Hey, Chris. I really enjoy the videos you do with Charlie. What I like about him is that he’s simultaneously modest and proud. Don’t see much of that these days. The same is true of you too, pal.
Charlie has alot of nice machines and stories to go with them. Thanks for sharing! Chris, it was great to shake the hand of the living legend himself at Bunyan! Thanks for making the trip and taking the time to talk. I hope it wasn't overwhelming and you might consider going back next year?!?! Have a great week!
Another great video! Those still seem like solid machines! Good example of when you have more money in your gps than the excavator lol! Thanks for sharing
Good videos .good humour and hard workers having a bit of fun taking the piss but serious eat the same time good on you guys .Old jimmy Western Australia
I'm with you but the reality is he's ordered not to film if he wants these jobs. He can't make the same money filming for us on youtube in the dirt pit or clearing brush instead of those big high $ fine grading jobs he's doing. It's a shame we can't get more Charlie to but we are lucky to even get Chris or Justin on some jobs I'd be thinking. Enjoy what ever we get I guess
If they ever started using GPS equipment on road maintenance you might be able to drive 30 MPH down the street without having to hold onto the steering wheel with both hands and white knuckles. That might happen where Charlie lives, but I can't see it happening around here.
How do you double the value of a 90's Cat 300, put GPS on it. How do you triple the value of a 90's Belarus tractor, Put a half eaten Mars bar on the seat L.O.L. Thanks Chris and Charlie for another great video.
I know exactly where Charlie is talking about in Dillon Sc. Just was in Dillon last week with a Disaster Relief team. We were wondering if thaiwas an inland port we saw. Also Harbor Fright is a huge place. Neither are from the Sout of the Border.
Great videos with you and Charlie chris, I know you’re all Volvo and he’s all cat but what’s your opinion on bobcat skidsteers? I have a small 90s model 440b and I’m looking to upgrade to a 06 t150, do you have any opinions on them?
Alot of places require GPS to even get on the job now. Some guys can do as good by eye but these places and the liability require a paper trail and preprinted finger to point.
That pad he's doing is for harbor freight?!? Does that mean I'll be able to buy a grader with gps for 99.99 after a 20% off coupon??? It'll just be called a Chicago Diesel Ground Flattener with Contop gps. I'm excited for this.
Isn’t the GPS to track the machine if it is stolen or for getting the right grade ? There is this outfit in Southampton, UK which contracts to locate your machinery if it gets stolen by attaching GPS and radio warnings so if the machine moves they can track it and recover it. They have videos on RUclips. It’s very fascinating. It is called AutomatricsMTrack.
How does Charlie come about all this money to buy this equipment. Is it from his business? Was the money handed down to him? Or does he get all this equipment for dirt cheap?
Charley is a kind of laid back guy that don't want to be on video and I can see that but Charley you seem like a great great man and and don't want to be out front man.
Lmao! “Charlie bleeds CAT” Love watching Chris and learning about excavators but Im with Charlie on the CATs. I was an owner/operator of nine CATs and now run an Ebay CAT Manual store called Texas CAT Manuals. That used to be my RUclips account until they took exception to my political views and excommunicated me. 🤣😂😂😂🤔😂😂 So I made this account a couple of days later. If they blow this one up... like my CATs, I’ll be back in a day or so! What is the name of Charlie’s RUclips channel?
yes. But when they moved on to power machines, they still read a grade by eye. The machines took the muscle out of the work which made it easier and faster.even then the next change came when cables and pullies were replaced by hydraulics, but I think reading grades still was a skill that operators had.
If a job calls for 10,000 yards, the contractor has to figure for extra (yield) 4% would be 400 extra yards. If Charlie gets the grade perfect then the contractor does not need the extra concrete and he and Charlie split the savings of not buying and placing the extra concrete. Let's say $100 per yard, the savings on 400 yards would be 40,000, split between Charlie and the contractor that would be $20,000 each.
This day and time I don’t see how any company that builds subdivisions, warehouses or really any kind of site work can afford not to have Gps systems, at least where I am. There is a huge lack of operators that can actually do anything. Plus your efficiency is incomparable to old methods
That's what I said when the salesman call me. I said " E series are a useless piece of nothing" but after looking at it and the $24k price I decided to try it. Not had the first problem with it in 4 years now. Commonly loads 150 to 200 loads of dirt a day. I actually have 2 and find them very reliable for pit operations. It's more reliable than a friend of mines 336 and my 325 DL with a third the hours.

