@@logangrifo I disagree. Everybody keeps asking each other tons of questions, and Nott has lied over and over instead of coming clean with her past. When somebody doesn't want to tell you something, you respect that. And that is the relationship those characters have.

"I looked into the water and saw everything I thought I was..... Not pretty... Not smart... Just not." As a young girl with serious self esteem and confidence issues growing up, this line was the hardest to hear....I have been watching this scene a lot and this line brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. I actually knew, in my gut, this is what happened to Nott, or something similar at least, but this scene still broke me. I am glad she finally revealed why she hates water, and why she wants to find this man so badly. Nott is the bravest, most selfless character in the whole party. She spent months with these people without complaint, even when her village was attacked she let Jester have another night with het mother. Even after drowning she dived thousands of feet into the ocean for her friends, even after all that she suffered and what they still might do to her if they find her she gave up the location to the camp of goblins that harmed her. Hell even as early on as the first Lorenzo encounter she nearly died from his first cone breath but she kept trying to pick that lock to free Fjord and Jester from the caravan. She is such a beautiful character, and Sam Riegel is a monster for making us feel so deeply for her...
Another moment foreshadowing Notts back story was in Episode 40-Dubious Pursuits, Nott separates from the group to distract the yuan-ti, mirroring Nott distracting the Goblins

@@strgz5329 This is incorrect, he knows everything. There is no learning as you go with DM, the DM might make stuff up on behalf of the story, but back stories have to be established to the DM, Mercer explained this in many of the after game talks etc.

Caleb's "names are important" and her solemn "Yeah" is one of my favorite moments because it has so much emotional weight for both of these characters and neither of them knows the other is carrying it too
They did question her early on and she initially lied saying that it was just what she learned from torturing Yezza. When really it was obviously because she was just a halfling and Yezza had escaped with Luke.
Great editing! Also, just as a note, Nott also uses the aliases "Bren" in ep 21, and ""Atto" in episode 24. Like with her name Nott the Brave being an anagram for Veth Brenatto, some of her aliases also combine to form the name Veth Brenatto.
I love how pissed of Travis got at himself when Sam was describing the feeling of water and the reason why Notts afraid of it. You can literally taste the anger, sadness and a bit of a hatred towards his own actions. It only proves what Sam said about Travis not really understanding how Nott works. And Travis just dishing it out of the way, saying their friends who mean well but occasionally test each other and give each other shit. The long game is so freakin strong with Sam, its crazy!
When you remember that Nott has literally spent the last month on a boat surrounded by water and on many occasions has been made to deep sea dive....damn
Thanks for piecing together Nott’s story over the year long episodes. It’s really amazing to see their backstories come to light but the tragedy of Nott’s.... so compelling as it is heart wrenching.

I haven't watched this episode yet and I'm almost crying at the story and how its arched this far and you helping us piece all of it together from trostenwald to now with the clips if the videos and such. I'm legit shaking help me
Liam chose both the races and classes for both Scanlan and Nott; Sam ran with it and built characters around those choices (which means the backstory was entirely his thing). The only character we know for sure he chose the Race and Class of entirely on his own was Terry (a human male).
I love the little hand moves that Sam is doing to explain the story. Especially the "Make her suffer" and has he explains how she drowns and the water was in her lungs and nose. They are just some simple little moves but it adds so much to the desription
God sometimes its easy to forget how damn GOOD Sam is at dnd! These clips just show how committed and masterful he is at "playing" his character, to be so driven by the backstory she has! Which should be a given, but I feel like Sam takes it to a whole new level; because you never really saw it coming up until Nott was faced with her worse fear, of losing her family again. I could ramble all day, but damn Sam is in a league of his own sometimes!
Is it too selfish of me to want Nott to stay as a goblin until the end of the campaign? I really loved the dynamic that she brought. Also hopefully she and Caleb are able to repair their relationship. It might take time but that bond they had was something irreplaceable. I hope its not gone forever...
I'm betting Matt won't give him any options before long, True Polymorph is a level 9 spell which means Caleb would have to be at least lvl 17 to be able to use it IF he chooses it as a spell... Otherwise he has to find it in a scroll

I really think it could go either way, I know Matt’s a big Chronotrigger fan even dressing as Magus for one of his first cosplays. Relatively early in that story your faced with a choice over whether to lift the curse or leave your brave friend Glenn in his frogman form but gain a powerful ally, I could see it going that way.
