme, Lara's version is the original and is moving.

It's crazy how much opinions can differ.. haha. As much as I love Floor, to me Lara's version is sublime from the very first seconds.. and only gets better and better. As for Dimash, ofc I can't deny that he is super talented and his range is insane, not to mention that he seems to be a very nice person, but I just don't like that style of singing.. at all.

I just don't think Floor's version added anything special to the song, it's was kind of pointless just as all the covers she made until now. I mean, Floor just tries to creatively build her own version of the song if she can't sing it properly (like Stargazer, for example) or if the vocal lines are really easy and flat (like some Nightwish songs with Anette), otherwise she will just aimlessly replicate the song for nothing.

Lara has astonishing expressive range. In one song she will whisper or sigh so light you can't hear her, then absolutely rock star RIP that microphone apart! And she LIVES that song.
Lara was one of Dimash's idols when he was growing up. She knew he did Adagio which she co-wrote and was really impressed. They finally met at Igor Krutoy's 65th birthday celebration, and they became good friends. They sang in a trio with Russian opera great Aida Garifulina the song "Ti Amo Cosi" and it is stunningly great. Check out the You Tube performance.

I do jot like the Floor ‘s version I watched . I thought she pushed herself and voice and therefore lost a lost on emotional conveyance. At the time I thought “yeah she is a singer but surely not an artistic Story singer”. In short , she doesn’t move me ...at all. Sorry

I salute you Jen. What you said in terms of your preferences, was just you being honest. You were premature, that's all. And, even if at the end of the song you preferred Floor's and Dimash's versions, there is no shame in that. Almost everyone who is a fan of Lara is also a fan of Floor and Dimash's. I myself absolutely adore Dimash, but at the time he sang Adagio his English was...well, terrible (his improvement in English over the last few years, by itself, is a testament on what an amazing human being he is - continuous improvement!!!), and he didn't bother to change the lyrics to fit his gender like he did with another Lara song, Mademoiselle Hyde.

This is what intelligent people do. Lara is amazing. You should also check-out Je Suiss Malade (French), Je T'aime (French} performed in Paris in in 2002, and Caruso (Italian). It doesn't matter what language she sings in, her vocals will touch you.
