Trumpet man congratulations - great performance! All what you play sounds great. I like that extraordinary feeling you have for the trumpet, the full, clean sound. Thanks a lot and keep going.
HI Claude-Michael; I listened to your rendition of Bring Him Home and loved it. I play the same song on RUclips at a lower register. If you want to hear it, here it is. Bring Him Home Keith I am 65 and play for fun anymore but recently learned how to record on a Mac with GarageBand. I loved Les Mis so much I wanted to learn this song. I agree it is really difficult in many respects; especially holding out long notes and retaining a good tone. I hope you like it. I felt a little intimidated listening to your but am so glad I did. Keith Kiel
I am a youtube student of yours, I look forward to your next adventure and enjoy what every that one is when you post it at present I am working on Dave Jones, When she loved me and I dreamed a dream. I noticed this was posted in 2013 I am grateful as a part timer to sit down to your videos and past an hr a day away and come away feeling part of your music world, can I ask you something or anyone else who might read this comment why is the slide extended that bit more then usual I noticed the original maker on the slide and for this piece it looks extended 10mm ? Beautifully played thank you
I loved reading this comment. I'm glad that you're able to use this channel for your own trumpet playing! It's nice when there's not only passive listening to the music but also actively playing along with some songs. When it comes to the slide, I just looked again at the video, and it is pulled out reallly far. I don't remember why. Maybe it was to keep myself low in pitch while constantly jumping up to a naturally sharp upper register, or what.
What key and what kind of trumpet would you recommend to a beginner? What's the difference between a Bb and C trumpet? Isn't the trumpet already considered a Bb key instrument? How does the notation/fingering differ? I wanna do what you do :P
initialsCKN I'm no expert on brands and kinds of trumpets and what not, but here is a link to an article about the best kind of trumpet a beginner should get: brassmusician.com/best-student-trumpets/. The difference between a Bb and C trumpet is the tubing. The C trumpet has less tubing, which is what makes it in C instead of Bb. With a C trumpet, you don't have to transpose music that is already written for instruments in C, most notably hymns out of a hymnbook. I think most beginning trumpet players play Bb instruments, so that is probably the key most associated with trumpets, although big-time orchestras use C trumpets mostly I think. The fingering and notation is the same with both Bb and C trumpets, but if you try to play a C trumpet part with a Bb trumpet or vice-versa you will have to transpose.
Sorry, I don't. I learned it by ear. There is some Les Miserables sheet music for trumpet though on amazon.com. I actually have one of the books, although "Bring Him Home" is a lot lower than the version I recorded.
So beautiful, I get choked up every time I hear it.
I'm so happy to hear that :)
Just love this. Was in my town centre today, a fella was playing this. It was beautiful, touched my heart. 💗

Very nice :) Can I ask you where I can get this backtrack ?
I got the backing track here: ruclips.net/video/tzVLt8OoB5M/видео.html
And I liked your rendition Blackwidow :)
Ok ,thank you
Do you have the sheet music of this song?
It is a Bb trumpet, although it would have been easier to play this particular song on a C trumpet.
The Trumpet Man looks like a 37, is it?
C trumpet?
i wish my sound quality was that good.... :(
Wounderful n beautiful
Who are you... introduce me please
Thank you Rajan! I am Matthew Cruice, amateur trumpet player bringing you renditions of songs from the stage & screen!
