I loved the part where Thomas Wayne tells her that Bruce followed in his fathers footsteps and she ask if he is a doctor. He says no and her face is like oh no. One of the best moments in comics.
Lately you've been doing a lot of stories I actually care about....maybe it's because I mostly like dc and only like a few marvel characters (like moon knight)
actually he said awhile ago that he has editors make some of the visuals for his video's, so the editor probably put that frame in because they saw the answer but rob couldn't change the audio.
Blake Staggs wait a minute, wasn't Barbara Gordon adopted from Jim's brother or sister? I thought she was originally his niece that he adopted after her parents died.
I'm sure this was mentioned by now, but it shows Selina saying to Jim, "You never had kids, did you?" He says, "or a wife, time kinda got away from me". So, that's the answer to Barbra's whereabouts. She was never born. Love the channel, man.
it depends on which "era" for lack of a better term you go by. originally Barbara was written as Jims Niece and later adopted daughter, but after some reboots like the Crises (plural of Crisis, just so you know I didnt misspell it) and stuff she has been his biological daughter.
I loved everything about flashpoint, I think character changes are glossed over to a degree partially simply to the fact that every aspect of history was changed. I understood as i saw it that billy batson for example NOT growing up with superman to idolize made him not as "pure" and thus it took multiple children to form Shazam, similar situation to no Barbara gordon.
I wish you could have mentioned that the reason that Martha snapped at the end which led to her death, was Thomas admitting to her that, even in a world where she & Thomas died and Bruce "lived", Bruce still "died" and became a Batman. That Bruce never had a normal life, and would presumably meet a sad end (such as the stories from "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?" talked about). That Martha killed herself because even in a "better world" where her son lived, her son still died and became, what she perceived to be, an empty shell of who he used to be, a shell of who he could have become.
It kills me cause barry's parents orginally lived a very long life. we saw this before barry sacrifice. then they created the reverse flash during wally west run. and then he killed them.
Rob, to answer your question about where Barbra is, look at 13:25 right in this video. Seline asks Gorden "You never had kids, did you?" And Gorden explains that no, that in time timeline he never got around to having a wife, so no Daughter.
Rob, Barbera doesnt exist, at least not in any way that matters. Jim commented in that first panel with Selina that he *never had the time to have a wife or kids* . That's a fairly big thing to miss for having shown it on screen. To be fair though it was just a throwaway comment in that one panel.
In the same scan with Selina and Gordon he said he did not have any kids or a wife so there was no Barbara in the Flashpoint universe, well from what I've seen so far. Feel free to correct me.
Hey Rob. Love your channel. Thank you! What I wanted to say was about Barbara Gordon. You said that you didn't really know what happen to her just a couple panels after Commissioner explained he never got married, never had kids. Thanks again! You're awesome!
LordUzaki I think it was told good how it was. I think more detail would have ruined it they gave enough detail that was needed and left the rest to our imagination. I love when they do that. I think that's one of the things ruining comics is that they have to explain everything instead of just leaving it how it is
She lost it when Thomas told her that their son follows in the footsteps of his father. "He becomes a doctor?" NO "OH GOD!" Martha really hates batman, yet her name is the one thing that prevents him from killing people apparently. "WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!?"👿
SoLa Stranded I was talking to my friends about that scene. Do you think she started to run because she was thinking my son is batman he doesn't have a normal life or because my son is batman and I'm the joker and he would be trying to stop the very thing I am?
mcinnisj100 The first one lol. Definitely the first one. I think she just hated the fact that the one thing that she cared about, so much that the loss of him drove her insane, would grow to be the same thing she blames...his father...The Batman. A vigilante.
Wait a second this is way to cool !!!!!!!!! Isnt Thomas Wayne should be the Owlman? Carrier of actual comic The Flesh is better called the white rabbit chaising by the maker of his future to be someones past????!!!! .......... and because of that whole universe reality is changed to headstart for finishing as present reality where Barry Alen exists like common super hero Flesh without knowing who he realy was. Hahahh great :)
I would argue Superman is actually the Jesus of DC. Man who's both human and alien and has two fathers and uses his power/gifts to save man kind through self sacrifice.
I personally wouldn't mind that if, in one of the future Batman Stand Alone films, they use this idea (of Thomas Wayne becoming Batman), if for no other reason than to see "The Comedian", Jeffrey Dean Morgan, playing Batman (something I hear he would be glad to do, if offered ^_^)
i think you should continue with flashpoint and the detailed one shots...beside being a huge flash fan i enjoyed flashpoint but never really got to read many of the one shots...especially like superman...
Selina/Oracle said that Jim Gordon didn't have kids in the panel you showed, and he replied that he didn't even have a wife. That's what happened to Barbara.
