    Update; It seems Sony backed down a little faster, and easier, than I predicted. This video will remain of course, as everything I said within is still true At least now though the people I was using as examples might stop throwing tantrums over misinformation - maybe they'll even stop listening to the people who willfully spread lies. LOL! as if. Source; twitter.com/PlayStation/status/1787331667616829929
    I'm sure SONY's unusual Helldivers2 backdown has nothing to do with desperately wanting to avoid bad press & fan-tantrums around the next BIG Playstation PC port coming in 10 days
    nothing.
    OH Ghost Of Tsushima is the first game with the new built-in PSN overlay you say?
    Odd!

      This PR disaster is of their own making - plain and simple. Not sure if they are planning to return to sale HD2 on Steam for all the countries that currently can't buy it - but I wouldn't put it past them to go for big bucks again.

      We've made our voices heard. I was one of those who loves the game but I stopped playing not only for solidarity for the people who were locked out but to tell Sony to shove off. I will say after listening to your whole video, I can tell you it HAS felt more barren since the announcement of this update vs post update. I will secede that the negative reviews didn't necessarily star with that Friday news, there was a patch on Monday that gimped some builds (my own included) as well as tanked performance and made crashes worse so people had been down voting nearly the whole week prior. It was good that the devs cleared up the issue by telling players to DB the game to give them leverage, the CM who was (admittedly) shitty owned what he said, and barring just Sony not being a shit company and forcing this in the first place I feel this is close to the best outcome we could've gotten given the shit storm that has been the HD2 account linking.
      EDIT: I am coming back simply to put that for the situation to feel TRULY right is for those people who have been locked out to be reinstated if they haven't been. I don't personally have a friend in any of these countries but that's the only piece I think is missing in this.)
      Hilarious to think (from my perspective) all Sony REALLY needed to do was say "hey, this isn't required for PC players, but OH LOOK OVER HERE AT THE SHINY ITEM YOU GET FOR LINKING! If you'd LIKE IT, do the thing. Otherwise keep having fun". I will agree with you on most every video you've had dragging Sony through the mud as in 98% of cases they absolutely are anti-consumer and deserve all the flack they get. Speaking of, "great" to see them in talks to buy Paramount....because that's what they need...more monopoly power. Anyway small rant at the end with me being highly facetious, hope you're well Blunty

    What I want to know is, why was this game ever listed in countries that don't have PSN in the first place if this requirement was always there? Is that Sony's fault or Valve's fault?
    I have heard that Valve is giving refunds to people in countries without PSN regardless of playtime (you have to apply twice, because the first time you get automatically rejected by a bot and the second time you get a human review), so that's good at least.
    As for the player numbers, I guess we'll see for sure what existing players do. Sounds like they get another month to play before they have to sign in. If it doesn't drop on June 4th when everyone has to sign in or stop playing, then yeah, add them to the clown pile next to the "boycott Modern Warfare 2" Steam group all playing Modern Warfare 2.

    • @shinigamiryan5837
      @shinigamiryan5837 28 дней назад

      Mainly because this is the first live-service title from Sony themselves. PSN has only ever been offered in a handful of markets, so often people in unsupported markets would be told by Sony support they should set their account in the nearest supported market (Philippines is one case of an unsupported market where people would say they were in Japan). However countries like the UK make setting an account up harder and Ukraine's current conflict makes even setting up an account in that region near impossible. So, this is causing issues for a number of players once this goes into affect on June 4th. Mind you, June 4th should stand out as that's when Destiny 2's Final Shape launches.

  • @MrEstarion
    @MrEstarion 28 дней назад +29

    Not a single CIS country has a PSN store. Why did they sell the game in the CIS Steam region? Why did they or Steam stop the sales in most countries yesterday?
    Just creating an account in a different region worked wonders for the folks in the region. Most opted for Russia - remember there is different localisation availability too. Since the invasion, you can't buy games, extend PS+, get f2p games, or even really install next-gen updates. An account's PSN region is permanent.

