Being impressed by the crowd at this concert is just proof of how cool your grandparents were back in the day, because all those people you saw going nuts are in their 60's and 70's today

The 70s were the best decade musically and Skynyrd was one of the best in my opinion and definitely my favorite band ever. Keep rolling out those 60s thru 80s rock reactions and I'm here for it. Glad you discovered this. Great reaction young man.

There's a guy standing behind a speaker cabinet with long hair and sunglasses, that's a 23 year old me. All those guys were very close friends of mine that I truly miss hell out of them. We all had a great time playing music together.
Also the girl in the yellow shorts sitting on the guys shoulders was Susanna Bass, it's so great to see yourself and people you know in videos like this.

It was a different time back then, so sorely missed by many who grew up then. And yes, they do have the rebel flag on the stage and no one freaked out about it or anything. A different time indeed. Somewhere along the way, the fun and the energy of music like this went away.

Skynyrd played Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama on July 4, 1975. Tickets were $1.99 because it was America’s 199th birthday. They ended the show with Free Bird, Dixie and Sweet Home Alabama. Ronnie didn’t want to quit playing so the city pulled the power on them. Ronnie threatened that if they didn’t turn the power back on, they were going to tear the place down. Good times.

I've watched many reaction videos to this, and one thing we who lived in the time of this, for me, I wasn't there, but I was 19 in 1977, and people don't know how to live IN the moment anymore. Cell phones everywhere, people so busy recording everything, they don't really see it or hear it in the moment.

This concert was just a little over 3 months before the tragic plane crash that killed the lead singer Ronnie Van Zant , guitarist Steve Gains backup singer Cassie Gaines and the road manager Dean Kilpatrick on October 20th 1977 and just a few months ago we lost the last original member Gary Rossington . They are still going with Ronnie’s little brother Johnny singing but this is their last year touring

Quite the precise reactor you are, bobbriest434! Very seldom do reactors include Leon Wilkeson, bassist, in the guitar count. He does a stellar job, especially near the end of "FB." He's plucking and fingering those thick bass cables (they're more than strings) cleanly and quickly. Keeps up with the speeding "regular" guitars very well.

Great southern rock band from the 60's-80's. It is very sad what happened to this band in losing so many members in a plane crash in 1977. My favorite songs are "Simple Man", "Free Bird" & "Sweet Home Alabama". They had lots of great songs such as "Call Me The Breeze", "Tuesday's Gone", "That Smell", "The Ballad Of Curtis Loew", "What's Your Name", "Saturday Night Special" etc.

We used to listen to them before they were called Lynyrdskynyrd. They grew up in my neighborhood in Jacksonville, GA. There were a dozen other garage bands like them. We'd visit all of them depending on if we liked them a lot. They became so popular, someone offered them a horse barn and field where they could accommodate the bigger crowds coming to hear them. Very sad they didn't live longer. All free, of course. They didn't charge anybody money to hear them in those days.

This was Southern rock and I'm from the South. I saw them do this at Memorial (football) Stadium in Charlotte, NC on July 13, 1974. It was Under the Stars festival. It featured a lineup of ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rare Earth, Leon Russell, Elvin Bishop, and Billy Preston. That was about 12 hours of my life I would not trade for anything! Things were different then and in many ways a lot more fun. And give me some 70's Molly Hatchet too who I saw many times over the years.

This is a great band but the song has been overplayed. True story: the Drive by Truckers, who are probably the most Skynyrd-loving southern rock band on tour today, hate this song because it has been done to death. They were doing a wedding ca 1989 (when they were Adam's House Cat in Florence, AL) and a drunk redneck kept yelling at them to play "Free Bird." Patterson Hood took a paper airplane someone had made, lit it with his cigarette lighter, and threw it at the guy, saying "there's your f***ing Free Bird" and started playing Sweet Home Alabama instead.
On that score, if you like this you should try the Drive By Truckers. "Southern Thing," "We Ain't Never Gonna Change," whole lotta hits.
