Usually it's Hikaru showing us how he plays someone weaker or equal to him.
Him playing someone much stronger and tries to hang on is very rare and educational.
Which is much more relevant to most of us hahaha
It's kinda hard for him to find someone stronger to play. Perhaps 2 or 3 on the planet, depending on the day.
i put stockfish 16 (1 min or 3 min time on 7950x) up against magni and while it made inaccuracies (for a bot) it was only lost after move 30

in game 2 Hikaru was winning on move 166 if he played d4+. stockfish is giving -4.62 at depth 48. white can’t stop promotion
d4+ and almost every top engine moves that follows. Otherwise, it just goes back to a draw, if not a loss in certain cases. I don't know if a human can keep up with all of this.

@@Phurngirathaanaeven without letting the engine go into depth it’s still winning. the depth doesn’t show complication it just proves a straightforward win exists. since the position is completely locked the moves are really easy to find

i love how they used the -i suffix for pluralizing Magnus like in some words that are ending on -us and borrowed from Latin (e.g. Nucleus - nuclei, Cactus - cacti). also, for that reason i think the i should be pronounced like in the word iron

@@lexywackess well thats just the tendency, i know that originally in latin the ending i in plural forms is pronounced like e, but in english its pronounced like ai when the plural form is borrowed from latin
Also it's a good thumbnail because it's the 3 Magi (plural for magus obviously)
Magnus itself is a latin adjective meaning big or great (like magnum opus). Since it's a first/second-declension adjective, the masculine plural form is in fact "magni". It's pronounced like Mog-knee like fog and ee in latin. but mag-nee and mag-nigh are both acceptable in english.

I like those bots cause they play very sharp lines, 1500 Magnus attacks all the time, 1500 Antonio let's you squeeze him till he has no move and moves king between two squares - which is actually hilarious, wanna see that then play QG or London against Antonio, he's helpless after 20 moves
Nothing is as strong as Stockfish 16. Watching the top engines in long time control games in the TCEC Championship is amazing. The level is 3400+ and many games are jewels.

I've noticed the bot seems to play in the way of a constricting serpent: it gives away an advantage in the opening and middlegame and slowly starts gaining it back and squeezing the energy of the opponent until it chokes its prey 😂

I played magniii got 86.8 accuracy only😢 against 97.2 lasted 48moves with 15book moves 3 mistake and 2 inaccuracies and he did just 1 inaccuracy my performance was 2450 and his was 3000 didn't expected this against engine as a 1900-2000 rapid currently😁😁😁😁

Hikaru, at 27:32 could you have played pawn to c3, attacking the d2 rook? the idea is that if he doesnt move the rook, you take it. and if he does move the d2 rook, you play pawn d4 checking the kind and discovered attack on a2 rook. you could have won a rook either way, right?? (im 1050 elo so i maybe missing something here)
c3 , Rd4 stopping d5 .. then it can play Rc2 collecting the c3 pawn..
Kramni bot would probably spam bullshit 3x faster than the actual Kramnik. I think they should go for it.
