This may be the best video on Ham Radio Satellites on RUclips. Step by step, easy to understand with examples, well done!!! 73 N0BB

Do you remember the RS sats back in the 90's? I seem to remember there was two, RS-6 and RS-10. Russian birds that had input on a small slice of 2 meters and the downlink on 10 meters. It was great fun and you could work stations almost cross country on a good pass, even some caribbean DX! To send respectable sounding CW, I built a crystal oscillator for (I think was 12 mHz) and then multiplied it up for that specific 2m band frequency (thanks to the Doug Demaw books), and fed into a 20 watt 2m amp. It was pretty cool, tracking stations with the doppler shift during the pass. With the available bandpass, a CW hundred stations could be on at the same time. Why do you think we don't have a similar bird today?

Hi KE4GBE. Thanks for the memories. Yeah I do remember. I am not aware of 2m/10m transponder satellites that operate. The closest is RS 44 2m/70cm transponder. You can operate CW and SSB. 73, Paul

Great video, packed with great tips!. Are you just using the camera app to record or are you using a specific audio recording app?

I am glad that you enjoyed the video. That is a great question. I use an iPhone, I use this App apps.apple.com/us/app/voice-recorder-audio-record/id936694037?platform=iphone.
Any recording app will do, but I like this App since I can slow down the audio. Sometimes call signs are said so fast, it helps slowing them down. 73, Paul

Really good video, very useful info. I tried the satellites a long time ago, was able to receive but not make a QSO, I think I'll build your antenna and try again.
BTW, I didn't have too much difficulty with the doppler, it was just a question of hitting the frequency shift button a couple of times during the pass. I found switching between VFOs as I listened and transmitted more of a problem, as I had no duplex. 73, M6RTC.

Thanks for the tip on the Doppler. I need to mess around with it. 73. Paul.
