As always, great information about getting around Newfoundland.
Thanks Monique. More to come!
Hi Mark and Family….another good one!👍🏻
👋🏼Thank you!
Another great video Mark! Glad to hear you had no issues with the ferry. Hope you enjoyed your visit and by the way you made me a little homesick.
Thank you Brian. I absolutely enjoyed my visit and so did my wife. Actually my older son loved it too. He discovered that he enjoys hiking after bolting to the top of Brimstone Head. He can’t wait to go back!
My Hometown Mark. Mrs. Betty is from Joe Batts Arm. I’m from Fogo Proper! Hope you have a great stay and visit.
So nice to see that you and your lovely wife were able to come home, especially with such a tiny baby! Congratulations again on the growth of your little family! Little kids are adorable and, obviously such an incredible joy to have, but, man, can they put a wrinkle or two in a travel itinerary!😂😂😂
I'll have a full video soon talking about how many things I had to scratch from the itinerary for this road trip 😂
Another great video Mark, I spent the last 20 years of my career responsible for the cellular, internet and telephone network for Fogo Island , I could write a book on ferry experiences lol. Strikes ( me and the ferry lol), storm bound , ferry blockage and having to get a fishing boat to come home and leave my vehicle over there , middle of a storm and ferry waiting because we needed me there with generators to keep communications , I should write a book lol. You definitely gave a great summary of the ferry synopsis and what to look for. Hope you have a great week my friend.
I remember you mentioning something about your time working on Fogo Island once before. I’d read that book for sure!!
Looking forward to seeing you guys travel to the GNP. Glad you love my home of Fogo Island, such a beautiful place despite the transportation issues.
Who are your Parents Thomas? Are you related to Faron and Rosie?
@@gbltheolechurch5acrehomestead those would be my parents
I love it so much. The GNP is a big goal of mine for the spring… but I won’t be bringing the youngsters on any more road trips for a while 😂
Sometimes the RUclips comments can really make me happy. Loves to see stuff like this! Of course Mr. Garry knows your parents!
Yea. I have two kids myself we often travel from St. Anthony to St. John's can be a challenge. When you do make it up this way, reach out.@@mark_royle_newfoundland
The hikes and trails are the BEST Mark. A quick chat with the locals (all of them know Mr. Garry and Mrs. Betty) will give you directions to the best sites and places to visit and explore!
In the past year I hit Joe Batts Head Trail, Fogo Head, and of course Brimstone Head. I’m not even a big hiking fan but all those trails were amazing. I’ll ask around for the hidden gems next time I’m there. Thank you my friend!
@@mark_royle_newfoundland I’m in Town this weekend if you around. We could do a coffee or something. Let me know.
Everyone Love It. ❤️
Such a great spot. Do you ever get over there with your cameras?
my hometown is fogo. 100% it's biggest drawback is the transportation, or lack there of.
It is hard enough for a visitor like myself. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for a local.
Its ridiculous that the Government purchased two ferries from a poor country instead of being made in Canada to save a few million dollars and it has cost the Newfoundland government millions more in constant repairs ever since they were brought into service. Its really sad they constantly have to bring in the old ferry and for folks living on the island they definitely should have priority for getting on first. I am nearby and it makes me sick what has happened. Cheers.
Fogo is always worth it. For those wondering, Sunrise in Tilting is a borderline spiritual event!
I didn't experience that, but I can imagine
My only Fogo experience so far was in 2008 my son was 2 and we were camping in Dildo Run Park.......we visited 7 Oaks bed and breakfast looking for a meal but they were close for an event..........as we were leaving in the parking lot the event showed up......John Crosbie and his wife.......couldn't believe it.........he was The Lieutenant Governor of NL at the time and rode up in the car with the flags out on the front fenders in all.........breifly said hi and got a pic with my son and him..........a great Fogo experience...........Good one Mark..
That’s a pretty great story… an example of the magic of Fogo Island!