You left out the reason Martha Wayne's insanity kicked back in: Martha asks what will happen to their orphaned son. Thomas replies that he will be like his father. Martha asks if this means Bruce will become a doctor. Thomas says no and Martha realizes to her horror that their son will become Batman.
great video man on flashpoint and personally in my opinion i am more of a fan of wally west flash then barry allen flash but hey that's just my opinion
I just realized that since the video is titled "What ever happened to Bruce Wayne?" the answer could just be "he was shot dead in an ally at 8 yrs old" done ;P
It would be awesome if you did a series of videos comparing the characters of the 616 marvel universe to the character of the 1610 (ultimate) universe, like comparing the Avengers to the Ultimates and so on.
It was cool to hear about the stand alone batman flashpoint comic. Didn't know it was out there. I thought it was just the flashpoint comic by itself. So thanks for sharing that. I'd be interested to hear the other characters back stories.
I've commented 3 times already and it's because this storyline was so amazing to me. PLEASE dive into cyborg's origin as well as why Diana and aquaman are at war.
Flashpoint was BS. Like why would changing something in the past alter events that happened before that. Reverse flash says it's a ripple and goes forwards and backwards but that only applies if the medium by which the ripple propagates. Time can't go backwards so the time ripple wouldn't affect what happens in a back alley. It's a fictional story why am I applying logic. It's not a bad story and Thomas Wayne batman is pretty cool.
Son_0f_Ares there is a theory that all of the events that happened with batman being lost in time caused cracks and that barry going back caused it all to shatter.
"Time can't go backwards so the time ripple wouldn't affect what happens in a back alley" That is based on our own limited real life understanding, as Time Travel has not been invented at this stage. What if joe Chill's gun shot right instead of left, is pretty much what is being said here. This story is basically DC's version of Age Of Apocalypse. Which again started out with someone (Legion) travelling back in time to kill Magneto, the greatest adversary to Xavier's dream. He accidentally kills Xavier instead and the world turns to hell due to the absence of one lone man.
Spencer Conway you're absolutely right and I hate it when people comment on something and they really don't know what they're talking about they just State their opinion and assume it to be fact without checking the source material
FYI people there is also an animated movie about this story. it covers the events pretty well but some are missing. Still worth a watch if you liked the comics.
One of the things I loved about Flashpoint, is it seems to be the start of Cyborg being a part of the justice league, something I think he was long overdue for
Geoff loves Cyborg. it's prominent in his Teen Titans run. No surprise he would make him the iconic American hero in this world and then carry that over to Justice League.
Great video again Rob, lovin it! You should most definitely cover the character origins from the Flashpoint U as well as the main arc. I know thats a lot of work but it would be awesome. Im a sucker for ANYTHING Bat related so naturally i loved Thomas and Martha's story from Flashpoint. Wish DC would have released the Flashpoint animated movie in different parts, to cover more of the info left out of the movie, great movie, just missing alot. Rob i never hear you talk about the DC or Marvel animated movies, do you like them at all?
Wow!!!! Yeah, Rob...I'd definitely like to see more from the Flashpoint Universe. I just read Flashpoint and saw the DC animated movie, but never read the tie-ins. I'd like for you to continue this.
Flashpoint Universe finally showing everyone how badass Aquaman could be.
Yes
Max Power aqua man is so shit he should be named seamen
boi you just watched south park didnt you
Scorpionruler5 I'd did
and you just stole their joke
I loved the part where Thomas Wayne tells her that Bruce followed in his fathers footsteps and she ask if he is a doctor. He says no and her face is like oh no. One of the best moments in comics.
Thomas Wayne is the best part of this series.
Obviously
Also the best part of the movie
Thomas Wayne is dead dumb fuc....shot in an alley after a Wayne movie night
@@robbcampbell7441 did you watch the video?
@@robbcampbell7441 not here, moron!!!
Lately you've been doing a lot of stories I actually care about....maybe it's because I mostly like dc and only like a few marvel characters (like moon knight)
Amiradi Coolisa who the hell is moon knight
never heard of moon knight lol
Amiradi Coolisa iron man is the best character in marvel in my opinion
Moon Knight is by far my favorite character
+Radiant Fighter Reading prior to 2000 would suggest otherwise.
In Flashpoint universe Jim Gordan never got married or had kids. It was on a panel in the video.
@comicsexplained 13:25 jim says to catwomen he never got married or had kids
Blake Staggs l
It's right there in his own vid lol. Maybe he's testing to make sure we're paying attention.
IDK maybe.
actually he said awhile ago that he has editors make some of the visuals for his video's, so the editor probably put that frame in because they saw the answer but rob couldn't change the audio.
Blake Staggs wait a minute, wasn't Barbara Gordon adopted from Jim's brother or sister? I thought she was originally his niece that he adopted after her parents died.