I bet he'd take that pond fill!
Charlie seems like a guy you could have fun with all day long.
Robert Rockwell if that's what you look for in a equipment operator that's completely your choice just leave me out of it lol
@@cntslesfabrication all operators have fun once in a while??
@@kiansutton2795 that's why I put lol at the end of it of course you got to have fun
@@cntslesfabrication ohh never seen that haha
@@kiansutton2795 all good. Got to have fun just destroy equipment in the process
Those EL300s are damn good machines. Simple. Powerful. Reliable.
Charlie has as many real excavators as you have models!
Another great video! Those still seem like solid machines! Good example of when you have more money in your gps than the excavator lol! Thanks for sharing
Efficiency, productivity; it all helps the bottom line.
You know when Charlie leans on the machine a good yarn fallows 🤣👍

Tell Charlie to start making videos again

What is the name of Charlie’s channel?
Interesting chats. Cool video as usual 👍
I'd like to see Charlie put all of his machines and trucks together to see his total fleet
If they ever started using GPS equipment on road maintenance you might be able to drive 30 MPH down the street without having to hold onto the steering wheel with both hands and white knuckles. That might happen where Charlie lives, but I can't see it happening around here.
I bet that 300 was a beast in its day.
Love the old el300 one my favourite Machines to run
Charlie has some cool machines
Great video Chris thanks for sharing have a great day
I miss grading. Charlie is right it takes time to learn and nobody wants to do it.....that and grading is a thankless job
How do you double the value of a 90's Cat 300, put GPS on it. How do you triple the value of a 90's Belarus tractor, Put a half eaten Mars bar on the seat L.O.L. Thanks Chris and Charlie for another great video.
Like watching equipment videos please keep making them
Good for Charlie! Evidently he’s a CAT man?
Charlie sure isn't Chris when it comes to operating.
That's one big bucket load of the red stuff
Was that harbor freight in Florence?
You can learn a lot from Charlie.
Just wondering when is Charlie going to be posting videos again an I dig the Charlie videos you have been doing
@letsdig18 Does Charlie have a channel? He seems to be a man of many talents.
Where is Charlie's RUclips channel! He would be a blast to follow along.
Where is that dirt yard at, he does sale ot for grade 5 a d dirt applications right
I was working on the harbor freight job out in dillion we did all the directional boring
Charlie needs to hire a camera guy to follow him all day so he can post video's again!
I know exactly where Charlie is talking about in Dillon Sc. Just was in Dillon last week with a Disaster Relief team. We were wondering if thaiwas an inland port we saw. Also Harbor Fright is a huge place. Neither are from the Sout of the Border.
Charlie loves his mm grade stuff now.
Those Cats have the power but lack the speed of the Volvo's.
I'd like to find a Volvo the age of this 300 to kind of compare? Can't seem to find any? Strange?
About the same size and year ruclips.net/video/-kzhDcbd5Ic/видео.html

Can you tell us what charlie uses the pit for ?? is it top soil

no no no you silly Russian Its call Chicago Powermax Grade Enhancing bubble leveler
Ahh my mistake. I sorry. Still learning language you know.
I tell my Topcon salesman the day is coming and when it does they can hang it up! The way overcharged me for everything I've ever bought!

No it tells the operator if he’s meeting grade or not... it may double as a LoJack but that’s an extra if it works
How does Charlie come about all this money to buy this equipment. Is it from his business? Was the money handed down to him? Or does he get all this equipment for dirt cheap?
Is the GPS screen a stone tablet 10x
hes a textbook of dirtwork
It didnt have any leaks when i got it now it does lol
How did you and Charlie meet years ago?
through youtube
Chris, does he live in the Triangle area to.??
I kind miss the place myself after moving to N. Fla 14 years ago, but it was just to Crowded now.
Zero arm rest! There’s your upper body work out for the day!
Luv th howl of that pump
You could fall asleep driving that machine. It was painfully slow.
Does Charlie have a Michigan accent? He sounds like a couple of my friends from there.
Northern Ontario Canada, but I was born in Michigan but never lived there.
I know it's older, but that machine seems a lot clunkier than yours. Still does the job though.
Can someone answer for what Charlie uses that pit for im just couple years subscribed so i would appreciate it,love your videos
Ok never mind Charlie answer it thanks anyway
The trailer park by my place they have a e70b with a side boom and it still works
Charley is a kind of laid back guy that don't want to be on video and I can see that but Charley you seem like a great great man and and don't want to be out front man.
Actually it was a joint venture between Caterpillar and Mitsubishi which also spawned the birth of the 300 series excavators.
I like skid steers a lot

The company I work for has gps on a cat 345B and i thought that was old.
Wow only 12,000 hours on 300 the one we got at has about 51,000
Got Gps but can’t afford to shim the bucket up
is that Copperhead Marine?
Hunter yes
yes sir, good machine
Ooo like men good video
he is hilarious
Just think, all the jobs that were done without gps that worked just the same.
john doe worked, yes but with probably 1000’s of yards in excess concrete Therein lies his paycheck
I was thinking of the skill of the "old timers" that is going to be lost because a machine does the "thinking" now.
Time is money.
absolutely. He has the skill that was enhanced by the gps, but will new operators be able to work without the gps?
yes. But when they moved on to power machines, they still read a grade by eye. The machines took the muscle out of the work which made it easier and faster.even then the next change came when cables and pullies were replaced by hydraulics, but I think reading grades still was a skill that operators had.
Can someone explain 'yield' to me please? 2%...4%...-1%...-2%....I'm lost on the math of what Charlie is trying to explain.
If a job calls for 10,000 yards, the contractor has to figure for extra (yield) 4% would be 400 extra yards. MS Earthworks No SHIT, well I be god dam!❣️💋

The EL 300 are junk. Wast of money