    Okay... I'm all for someone digging deeper and exposing misinformation, which is a big enemy of everyone these days. You have my sincere respect for that, and for pulling against the bandwagon. However.
    Saying Delldivers 2 players are stupid shitbrains with no integrity throwing a tantrum is a bit much. You did make some good points such as proving that steam did notify us of this requirement beforehand, but you also just dodged some things.
    Sony does, by today's standards, have abysmal security with handling data. It's certainly not the worst- but it is bad, and it has a bad track record. Telling people that you "see right through" them because they dare have other types of accounts is just dumb - there are legitimate security concerns, and they have a right to be worried about linking their account.
    On another subject - Sony has changed for the worse since your example that you have given for being able to make accounts in different countries. But regardless of that. It's not that people think that Sony is actually going to seek out and ban your account if you make it for a different country- it's the simple fact that they could legally terminate it anytime they wanted, even if they don't care too much to do so. It's like playing the game with a gun to their account. No, Sony isn't actively looking to pull the trigger. And they more than likely won't. But that still makes a lot of people uncomfortable betting their account on that possibility- on top of adding another hoop to jump through just to play the game. It's not difficult, but it is an inconvenience, and it adds a level of uncertainty for some.
    As far as quitting the game versus leaving bad reviews- I am willing to bet that the player base will tank some once the requirement for current players starts rolling out. Could be wrong. But I also think they'll want to enjoy the game as much as they can before the requirement sends everything into chaos.
    Yes, some people (including me) were unobservant and missed the notification for the account requirement upon purchase. Yes, some people are taking it too far. And again, my genuine applause and respect for fighting disinformation. But this video also takes it too far, even if it's in the opposite direction. There are reasons for players to be upset; don't insult the entire player base for expressing their discontent. A lot of us are just sad that this wonderful and diverse community is getting torn apart, by corporation and players alike.
    That all being said - Hope this finds you well and you're having a good day.

    • @BluntyTV
      @BluntyTV  28 дней назад +2

      "it's the simple fact that they could legally terminate it anytime they wanted, even if they don't care too much to do so." You should READ the TOS agreements you accept... basically ALL OF THEM can do this.
      very nearly ALL such agreements have clauses saying they can change shit anytime they like, AND they can refuse service any time they like, - even without explanation at all.
      Sony are not doing anything outside of what the standard has been for DECADES of online TOS agreements.
      Your ignorance of this fact is not evidence of sony being ESPECIALLY "evil".

    Yeah, no, we're not. Sony went into their website and changed To make it look like it Always said some games would require PlayStation network, when in reality, it Said it would be optional. So they lied out of their teeth and then there's the fact that Sony. has More holes inside of its cybersecurity than a Las Vegas strip club so pc players don't want sony anywhere near their personal info. I already know You are going to compare it to what other companies do which is stupid as hell because no other gaming company put this feature in the game after months of the game is released. Then there's The fact that sony knowingly sold people( In countries that you're no longer allowed to have PlayStation network) this game wth the intent of screwing them over later. Its just annoying and I refuse to encourage that shit in addition to everything else. GRANTED you definitely spoke in a much more well informed manner about certain things AND especially where you mention that it allows them to react to reports and issue bans easier thought Im more than sure there are other ways to get the same results.
    All in all DESPITE EVERYTHING YOU MENTIONED it shouldn’t be necessary and there definitely are work arounds to get the goods out of what they “intended” which lets be honest, in the corporate side it DEFINITELY does help inflate corpo numbers they like to see go up.

    Understand the "Industry" isn't about good games - hasn't been for a long time.
    This is similar to the downtalk on Elden Ring. The media and industry heads WANT this to fail. It sets a high mark other publishers don't want their devs to have to meet. They want to keep selling C- content forever. Outliers raise the bar and change expectations.
    So the game had a huge drop - no surprise. There was major marketing and word of mouth effecting a bubble that was going to pop no matter what.
    And yet it's still at about 50k players a day. Anyone realize that most games fall into the 1-2k count by now? Instead of that 50k?
    Don't believe the down-hype. Those of us who've gamed for at least 10+ years should have observed this industry fixing before and become wise to it.
    I agree the COD/Casual playerbase craps on the game like they do all games because they have no attention span and don't do well with games like this or DRG, GTFO, etc. Most *hate* teamwork, etc.
    Let them die off - they always do.