13:26 it's the panel we're introduced to Selina Kyle
Oh it's mentioned that Barbra Gordon does not exist since Gordon did not marry due to his being busy with helping Gotham
The Maker but Barbara is hes niece right
it depends on which "era" for lack of a better term you go by. originally Barbara was written as Jims Niece and later adopted daughter, but after some reboots like the Crises (plural of Crisis, just so you know I didnt misspell it) and stuff she has been his biological daughter.
yeah he even showed a page in this vid where selena is talking to gordon and he says he doesnt have kids.
This was great. I'm anxious to see how you cover wonder woman and aquaman's past and what caused the angst between them. I love these backstories
is Flashpoint the Age of Apocalypse for DC?
yes
The RED Samurai it's more like the secret wars 2015
yep
I loved everything about flashpoint, I think character changes are glossed over to a degree partially simply to the fact that every aspect of history was changed. I understood as i saw it that billy batson for example NOT growing up with superman to idolize made him not as "pure" and thus it took multiple children to form Shazam, similar situation to no Barbara gordon.
I have a feeling that Heath Ledger's joker had a big influence in Martha Wayne's design in flashpoint cause looking at her I thought of Nolan's Joker
This Thomas Wayne stuff was really good. How about that Flash Rebirth though? it would be great if you could upload it at godspeed.
I enjoy the pun, but Godspeed, in its actual definition, is another way of saying good luck, not any actual measure of speed.
its the name of the villain in the flash rebirth
araw yes, Im well aware of that. Thats why I said "I enjoy the pun"
apologies i though you were not aware
So what I wanna do here, it took me a week to realize he said that in every video
Wow, The Flashpoint Paradox animated film did NOT show the Joker part.
Huh. I remember watching that and thought that was in it. Not actually showing the Joker, just alluding that Mrs. Wayne became the Joker.
Jim Gordon never had a wife or family so Barbra was never born
G-String it says that at 13:26
I wish you could have mentioned that the reason that Martha snapped at the end which led to her death, was Thomas admitting to her that, even in a world where she & Thomas died and Bruce "lived", Bruce still "died" and became a Batman. So the DC Universe was rebooted...because Flash had mommy issues. Thanks a lot, Barry.
ayyyyyyy

The story was really sad and really good. I prefer you continue.
Out of all the flashpoint tie-ins, this version of Batman and Joker fascinated me.
In the same scan with Selina and Gordon he said he did not have any kids or a wife so there was no Barbara in the Flashpoint universe, well from what I've seen so far. Feel free to correct me.
it actually said that time got away from Jim Gordon and he never got married that means he never had a kid which means no Barbara Gordon
Wow!!! Damn!!! That's a CRAAAZY ass story.. I LIKE IT!!!!
Yeah, this is a good and proper alternate timeline.
What ever happened to me? Uh I mean Bruce Wayne. You want my phone number?
Hey Rob. Love your channel. Thank you! What I wanted to say was about Barbara Gordon. You said that you didn't really know what happen to her just a couple panels after Commissioner explained he never got married, never had kids. Thanks again! You're awesome!
Gordon states he never got married or had kids.
Correctomundo! And that's why there is no Barbara Gordon acting as Oracle, or Batgirl.
Thomas Wayne should have been the Batman in Batman vs Superman , Thomas Wayne for the win.
I don't know about Thomas Wayne for the win, but a cool fight idea none the less
I feel as though the story was rushed. had they been given more time I feel as though you could create a rlly interesting story from this dynamic
LordUzaki I think it was told good how it was. I think more detail would have ruined it they gave enough detail that was needed and left the rest to our imagination. I love when they do that. Awesome video. I was completely enthralled by your storytelling. PLEASE make more and don't just reread the story like some other places. Thanks!
The Flash is DC's jesus, long live the fastest man alive
barry can walk/run on water, jesus confirmed
-_-
no...
I would argue Superman is actually the Jesus of DC. Man who's both human and alien and has two fathers and uses his power/gifts to save man kind through self sacrifice.
david volosen depending on what superman ur talking about tho. i kind of consider superman god and flash jesus. makes more sense power wise. 👌🏾
sike fam I'm not really referring to their powers, just to their stories.
I personally wouldn't mind that if, in one of the future Batman Stand Alone films, they use this idea (of Thomas Wayne becoming Batman), if for no other reason than to see "The Comedian", Jeffrey Dean Morgan, playing Batman (something I hear he would be glad to do, if offered ^_^)
duuuuude!!!..do a story on the "Super Seven"..just found out about this story..inteeense!!!! dc.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Seven
I saw the movie TV movie and loved it. Good to know the backstory so more videos would be appreciate
this actually got my eyes watery... so sad
I enjoyed hearing the specifics about batman. I've always heard about Flashpoint but only the overall story
One of my favorite stories in recent memory
Barbara was never born in the Flashpoint Universe. Gordon said he didn't marry.
