Jeffrey Donovan is a freaking badass in this movie. Underrated character. The way he shakes his head at the guy. He knows he’s winning the gunfight, it’s just a question of whether he has to.
Effects like that are deliberate and not done on accident. If you’ve examined a real crime scene (even seen photos) this effect is not uncommon in these scenarios. For future reference, nobody’s going to waste time and money adding an effect to a movie that doesn’t make any sense. Especially in a “realistic” movie such as this.