You did miss something obvious.
I saw the cartoon version of this on Netflix a couple months back. Really a very interesting take on the DC universe.
i think you should continue with flashpoint and the detailed one shots...beside being a huge flash fan i enjoyed flashpoint but never really got to read many of the one shots...especially like superman...
"Run over Flashpoint"...good one.
Barbara may not have even been born, Jim Gordon mentioned he had never been married.
Selina/Oracle said that Jim Gordon didn't have kids in the panel you showed, and he replied that he didn't even have a wife. That's what happened to Barbara.
I love the animated movie

I might have been a bit inebriated, but dayum, that Thomas Wayne reveal sent some crazy chills down my spine.
Martha Wayne is the Joker.CLASSIC

J-bomb Williams that would be a great video
I read FP years ago. This is a nice refresher. Thanx.
13:29 Selina says to Jim Gordon "You never had kids did you" Barbara Gordon was never born
Hey Rob, do you think the relationship between Flash and Eobard Thawne is as convoluted and complex as Cable and Apocalypse?
Good to see Andy Kubert art again. Haven't seen too much of it since 90's X-Men.
Jim Gorden never bad any children, there for Barbra Gorden never was born and never became Oracel
It is a sad story. so sad 😔
The art in the Batman Flashpoint comic is painful to look at.
too much color
Actually Spider-Man is the best character in Marvel
I like flash point, but never read the tieins, so pleace Rob, continue.
Please cover the rest of the flashpoint universe!!!
It was cool to hear about the stand alone batman flashpoint comic. Didn't know it was out there. I thought it was just the flashpoint comic by itself. So thanks for sharing that. I'd be interested to hear the other characters back stories.
You forgot the part when he tells her that Bruce becomes Batman instead of him
I've commented 3 times already and it's because this storyline was so amazing to me. PLEASE dive into cyborg's origin as well as why Diana and aquaman are at war.
so shazam is basically a flesh version of transformers combiners. lol
I believe it is said that Jim Gordan never had kids in the flashpoint universe

Son_0f_Ares because DC logic is "Because we say so." I'm not complaining, just mentioning. 🤓
I'm loving the in depth covering of Flashpoint.
This is where Heath Leger's got Jokers' inspirational preformance.
Actually, this story was published 3 years after his death.
Spencer Conway you're absolutely right and I hate it when people comment on something and they really don't know what they're talking about they just State their opinion and assume it to be fact without checking the source material
"and she basically dies"
What does that even mean xD
yes, cover the flashpoint universe.
This is defiantly dark but for the most part understandable reaction to the lost of a child in that particular way.
Loved the presentation
I would enjoy more flashpoint coverage. It's a great story and getting more in depth discussion is always interesting in these alternate realities
Martha Wayne is the Joker did not see that coming. I don't remember that detail being in the Flashpoint movie.
In the movie, when Bruce is bleeding on the ground, Martha comforts him and when she looks up at Thomas she has a bloody smile on her face.
Ever since I saw the cartoon, I've always wanted to know about Thomas Wayne. Thank you.
FYI people there is also an animated movie about this story. it covers the events pretty well but some are missing. Still worth a watch if you liked the comics.
No shit Sherlock
I thought the flashpoint series was such wow
[saw this from redbox, great story]
This story was and is one of my all time favourites. Such an awesome spin on the iconic Batman/Joker mythos.
Definitely should do more of the tie-ins
They never hint at Dick Grayson in Flashpoint do they?
he gets his own tie in with deadman
That's injustice
Wow, I love this. Digging the theme(s) lately Rob!
So what I want to do here is get a bunch of likes
I remember when I first read this. The Martha Wayne reveal mindfuck was real.
I can't wait to see more of these! Flashpoint universe is so interesting!
Yooo this was very cool. More please!
dude this is the most exciting thing i heard in a long time. i look forward to going over the flash point tie ins.
Please do all the tie-ins. :) I'm interested in all of them. :)
Was there a TEEN TITANS tie in? :)
I wanna know what happened to green latern during flashpoint i don't remember him in it
he died
Batarang Nerd he was a pilot wasn't he?
hey never got te ring because amon sur never died
This is pretty dark.
@18:24 grumpy face
would love to dive into this!
i don't know why, but this video seems late.
Great video!
*If you haven't done it already, please do a Black Adam origin "Comics Explained" video....please!?!?* 😂😂😂
What is that piano melody at the end? It's beautiful.
It's soul crushing editing at its best...
This was a great "Comics Explained". Can you keep doing more alt timeline events. Red Son is my favorite, but I'd love to hear your take on it.
Wow!!!! Yeah, Rob...I'd definitely like to see more from the Flashpoint Universe.
I just read Flashpoint and saw the DC animated movie, but never read the tie-ins.
I'd like for you to continue this.
